He's clutch with no timeouts, no set up time, and barely any seconds on the clock too.

if you mean doing it tiwce in 15 years is clutch then yes I guess he's clutch.....just make sure those attempts are within 40 yards, and dont ask him to kickoff either

Doesn't perform near the top? LOL that's too funny. A kicker who's kicked game winning field goals doesn't perform near the top? WTF?
Plenty of kickers have hit game winning FG's...some of which arent GREAT kickers either.

I see what folks are saying. Yes, it would be NICE to have a super awesome kicker, but being paid THAT much for a position that really only sees limited action during a game is horrific. What if he DOESNT kick those kinds of FG's in the future? You then paid that much for nothing. Of course, that could be said for ANYONE on the field...but kickers see the LEAST amount of PT during any given game.

Yeah but they're counted on the most besides qb's. Kickers can win games and lose games as well. Jasom Elam is a proven clutch kicker. Letting Elam go will come back to bite the Broncos... that's why Champ is "very concerned".

I already said...is it sad to see him go....YES!

but given the terms he wanted for what he does....just was not justifiable!

@mooreblock... Like I said I guess you missed or forgot how Jason Elam literally ran on the field with no timeouts left, barely any seconds on the clock and nailed game winning field goals two weeks in a row(against Buffalo and Oakland). He didn't even have time to set up... just ran on the field and nailed game winning field goals. But keep on downplaying how important kickers are. Kickers face the most pressure in the NFL besides quarterbacks.

quit it, im not saying being a kicker is easy or that it has no signficant part in football......you tell me nothin new.......all im trying to say there is a fine line between regular kickers (on most nfl teams) and the "star" kickers if you call em that.....

elam is one of the best but is a two million dollar cap hit worth maybe a couple better percent numbers in kicking? i guess the broncos don think so......

players come and go thats just the nfl.....hell i woulda cared if someone got bironas (hes been are only decent kicker in the last decade IMO) but would it be enough for players of the team to come out and say they are worried or something along those lines?
