Golovkin would end Chavez's career. Chavez has a good chin which means he'd take serious punishment.

Golovkin already embarrassed Chavez in his own gym and he'd embarrass him again. Golovkin is highly skilled, Chavez is not. Mexican power? How come he didn't stop Vera? How come he didn't stop Rubio? These are guys who have been knocked out before. Yeah, he knocked down Sergio well guess what? Paul Williams knocked down Sergio. Macklin knocked down Sergio. Murray knocked down Sergio. Barker knocked down Sergio. Sergio always gets knocked down.

Like I said, Jr in shape. And it was just a sparring sesh with GGG and Jr. When you are a fighter and you spar, sometimes the sessions are intended for a fighter to just get hit, work on defense, offense, etc. That sparring vid was just that, a spar. Don't ever take a sparring video serious unless egos get out of control or it's a Mike Tyson clip.

Roy Jones Jr. Vs Bobby Gunn In Play For December

Hackensack, NJ – Former IBA, WBC USNBC and WBA NABA cruiserweight titlist Bobby “The Celtic Warrior” Gunn will have a career defining opportunity when he meets former pound for pound king Roy Jones Jr. in December in Pennsylvania.

Gunn, who sports a professional ledger of 21-5-1 with 18 wins by knockout, fought James Toney and Tomasz Adamek in his last two bouts but came up short both times. A legendary bare knuckle boxer whose bouts have been viewed more than 600,000 times on YouTube, Gunn also won other cruiserweight belts and was rated in the top 10 by the WBA and WBC. The heavy-handed New Jersey based Canadian was on the verge of retiring but had interest in fighting Jones Jr. for a number of years.

“I’ve wanted a match up with Roy for quite some time but it never worked out for a number of reasons,” stated Gunn. "We’ve been working on this for awhile and I wasn’t sure if it was ever going to happen but I’m glad it will. People can say what they want about Roy and I at this stage but this is an extremely important fight. The winner will take a huge step forward and the loser is at the end of the road.”

One of the greatest fighters in boxing history, Roy Jones Jr. is one of the few boxers of any era that truly doesn’t need an introduction. In 64 professional bouts, Jones Jr. is an outstanding 56-8 with 40 wins by way of knockout. The former middleweight, undisputed light heavyweight and heavyweight titleholder has wins over boxing greats Bernard Hopkins, Felix Trinidad, the aforementioned Toney and Hall of Famer Virgil Hill amongst others. In his most recent bout, Jones Jr. traveled to Poland and topped unbeaten hometown favorite Pawel Glazewski.

Jones Jr.-Gunn is scheduled for 12 rounds in the cruiserweight division. The card is promoted by Jones Jr’s Square Ring Promotions and the exact date and location along with undercard bouts will be announced shortly.

Austin Trout vs. Erislandy Lara for vacant WBA 154 lb. title

Lara Trout Lara vs. Trout erislandy lara austin trout By Dan Ambrose: The December 7th fight between Erislandy Lara (18-1-2, 12 KO’s) and former WBA light middleweight champion Austin Tout (26-1, 14 KO’s) will have the vacant WBA 154 lb. title on the line for the fight at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. Trout, 28, used to possess the WBA title until losing a controversial 12 round unanimous decision to the highly hyped Saul “Canelo” Alvarez last April in San Antonio, Texas.

It was a very questionable decision because Trout had seemingly done more than enough to get the victory, yet the judges gave the fight to Canelo. One judge had Canelo winning almost every round of the fight by scoring it 118-109. It was pretty sad scoring by that judge and another black eye for the sport.

Trout has been trying to get a rematch against Canelo ever since but he’s been ignored. Canelo took a fight against Floyd Mayweather Jr. last September and was trounced by him. Since his loss, Canelo still hasn’t shown any interested in wanting to mix it up with Trout again. Trout says he’d like to fight Canelo in Las Vegas, Nevada next time instead of Texas. I can’t blame him. That was a pretty isolated place without almost zero Trout fans.

Lara is coming off of a less than impressive 10th round TKO win over Alfredo Angulo last June. Lara ran out of gas after the first three rounds of the fight and was knocked down in the 4th and 9th rounds. However, he lucked out due to Angulo’s right eye closing on him completely. In the 10th, Angulo opted to quit fighting after getting hit hard on his badly swollen and painful-looking right eye. Lara got the victory but it was hardly an impressive performance by any means. It was more of a win due to an injury than actual win, because if Angulo’s eye didn’t close on him, he would have continued dominating Lara and likely knocked him out.

In his previous fight before that, Lara fought to a 9 round technical draw against Vanes Martirosyan last year in November. That fight was halted after an accidental head-butt caused a big cut over the left eye of Martiriosyan.

Lara has victories over Freddy Hernandez, Ronald Hearns, and Delray Raines in the past two years. In July of 2011, Lara was beaten by Paul Williams by a controversial 12 round majority decision. A lot of boxing fans thought that Lara should have gotten the victory, but it wasn’t his luck on that night. In his fight before that, Lara fought to a 10 round draw against Carlos Molina in March of 2011. I had Molina winning that one, as Lara couldn’t handle the inside fighting ability of Molina and he was getting dominated in that fight.

Trout should be a big problem for Lara in this fight due to his boxing ability, power and elusiveness. Trout will no doubt be putting a lot of pressure on Lara looking to duplicate what Angulo had done to him in their recent fight. If Trout can keep the pressure on Lara, he should be able to stop him.

NE IS OFF DUE TO BREACH OF CONTRACT
By Press Release | October 21, 2013

Scheduled to face Anthony Mundine at the Sydney Entertainment Centre in Australia on October 23, boxing superstar Sugar Shane Mosley will instead be going home after a breach of contract by the event's co-promoter, Millennium Events, prompting his withdrawal from the fight.

"I'm very disappointed with this turn of events because I was planning on making a big statement by beating Mundine, but I was left with no choice but to withdraw," said Shane Mosley. "The fans in Australia have welcomed me with open arms, and I hope to return to fight for them one day in better circumstances."

"It's unfortunate that this fight will not be taking place, and we apologize to all of Shane's Australian fans, but there are contracts in place for a reason, and when the terms are not adhered to, we have no choice but to protect our fighter, and that's what happened here," said Richard Schaefer, CEO of Golden Boy Promotions.

Fenech Loses $460,000 With Mosley-Mundine Crumbling

Jeff Fenech says he's the biggest loser - $460,000 out of pocket - after Shane Mosley walked away from his fight with Anthony Mundine just hours before the weigh-in.

Fenech says he put up the money in advance to get Mosley to Sydney for Wednesday's scheduled WBA light-middleweight bout because promoter Vlad Warton couldn't afford it.

But Mosley abandoned the fight, flying home on Tuesday, claiming a breach of contract after he was not paid the balance of his $1 million purse on Monday for the fight.

And Fenech, who says he didn't know Mosley was due to be paid before the fight, is heavily out of pocket.

"If I'd have known that, I wouldn't have given him - I gave him $460,000," Australian boxing great Fenech said on Tuesday morning.

"I certainly wouldn't have done that if I thought the fight wasn't going to go ahead because my guarantee was that when the fight went ahead, (with) the pay-per-view money and the pub and club money that I'd be paid back, but now it doesn't look like it."

Fenech said he put up the cash after Warton, whom he has known for many years, asked him to "give him a hand" with the down payment because he couldn't fund it himself.

"I was just trying to be nice," the 49-year-old said.

"Vlad Warton told me he needed $US 300,000 as a start to getting here, then another $US 100,000 for all his expenses, and a little more."

"So I accommodated for all that, and now they've gone home so I'm really left with nothing.

"It's going to be a little bit tough for a while."

Fenech added that while "bloody money" had gotten in the way, he believed it saved Mundine from certain defeat.

"Being honest, I watched Shane Mosley train throughout the whole 10 days, two weeks that he's been here and I wouldn't give Anthony a chance," said Fenech.

"It was a great opportunity for Anthony but, watching him train, I thought Shane was a class above what I've seen here for a long time," said Fenech.

"It's a pity we didn't get to see the skills of Shane Mosley and we didn't get to see Anthony Mundine fighting one of the greatest fighters in history."

Fenech is a scam artist. It was in the contract that Mosley was to be paid a million before the fight which is not uncommon for bigger name guys especially when fighting overseas. They projected 9,000 in ticket sales and around 100,000 Australian PPV buys but only about 1,200 bought tickets and PPV didn't look promising so they were gonna short Mosley. Can't blame him for walking away if the promoter isn't doing what was in the contract.

It was a shit fight anyway.

IBF's Refusal of Ortiz-Molina Leaves Hole on 12/14

looks like we might get ortiz/mosley instead now i hope golden boy pulls it off...

By Rick Reeno

Golden Boy Promotions' scheduled Showtime pay-per-view, on December 14th, took a big hit on Tuesday, when the International Boxing Federation refused to sanction a junior middleweight title fight between IBF champion Carlos Molina (22-5-2, 6KOs) and the returning Victor Ortiz (29-4-2, 22KOs).

Golden Boy was working hard on trying to get Ortiz ranked at 154, but the sanctioning body held their position on refusing to allow the Molina fight to go forward (at least as a title fight). Ortiz, inactive since June 2012, was returning from back to back knockout defeats and had never fought above the welterweight limit.

"I just heard about it. I knew they were trying to get Ortiz ranked and obviously we wanted the fight, it's a high profile fight, number two on the card," said Molina's promoter, Leon Margules of Warriors Boxing, to BoxingScene.com.

The fight between Ortiz and Molina was the co-featured attraction to the headliner of Adrien Broner vs. Marcos Maidana, taking place at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas.

Golden Boy's CEO, Richard Schaefer, is on his way to the East Coast, where his company is staging a Showtime televised tripleheader on Saturday night from the Boardwalk Hall in Atlantic City.

Because the IBF's decision came down a few hours ago, no determination had been made on whether or not Ortiz will remain on the card against a different opponent or if Golden Boy will put together an entirely new contest.

One possible option could be a fight between Ortiz and former three division world champion Shane Mosley, who on Monday officially withdrew from his Wednesday fight in Sydney with Anthony Mundine. The fight was scheduled to take place at junior middleweight and Mosley has gone through a very tough training camp.

Mosley had previously been offered a fight with Ortiz, but took a pass on the opportunity because Australian promoter Vlad Wharton promised a fee of $1 million dollars to face Mundine. Wharton advanced a sum of $300,000 but breached the agreement by failing to pay Mosley the remaining $700,000 before the fight.

James Prince, who manages Mosley, told BoxingScene that his fighter is certainly interested in fighting on December 14th with Ortiz - if the financial terms could be worked out.

Reports from San Diego are indicating that Mexican fighter Francisco Leal passed away due to severe injuries suffered during Saturday's knockout loss to Raul Hirales in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico. After getting knocked out by Raul Hirales, the boxer appeared to be in bad condition and he was transfered to a hospital Cabo San Lucas, where he fell in a coma. The doctors discovered the boxer had brain clots from the damage sustained in the contest and he was transferred for further treatment in La Paz and then to San Diego. Leal, who made his debut in January 2005, was 26-years-old and had a record of 20 wins, 13 by knockout, 8 losses and 3 draws.
