He did pull out but it was more of a business deal because Wlad don't want to give up that money. But all the talking will end on Saturday. Fight time. Now all we need is for Mayweather vs Manny to happen.

July 9th is going to be great. Paul Williams vs Lara on HBO (which I believe is a 50/50 fight) and should be great action, and on Showtime Brandon Rios vs. Urbano Antillon, which could end up being another FOTY candidate.

Only shitty part is two great cards on the same night. But if you're like me and have both channels I'll watch HBO live and watch the Showtime replay immediately after.

I don't like what I hear from Williams and his camp. He said yesterday that he's going to retire after 3 more fights. He said his trainer wants him to retire after 2 more fights. You can take that however you want, some may call it smart or whatever, but to me that could be a sign that his trainer isn't seeing what he wants to see in sparring/training camp and knows he'll never be the same. Could also mean a serious lack of confidence in Williams. He never talked retirement prior to getting KO'd.

@ B-Buzz, HBO & Showtime have big cards the same day Bootay is fighting, so it wont be on either. However its in Romania so it will be a day time fight (for us) I believe. I'm sure there will be some sort of stream available if you want to check it out.

yeah that's why I asked if they'd show it the next week haha, my friend's a big Bute fan so he'd probably want to know if they're gonna show it in HD rather than a stream.

That sucks about P-Will. If he retires that's even less boxing I'm going to want to watch. I need a new favorite

P-Williams has been in too many wars with no defense. The wear and tear is catching up to him. I love watching him fight but he has a style that is not built for a long career. I will be watching both HBO for Williams vs Lara and Showtime for Brandon Rios vs. Urbano Antillon. Both should be action packed fights. I want to see Bute vs Kessler, I'm not sold on Bute yet.

I can recommend a couple guys who are exciting that you may not have heard of... Have you see "The Black Russian"? His name is Ismayl Sillakh, born in Ukraine his father was African his mother Ukrainian, lives in Cali now. Fights at Light Heavyweight and he's a badass. Here is a highlight of his most recent fight against an undefeated Cuban:

You probably heard of him but if you like someone who applies a lot of pressure and doesn't stop punching Tavoris Cloud (also at light heavyweight) is like that. He's a beast.

Rios vs Antillon. Two guys that really hate each other. Well, seems like everyone who fights Rios hates him haha.

Rios Vows To Make Antillon Pay For "Wife Comments"

Exciting WBA lightweight champion Brandon Rios likes having a chip on his shoulder.

Rios, age 25 and a protégé of thriving trainer and former world champion Robert Garcia, is now inviting rugged July 9 (Home Depot Center, Carson, California, on Showtime TV) challenger Urbano Antillon to try and knock it off.

At their initial press conference, two time title bout loser Antillon mentioned something about the Oxnard-based Rios’ wife having the real testicles in the family.

“I love that,” Rios said on a Top Rank media conference call on Thursday. “I love having beef with an opponent. I have to have that little excitement when I go to the gym, to be a little angry or mad.

“I need it, I love it,” the 27-0-1, 19 knockouts Rios said.

Trainer Garcia agreed that getting emotional is rocket fuel for his loves to brawl boxer.

“Brandon now wants to go out there and kick his ass,” Garcia said. “After the press conference, Antillon came over to offer a handshake and Brandon refused him.”

The way Rios sees it, Antillon was wrong to make the spouse reference.

“He mentioned my wife,” Rios said. “I don’t talk about (another) boxer’s family. He was the one who brought my wife into the mix.”

Rios, who a couple of years was viewed by some at Top Rank as a real talent who lacked true dedication, said he’s not the same, wild 23 year old he used to be before he settled down. He suggested that performance in taking the WBA version crown from Miguel Acosta showed as much.

“Lots of people were doubting me,” the fighter known as “Bam Bam” said. “But that was two years ago and it was just the way I was then handling things outside the ring, my personal life.”

Garcia views the matchup as a head-on collision.

“Antillon will be right in front of us,” the trainer said. “He will come right at us.”

Humberto Soto and Acosta both turned back Antillon, 28-2 with 20 knockouts, in title tries.

“This is his third time,” Rios said, “but it won’t be the charm for him. I know he is a helluva challenger but I feel so much stronger.”

Garcia noted that training in the higher elevation with Abel Sanchez Big Bear Lake has likely put the challenger into tiptop condition.

“But Brandon’s a real hard worker. We just expect a great fight, a tough fight.”

For his part, Arum said the fight "doesn't need to be sold" but he was peddling it anyway.

It's kind of like when the emcee says, "Here's a man who needs no introduction."

Yeah Williams prolly isnt the same, if hes talking retirement...DAMN..No Heart? I hate to say that in a sport that requires this much physical and mental demand, but damn...I cant blame him for wanting to leave the sport, cuz boxers dont no when to quit but to do it at this time raises questions...

I'm sold on Bute myself although i do want to see him fight away from home agianst a quality opponent .....this next fight should be a good test for him.....

Chris Areolla is taking fights left and right....He looked to be in the best shape of his fighting career when he was on Friday night fights..Damn near 2 weeks after he fought on the Ward undercard......Maybe he gets winner of Haye Klitchcho...Who would be next in line for the winner of that fight...Rematch?

the next fight for Bute should be an easy fight, it's against Paul Mendy who aint shit really. He's "undefeated" technically but he hasn't fought anyone good. The best person he fought was Sakio Bika in his last fight who actually knocked Mendy the fuck out in the very first round, but Bika hit him again when he was on the ground and Mendy luckily got a disqualification victory while laying unconscious. Here is the video of that slaughter:

(fast forward to about 2:15)

Anyways, the rumors are Bute vs Pavlik will be coming up sometime soon (I think Pavlik is going to fight one more "tune up" fight in the next couple months) and that's a great fight. The first big challenge for Bute. I don't know what Pavlik has left in his career, but at the very least he's got a solid chin, lots of heart and has a good power.

Pavlik is shot to shit. Bute will give him a beating. Pavlik has never been the same since B-Hop beat the brakes off him, then Martinez put a nail in the coffin.

I wouldn't call pavlik "shot to shit" just yet. He lost to Martinez, yes, but he did win a lot of the middle rounds and scored a knockdown. He was doing quite well until his face started leaking blood from both eyes. All this while being in rehab just days prior to the fight for alcoholism (and having an alcohol problem leads to lots of bleeding - see Julio Cesar Chavez late in his career or pretty much any Ricky Hatton fight).

Physically I think Pavlik is fine (as long as he stays away from the booze and stays in shape). He's never been KO'd.

Mentally is where the question remains. Does he have confidence in himself? That's the biggest unknown for kelly.

What a month..

Jhonny being buried on an undercard after being one of the best comeback fighters in recent years is a shame. Gonzalez is fighting proof of all this shot fighter silliness that people like to claim. Stopped in his last 3 losses, was completely crushed by a Nishioka left hand, came back to ruin top 10 ranked Asiku & Hasegawa to become one of the best featherweights fighting right now. I hope he can get himself into a decent TV fight soon .. he definitely deserves it.

Pong in his first real fight of the year, Caballero coming back after getting beat by fucking Litzau, Marquez' first fight after a FOTY candidate .. and that's just the first week. I'm loving it.
