Can't really be mad at Top Rank for cashing out on him. He puts asses in the seats...they're throwing him the sheep to protect their investment. Nobody is expecting this kid to be anything more than what he is, honestly.

tony you watching the holyfield fight? lol

I heard they added a bunch of other young guys to the card:

Monte Barrett vs Charles Davis
Travis Kauffman vs Julius Long
Cedric Boswell vs Dominique Alexander

Lennox Lewis, Larry Holmes, Tyson to attend Holyfield-Williams fight

Evander Holyfield will have more adversaries outside of the ring than it.

The Greenbrier announced Tuesday Lennox Lewis and Larry Holmes will be in attendance for the prize fight against Sherman Williams Saturday night.

Holyfield has faced both boxers during his career, as well as Mike Tyson who was previously announced to attend “Redemption in America: The Journey Begins Now,” and all three will witness as the 48-year-old “Real Deal” Holyfield attempts to climb to the top as the World Boxing Federation heavyweight champion.

It’s expected to be a star-studded, black-tie event with plenty of celebrities coming to support Holyfield.

“I know we’ve had some requests, but I do not know who has confirmed,” Lynn Swann, director of public relations for The Greenbrier, said. “Certainly, having Lewis and Holmes in Holyfield’s corner will add to the excitement, along with performances by Clarence Clemons and others.”

Williams (34-11, 19 KOs) will certainly have his hands full with Holyfield (43-10-2, 28 KOs), but Holyfield’s high-profile supporters could spare some advice considering each has faced “The Real Deal.”

Holyfield faced both Lewis and Tyson twice. Holyfield’s first bout with Lewis ended in a contested draw, but Lewis prevailed in the rematch. Twice, Holyfield fought Tyson with an 11th-round win in the first and the infamous ear biting that led to Tyson’s disqualification in the latter.

Holyfield defeated Holmes in 1992 as a then-42-year old Holmes attempted his own comeback bid.

Beyond that, the attending fighters have their own history with Tyson who has faced both Lewis and Holmes.

Besides the Holyfield-Williams main event, three other fights will be featured as part of the pay-per-view portion of the evening beginning at 9 p.m.

Lithuanian Donatas Boundoravas (10-1-1, 3 KOs) will battle undefeated Detroit native Willie Fortune (9-0, 5 KOs) in a six-round middleweight fight to begin the pay-per-view event. Next, former world heavyweight title challenger Monte “Two Gunz” Barrett (34-9, 20 KOs) will fight former World Boxing Council Latino Heavyweight Champion Charles Davis (19-21-2, 4 KOs) in a 10-round heavyweight match.

The co-feature event will match Travis “GW Hope” Kauffman (21-1, 18 KOs), a World Boxing Federation Intercontinental Champion, against 7-1 giant Julius “Towering Inferno” Long (15-14, 13 KOs) in an eight-round heavyweight fight.

Three other fights will be featured on the undercard that will start at 7 p.m., but will not be shown on pay-per-view.

Announcers for the pay-per-view event will be Al Bernstein and Benny Ricardo with Jimmy Lennon Jr. as the ring announcer.

The event will take place in The Greenbrier’s Colonial Hall with seating for approximately 1,000, Swann said.

The pay-per-view portion is $29.95 and can be ordered through iN Demand, DIRECTV, Avail-TVN and DISH Network.

Ticket and hotel packages can be purchased at www.greenbrier.com or by calling 1-800-453-4858. The deadline to book reservations is Friday.

I didn't see it but I know it's on youtube (read about it). Isn't chop chop just about shot though? Dude has lost 5 out of his last 6 fights.
Corley is clearly passed his best but besides the Hernandez fight that was out of his weight class he's still giving guys decent enough tests. For reference check out the Maidana/Corley fight that happened not too long and then peep this fight out. I'm not one to say a kid looks impressive over beating a shot fighter but just the way he fights, how he was relentless to the body, how he didn't go carried away when he hurt Chop Chop. Not a bad show .. Matthysse should be be in the big show again soon IMO.

Emanuel Augustus will be fighting Vernon Paris on the Bradley/Alexander undercard. Augustus is a late substitution for injured Tim Coleman. Unfortunately it wont' be televised, which is a shame as Augustus announced this will be his last fight he's retiring win lose or draw.

"MY FIGHT AGAINST VERNON PARIS WILL BE MY LAST. I AM RETIRING FROM THE SPORT. I WILL SPEAK MORE ABOUT IT AFTER THE FIGHT. I JUST WANTED TO LET PEOPLE WHO LIKE TO WATCH ME FIGHT KNOW SO THEY CAN TRY AND SEE IT. IT'S TOO BAD IT WONT BE ON TELEVISION BECAUSE I AM BACKING OUT OF THIS SALOON THE SAME WAY I WALKED IN, WITH BOTH GUNS BLAZING. THANK YOU FOR ALL YOUR SUPPORT THROUGH THE YEARS. PEACE."

that's what I thought as well. Just some local detroit kid.

Speaking of local detroit kid, Don King is a moron for not putting K9 on this card. Lot's of people in Detroit are interested in him and I'm sure that would spark more interest.

They really bumbled this entire card. It's going to be depressing to see Pontiac stadium only 5% filled with fans.

good stoppage in the Arreola fight, dude would never have recovered. He would have just took more and more punishment. Arreolas decent for a heavyweight these days but can't ever see him beating the Klitsckos so he's fucked till they retire or Haye or someone else beats them.

Ryol Li Lee [17-1-1] Vs. Akifumi Shimoda [22-2-1]
Takashi Uchiyama [16-0] Vs. Takashi Miura [20-1-2]

I recommend everyone here to check these fights out. Both fights for WBA titles and both fights were highly entertaining all between skilled fighters. The fights happened on 01/31 in Japan. Lee is the guy that upset Poonsawat last year to claim his belt and this is his first defense and Uchiyama has just been a crusher since stopping Salgado for his strap.

Here are the fights .. I'd recommend checking them out..

Ryol Li Lee Vs. Akifumi Shimoda for Lee's WBA super bantamweight title.

Takashi Uchiyama Vs. Takashi Miura for Uchiyama's WBA super featherweight title

^~~ The winner of this fight is supposedly in talks for a fight with Jason Litzau after Litzau's back to back upset wins.
