^ Yeah, that's the guy I immediately thought of who would be a tough fight. Perez. So would Mares, but Perez has the size and the workrate.

That being said I wanna see a Perez-Mares rematch.

yep, that was probably fight of the year thus far, or (can't believe I'm saying this) chavez jr. vs duddy. Actually if the year ended today I simply wouldn't give out a Fight of the Year award lol.

But yeah, I like Donaire's chances against all of those guys. I just think he's a very talented guy and although lot's of people are complaining that he shouldn't be ranked #4 pound for pound in the world, I definitely think he has the skills and talent for a top 5 guy.

anyone watch the fights?

*spoilers*
First off awesome knockout by Judah on FNF's, lightening fast shot. Him moving down to 140 makes it the best division imo:
alexander
bradley
judah
khan
maidina
victor ortiz
joan guzman
paulie guido
etc.

Next up, shawn porter gets the win but didn't look too impressive. I actually give more kudos to the new ray robinson. A lot of that is how short porter is I think he needs to move down in weight.

Lastly, Guerrero vs Smith was very close fight, both guys fought great fights but Guerrero just the busier guy and won on my scorecard by a couple rounds. Smith was landing some big shots late and definitely hurt Guerrero a few times. I don't know what the announcers were smoking, the whole card their scores were way off.

Good night of action, cant wait till tomorrow.

Just finished watching most of the fights from yesterday .. only one I haven't seen yet is the Ledebev/Aleexev eliminator.

Don't know how much stock I put in the Judah win just yet. He's ALWAYS looked fantastic in the first couple of rounds, he had a smaller guy in front of him who was stopped by lesser fighters than Zab. I'll wait to see Zab go past 4-5 rounds against a better opponent before I'm sold on the "new" Judah.

I liked the whole ShoBox card pretty much because everyone on the card was putting something on the line ..

Lane/Dallas Jr. wasn't all that of a fight but it was impressive how Dallas Jr. was able to shut him down for most of the fight. I thought Lane would do much better than he did it was surprising to see him get shut down as bad as he did.

Porter/Robinson .. Porter needs to learn how to relax and not smother himself all the time. He could have put Robinson away more than once and got ridiculous going for the knockout .. he was even doing it when Robinson wasn't even hurt he'd just wade in winging .. that shit's gonna get him knocked out if he keeps doing it when he steps up.

Guerrero/Smith .. Smith lost this fight for basically the same reason he loses every fight. He just didn't do enough. He put Guerrero on the canvas, was doing good body work and had a couple of rounds where he fought excellent. I thought Guerrero won clean though .. not sure what Tarver and them saw in this that said different. This was a good fight for Guerrero and I hope they match him up with someone that won't get knocked out again in his next fight .. like a Giovanni Lorenzo.

Hatton/Nuzhnenko .. I give Hatton credit for winning this. Nuzhnenko came out and put Hatton on his ass in the 1st with a left hook to the head and then Hatton pulled a Ricky and started hitting and holding. Nuzhnenko should have been able to do more against Hatton than he did, he let himself get tied up the whole night and Hatton even got off some decent combinations in between .. I thought the score was closer than the judges but it is what it is

Pretty good fights tonight on HBO .. Angulo crushed Alcine in one round. Alcine held on to one of Angulo's arms and just got blasted then knocked out standing with a second left in the round.

.. and Bradley did basically what he does and schooled Abregu even hurting him on more than one occasion.

yep agreed. Bradley should stay at 140 though and take care of business with Alexander/Khan. He's not going to get any big names at 147 although I heard Berto is willing to fight him.
Yeah I don't think he's not gonna fight at 140lbs. After all this fight was supposed to be originally against Maidana then all the shit happened with Maidana's management. I honestly think Bradley means it when he says he's more than willing to take on anyone .. which is cool with me.

I believe it too but realistically is pac or floyd going to fight him next? Mosley is scheduled to fight Mora next, that doesn't leave too many options at 147 other than Berto. I don't know what HBO would offer but I know Berto demands more than he's worth and he may do better financially against Alexander, who can sell out St. Louis easy at this point (if he wins next).

Oh I know they won't. I meant he'd fight anyone in regards to fighting anyone in the top of either of the two divisions. He doesn't strike me as the person to bitch and moan about not securing a big fight more that he'll just take whatever's there. It's admirable considering you have guys like Chad Dawson who I consider to be in the same boat as Bradley that stays away from fights because he thinks he's worth more than he is.

I agree but Devon Alexander called him out though and bradley was talking about building the fight more. Which he does have a legitimate point but as far as I'm concerned Alexander is right there waiting for him.
It'll happen if Alexander wins. Definitely seems like HBO wants it to happen and I have no doubt they'll be able to get the fight done. They both have decent hometown fanbases (Alexander probably better) so ticket sales wouldn't be a problem, put the fight in St. Louis and throw Angulo vs. Spinks on the undercard since it'd be dealing with the same promoters and BOOM you got yourself a pretty nice card.

Did ANYONE see the latest Danny Green fight? Yo something is seriously wrong here, either this guy has CEMENT in his gloves or fights are being fixed!! I know we got a couple Ausie members here I would love to hear what the media is saying over there.

Here is the video of the KO punch that occured in 29 seconds first round. As you can see a GLANCING JAB landed. That's it! So either his glove is ROCK HARD or dude took a dive and a bad one at that.

If you guys recall, not long ago he knocked out roy jones in the first round. Jones went down from a GLANCING shot to the side of the head. Jones later accused Green of loading his gloves. You can see in this picture jones after the fight raising his hands but smartly, feeling his gloves to see if something was up. If you recall, Green refused to take his gloves off in the ring after the fight...

Danny Green just killed boxing in Australia. Way to go...

Briggs' 29-second fiasco has bookies fearing a fix
JAMIE PANDARAM
July 22, 2010

BETTING agencies will today demand that the International Boxing Organisation launch an investigation into the farcical result of Danny Green's title defence in Perth last night against Paul Briggs, fearing a fix.

Green's angry reaction to Briggs's capitulation within 30 seconds rivalled that of the stunned audience's. Briggs went down to a glancing jab that appeared to hit his glove, not his head, and he stayed down for the full count. The fight was over in 29 seconds.

Hundreds of thousands of dollars were lodged with bookmakers yesterday on the result being a first-round knockout, and it's likely they will withhold payment until an investigation is concluded.

Too many people knew about Briggs's problems for this fight to have been staged. It was an utter embarrassment.

Briggs was ushered out of the arena, sheltered from flying bottles, and bookmakers were quickly scrambling.

Green screamed at Briggs: ''You f---ing dog'' as the referee waved off the contest.

He added soon after: ''Paul Briggs is not getting paid a cent. That is criminal, what he did. I will rise above that canine and apologise.

''I am feeling very, very angry.''

Betezy, whose affiliated Fightbet offshoot sponsored the fight, is not paying on the first-round knockout until it gets an official response from investigators.

''It looks very suspect,'' said Betezy general manager Ryan Kay. ''He didn't hit him, he has touched him and he has just taken a fall.

''We will be taking this to higher levels with the IBO.''

The heavy betting prompted Kay to call the Green camp earlier in the day, asking if the fight was legit.

Green's rival, Nader Hamdan, was quick to castigate the champion, who retained his IBO cruiserweight title. ''What does he expect from someone that has been retired nearly four years, calling him all those names,'' Hamdan said.

''Everyone knew that Paul had some issues. All the boxing people knew, Paul wasn't what he was years ago. I don't know why he's blowing up. I will step up and fight him any day, there's Dominic Vea, there's plenty of good cruiserweights around for him to choose.''

Before the main event started, Briggs's trainer, Billy Hussein, expressed disappointment at the amount of time given his fighter to prepare for the contest.

Briggs, who weighed in 3.2 kilograms over the agreed limit of 84kg requested by Green (the cruiserweight limit is 90.7kg), looked sluggish from the outset.

Green jabbed him once to the body, then threw the contentious punch that put Briggs down on his haunches, unable to rise by the count of 10.

''I want to go into the changeroom now and give him a fight,'' Green fumed. ''That was a black eye for boxing.''

Green's next possible opponent, Shane Cameron, likewise hardly showed the explosive form that will have boxing fans salivating at the prospect of the pair meeting later this year.

Cameron easily won his 10-round heavyweight bout against Daniel Ammann via unanimous decision, but his performance was more workmanlike than thunderous, and the power that allowed him to stop 20 of his previous 26 opponents was clearly lacking.

Cameron had lost 13kg in a bid to move towards cruiserweight in a bid to challenge Green, but strength was also left behind.

''I didn't have the spark tonight but that is just the body getting used to it,'' Cameron said. ''I am looking for a fight with Danny Green, that is what we want, this is a step closer to it.''
