What a fight! Looks like Gonzalez is starting to tske over and that's the difference between him and most everyone else where he gets better and better as the rounds go on whereas his opponents start to fade. Also I think this is another example of why he shouldn't go up any further in weight, the size/power difference was very obvious first couple rounds.

I don't know, I'd rather Jacobs not go into the fight super weight drained. If he beats GGG then fuck the IBF title to be honest.
I disagree because Jacobs agreed to fight for the IBF belt. It's in the contract that the IBF, WBA, WBC and IBO belts are on the line. If he didn't want to fight for the IBF belt, ok, just let that be known. Rules are rules and the IBF second day weigh in is a rule, a great rule imo since it's entire purpose is to prevent guys from rehydrating crazy amounts of weight like 20 pounds. I'm tired of fighters shitting on rules and doing whatever they please.

This is just Jacobs way of trying to get an advantage. I disagree also because Jacobs could have still rehydrated 10 pounds so it's not as if he would be super weight drained, and the second day weigh was at 9:45am that means he still could have continued rehydrating throughout the day up till the fight. There is no excuse other than he's trying to get a weight advantage. Golovkin had to do it, he made sure he was on point, Jacobs should too. In any event, I don't think it takes away from the fight much, I just think it's poor sportsmanship and I'm a bit disappointed in Jacobs as a result.

Definitely, don't think it was a robbery, just surprising. I thought Chocolatito landed the cleaner shots in most of the close rounds. I had him winning too.
Yeah it was close, no robbery. I thought Gonzalez was landing crisp, clean punches throughout and his combination punching as always was on point. The first couple rounds he lost obviously and lost a point for a knockdown but that was essentially wiped clean with the point deduction later in the fight so the knockdown doesn't matter, then its just a matter of who won more rounds which was Gonzalez in my eyes. Ledermans scorecard was good I thought (had a couple rounds swapped compared to mine but I thought it was pretty accurate).

Alright here we go main event!!!

I think the key to beat Golovkin is to push him back, be more physical than him and force him to fight on the back foot. We haven't seen anyone do that to Golovkin yet but I notice the rare times he is pushed back Golovkin has to reset completely, resets his feet to get in position. He's not a counter puncher and doesn't like to fight on the back foot. So I think if Jacobs can do that and impose his will on Golovkin, he's got a legit chance at winning. Jacobs has the size, both height and reach so let's see if he tries to use those advantages. I favor GGG 60/40, Jacobs is legit and has legit power. But Golovkin has proven to be something special, Jacobs wants to prove he is too tonight.

I didn't tune in until the last 4 rounds, I had GGG winning all 4. These British BoxNation commentators acting like Jacobs got flat out robbed. Was GGG getting beat that bad early or something?

That turned out to be an entertaining fight! I thought Golovkin was head hunting way too much and neglected the body entirely. Jacobs fought his heart out but gave away a couple rounds and the knockdown hurt him in a close fight like that. I think they should rematch while waiting for Canelo. I'd love to see them fight again, Jacobs deserved a rematch for that performance imo.

They were probably shocked Golovkin didn't destroy him. HBO had Golovkin winning by a point but Lederman gave the first two rounds to Jacobs which I just don't see how is possible considering Jacobs landed about three insignificant punches total in those two rounds. So if Lederman scored those rounds to Golovkin he would have had Golovkin winning by three points.

It was a close fight though but I think the knockdown hurt Jacobs since it was so close. I fully expect a lot of people crying robbery simply because Golovkin didn't destroy him, which often happens when people are surprised that the opponent does better than expectations. Regardless it was close and I want to see a rematch, which they might as well since Canelo isn't going to want to fight till the end of the year anyway.
