THESE CATS PRETTY MUCH INVENTED RAP I AM GOING TO TRY TO MAKE THIS ONE.

No disrespect to them but The Sugarhill Gang was created by their label after hip-hop started to make noise on the underground...They were disco/studio artists...In NO way though did they in any way "invent" rap....Just givin u some proper info dog

yeah well whatever the true background story is, if it wasn't for them and some other people, the rappers and producers of today would not be where they are now

some of u are misinformed... the only one who didnt write his own rhymes on rappers delight was "big bank hank" as he was put in the group instead of grandmaster caz. cas was hanks manager and wrote the rhymes that hank spit (I'm the c-a-s-n the o-va) just for the one verse on the one song. they were a real group. but as far as weather they invented rap or not, no they didnt invent it, but they sure were the ones that brought it out of NY and to the world. they are fuckin legends and they're the very first rap superstars. say what u want but rappers delight was the first rap song that 99% of the world ever heard. they are a huge part of hip hop history. i've performed with them many times and the show will be lots of fun. wish i could make it.

if u wanna know more about the grandmaster caz and big bank hank beef, cheeck out the BEEF 3 DVD.... "Big Bank Hank vs. Grandmaster Caz." This is definitely one a lot fans probably never heard about. The allegation here is serious: that "Rapper's Delight," one of the greatest rap records of all-time, was actually penned in part by a rapper not on the song. Caz says he wrote Hank's verse, but the Grandmaster was no ghostwriter — he says his rhymes were stolen by Hank. "I wrote damn near everything he says except little phrases he took from other people. I'm the 'Grandmaster with the three MCs,' " says Caz. Hank, who used to manage Caz, is not on the DVD to defend himself.

if u appreciate the history of rap and enjoy good music and want to meet some legends then this will be an awesome venue to see them at. if u are just a fan of mac dre and have no desire to see something that helped start this whole music genre then this might not be for u. i think anyone with a bit of interest in hip hop history will be very excited about this show.

That song blew up cause they used a disco break "Good Times" as their basis and it was when disco was blowin up....Did they contribute to hip-hop? ABSOLUTELY!!! I just hate it when cats refer to them as the "Godfathers" of Hip-Hop or the "originals"....In no way are they either...

I think a few people in here need to watch Wildstyle (NOT BREAKIN U TOOLS) and learn a bit. You'll see some REAL originators in that piece.

And I gotta disagree with ya on this one pimp...Why would I wanna go and see these guys who are whoring and milking ONE FUCKING SONG let alone pay for it? They depend on don't knows and people who haven't really thought it thru...Or maybe whoever is opening for em lol
