I'm so proud of comrade Jones:

Roy Jones: By Next Year I Hope I'll Be Speaking Russian

By Luke Furman

Former four division world champion Roy Jones Jr. (62-8, 45KOs), 46-years-old, hopes to be speaking fluently in Russian by next year. Last week Jones was granted Russian citizenship by President Vladimir Putin.

Jones has fought three times in the country and may fight there again in December. He is currently in Russia training the Chudinov brothers and Khabib Allakhverdiev for their upcoming fights.

Jones has had tours in the country, where he performed songs from his rap albums. He plans to open up a boxing school in the country and more concert tours are being worked out.

"Yes, I will learn Russian. I want to talk so well in Russian that you will easily understand me. I think that it will take about a year. I hope that by next year I will talk like a Russian," Jones said.

"I'm going to write and perform my new raps. There are so many people who know me, so that there are all sorts of areas of business that can be developed here. And - why not? Maybe I'll discover something new. And besides, I plan to open a boxing school in Russia. I'm 46 years old? To me that is just a number. My goal is to win the world title at cruiserweight. I'm still very motivated. I would like to make a couple of billion dollars. I want to develop my businesses in the United States and Russia."

Davey Browne Jr, a 28-year-old boxer from Australia, has died today in a Sydney hospital as a result of injuries suffered in a Friday fight, where he was knocked out in the 12th round by Carlo Magali of the Philippines.

Browne, who led on all three scorecards at the time of the KO, regained consciousness in the ring before sliding off his stool, unconscious once again. He was taken to Liverpool Hospital in critical condition, and never regained consciousness.

John McDougall, the president of the Australian National Boxing Federation, said Browne Jnr had been injured earlier in the fight but told the referee he wanted to continue.

... "It's really easy in hindsight for people to cry that the fight should have been stopped and unfortunately the officials are in the position that they have to make a decision and they based it on their experience and that Davey himself said he was quite okay and wanted to continue," Mr McDougall said.

Browne went 22-2-1 with 8 KO wins in his career, which began on October 7, 2005, in Sydney. Every bout of his career was fought in Australia, and he was probably most known for a 2009 loss to Billy Dib, who would go on to win the IBF featherweight title in 2011.

BLH sends our condolences to the loved ones of Davey Browne Jr.

Undefeated heavyweight Gerald "El Gallo Negro" Washington, (16-0, 11 KOs) battles Amir "Hardcore" Mansour (22-1, 16 KOs) in the 10-round main event on the Tuesday, October 13 edition of Premier Boxing Champions (PBC) TOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYS on FS1 and Fox Deportes from the Little Creek Resort Casino in Shelton, WA.

Also featured on the card are 2012 United States Olympian and undefeated heavyweight Michael Hunter, (9-0, 6KOs) and light heavyweight knockout artist Ahmed Elbiali, (12-0, 11KOs) in separate bouts. Televised coverage begins at 9 p.m. ET/6 p.m. PT.

"I'm looking forward to stepping into the ring with Amir Mansour," said Washington. "This is my time to make a statement. I will make an example of Amir Mansour to let the heavyweight division know that there's a new sheriff in town. No more 'Mr. Nice Guy', it's time for me to bring the pain!"

"Gerald Washington has not even come close to fighting someone of my caliber," said Mansour. "He has zero advantage except for height and I'm experienced enough to take that away. The match against me is going to introduce Washington to an entirely new world of fighting and I'm sure he isn't prepared for this type of fight."

Tickets for the live event, which is promoted by TGB Promotions, are priced at $100, $60, $40, $30 and $20, not including applicable service charges and taxes, and are on now on sale through the Little Creek Casino Resort through their website, www.Little-Creek.com or by calling 1-800-667-7711. The Little Creek Casino Resort is located at 91 W. State Route 108 in Shelton, Washington 98584. Doors will open on the night of the event at 5 p.m. PT.

"We're very excited to return to the Little Creek Resort Casino with this outstanding card," said Tom Brown of TGB Promotions. "Washington and Hunter are two of the brightest rising stars on the American heavyweight scene and Elbiali is one of the best light heavyweight prospects in boxing."

A two-way player (tight end and defensive end) at the University of Southern California, Washington spent time with the Seattle Seahawks and Buffalo Bills practice squads on his unconventional path that led him to boxing. The 33-year-old also worked in the Navy as a helicopter mechanic before going to USC and did not get his start in professional boxing until 2012. Fighting out of San Jose, California, he is yet to lose in his latest endeavor and most recently defeated Jason Gavern in March and will be facing his toughest competition against Mansour.

An exciting pressure fighter out of Wilmington, Delaware, Mansour looks for his third straight victory on October 13. The 43-year-old owns victories over Dominick Guinn, Epifanio Mendoza and Kelvin Price. His last two outings ended with an impressive knockout of Fred Kassi and a victory over Joey Dawejko.

Since turning professional in early 2013 following the London Olympic Games, the 27-year-old Hunter, fighting out of Las Vegas, NV, has continued to shine. With three victories in 2015, the last two by knockout he will be looking to march again into the win column.

A native of Cairo, Egypt now residing in Miami, FL the 24-year-old Elbiali makes a quick return to the ring following a first round knockout of Fabiano Peno on Tuesday, September 8 at the debut of FS1's TOE-TO-TOE TUESDAYS at the Hollywood, Palladium.

George Groves to ponder future, DeGale offers 90-10 split for rematch

By Scott Christ

George Groves says he's taking some time off, while James DeGale couldn't help but take a shot at his old rival with a mocking rematch offer.

George Groves went to 0-3 in world title fights this past Saturday night, when he lost a split decision against Badou Jackon the Mayweather-Berto undercard, which saw Jack retain his WBC super middleweight title, a bit of an upset given that Groves was the betting favorite going into the bout.

Groves (21-3, 16 KO) says he's going to take some time off and figure out where he wants to go next, which his promoters at Sauerland Event support.

"Ultimately it doesn't matter how you lose a world title fight, the feeling is much the same. ... I came very close to achieving a lifelong goal but it wasn't to be. I'm now going to spend some time with my family and decide upon my future."

Groves, 27, is now 2-3 in his last five fights, though the losses have all been more than respectable. A pair of well-fought stoppage defeats against Carl Froch are nothing to be ashamed of, and the loss to Jack was a valiant effort, especially considering Groves got dropped in the very first round. But it does beg the question of whether or not Groves can get over the hump. Jack was seen going in as a fairly soft world titleholder, and you have to wonder if the losses have taken their toll on Groves at a young age, too.

One option apparently still open is a rematch with IBF titleholder James DeGale, an old rival of Groves' going back to their days as youth amateurs. Groves beat DeGale by a razor thin margin in 2011, but they're both different, more mature fighters now. Well, it's still an option if Groves wants to give DeGale more than just the lion's share, anyway.

"As I said, I'm in boxing for the big fights and if the British public want it and demand it, let's do it. But we'll have to negotiate the purse. Maybe 90 [per cent for me]... 10 per cent to him. We'll see."

DeGale (21-1, 14 KO) beat Andre Dirrell to win the vacant IBF belt on May 23, after Carl Froch vacated and later retired from the sport. DeGale had been Froch's

That list is bullshit.

Until Floyd officially retires, meaning he is no longer a champ in any weight class and the belts are vacant, he is NUMBER ONE. Ward has fought NO ONE to earn him that number two slot. People are going by what he did 4 or 5 years ago. That was 4 or 5 years ago. What has he done within the last two years? Nothing. Canelo should be on that list. Look at the caliber of opponents Canelo has faced going back to 2012 and look at Wards opposition. It's comedy.

Fuck that list.

Yeah man wtf has Ward done lately? Beat Paul Smith? It's been a few years since he's beat anyone worth a damn. I think he's one of the best in the sport but like you said he shouldn't get a #2 ranking off shit he did years ago.

I guess his latest thing is he was going to be on the Canelo Cotto undercard but he's demanding a split of the ppv revenue lol how delusional can he be? As if anyone would be ordering that ppv for ward, a fight between two of the biggest Latino fighters in the sport and Ward wants a cut of the ppv? Andre Winky Ward should be his name lol he is out of his mind

Tim Bradley Says Teddy Atlas Will Eliminate 'Mortal Sins'

Posted by: Steve Kim on 9/17/2015 .

By Steve Kim

As he embarks on his journey to face Brandon Rios on November 7th at the Thomas and Mack Center in Las Vegas, Tim Bradley will be doing so with a new trainer - Teddy Atlas, best known nowadays for being the color commentator for ESPN.

Atlas is a no-nonsense disciplinarian, which is just fine with 'the Desert Storm' who recently broke off his decade-long union with trainer Joel Diaz.

"I'm expecting discipline, I'm expecting actually to work on my mistakes. I make a lot of mistakes in my fights and we're going to eliminate those mistakes," said Bradley, who has a record of 32-1-1(12 KO's) and has captured multiple world titles at super lightweight and welterweight.

"Teddy told me that there's mortal sins and there's small sins. I've been committing mortal sins. I've been doing things I shouldn't be doing that's why I've been taking as much punishment as I have been. That's why my eyes been swollen up in my previous couple of fights and getting hit with big shots over the top, different things."

In Bradley's last bout on June 27th, he was hit be a massive right hand in the final seconds against Jesse Vargas and was wobbled badly but was able to see the finish line(with the help of referee Pat Russell, who mistakenly thought the 10-second warning signal was the bell - and he stopped the 12th round a few seconds early).

"So we're going to eliminate those mortal sins for this fight and I should come out victorious because I know how to fight," said Bradley, who says that Atlas - who resides in Staten Island, New York - will come out west to the Palm Springs region to train him.

As for him missing any days in camp, which was a problem for Bradley when it come to Diaz, he stated - "Teddy will not be missing any days for this training camp."

There is something wrong with Ward. Instead of campaigning at his current weight class and in the weight class he won a gold medal in (LHW) he wants to call out smaller fighters like GGG and Floyd. The man needs to focus on his career and fighting the best he can fight, getting his money on and doing shit in a realistic way instead of the fuck shit he's doing. Hell no he can't get a cut of that PPV money. The fight between that bitch Cotto and Canelo would still sell even if there were no undercard so who the fuck does he think he is?
