These cats were performing at raves for years cause all they had to do was crawl onstage, do one song and then get paid....Shit that's a pretty good deal if u ask me.

I wish any of u guys involved with the show luck with it regardless

honestly the rock show would prolly get me out there more than seeing them would. not that Im a huge rock fan, but the energy they put out will def be 10x's more than what u get from SugarHill Gang. Plus like you said, the ladies will be out in full force so that's always a plus.

I may be trippin but I dont know any other song from them other then "Rappers Delight". Im sure I've heard a few more but nuthin that really stands out. so for me to travel to a show just to hear one song it better be a damn good song! lol

sugarhill gang has one of the biggest songs in rap history. they are known all over the world as one of the first hip hop groups. i have many friends in the rap game who were doin it several years before them (crash crew, dj hollywood, dj yoda, daryl c) but they were the first to have a break out international mega hit with rappers delight. many would think of them as a one hit wonder, but when a legendary group like that comes to a semi small town like concord, its a big deal. if they impacted u like they impacted me, that would be a big deal to see them. they are the reason i got into rap, rappers delight was the first rap song i ever heard.

we (rob base and ez rock) have a show next month at the arco arena, most of the groups on the bill are so called one hit wonders, but last year we sold it out and i bet this year we do it again or atleast come close. (30 dollar per ticket average). some people long for yesteryear when music was better and these acts take u back to those times. make sure you check out the show in concord and make sure u come to sac and the arco arena. here's the line up...

Freestyle Old School Explosion. FEATURING:
Stevie B, Expose, Trinere, Stacey Q, Company B, Sugar Hill Gang, Rob Base and DJ EZ Rock with Kyle Rifkin, Grandmaster Flash’s Furious 5 Featuring Melle Mel, Scorpio, Kid Creol, Raheem, Frankie Smith

yeah that's what i was trying to explain last night, I'm not saying Sugar Hill Gang created Hip-Hop, and created Rap as a sub culture of Hip-Hop, BUT what I am saying is if it wasn't for that breakout song, maybe there were people before them, but their song tookoff first, it happens, welcome to the entertainment industry, but if it wasn't for that song taking off worldwide and helping to spread Hip-Hop to other areas and other races, I still say Hip-Hop would Not be where it is today. Think of their contribution to the advancement of the culture when it was in it's infant stages in the 70's and early 80's, never did I say they created it.
