can't really rank berto too highly since he hasn't really done anything at 147.

But he's a fine fighter. Flawed, but he has some power and speed. His footwork is god awful though.

If Berto was white/mexican/asian bigface would call him a bum that cherry picks 135/140 pound fighters (stevie forbes, Urango, Ortiz & now Guerrero).
You're the Mod and you're co-signing this race biting BS because I hurt your E-feelings with facts and proved your double standards and double talking ways wrong.. lol.. The pin is mighter then the sword in this case the keybroad. You mad bro??

Is Morales a cheater too. Or do you only care when it's a black fighter because I see no post of this in here. Was Morales cheating his whole career or was it just a mistake?? lol You clown that call me racist eplain this to me.. You guys had a lot to say about Peterson and Berto now talk about Morales.. lol
Do you even know what clen is?
Do you know what Deca is?
If you knew what they were, what they are used for, and how it gets in your system you wouldn't even ask such a retarded question.

Berto got suspended, fights off, discredited and fined. It's an underground androgenic steroid oil that needs to be injected into your muscle.

Morales got a "well, it's less in Sample B so it's OK". It's a little pill that your doctor can give you and there are several OTC meds that will show up as it being clen.

That should tell you in itself.

Peterson tested positive for elevated testosterone levels. You can't fake that. It's a full blown hormone. The main anabolic, the staple itself.

Learn your PED's before trying to compare.

Plus I never called you out for being a racist. I said your biased.

He hasn't done nothing but become a two time 147lb champion. His last fight he TKO'ed the undefeated IBF champ. But sure Berto didn't do nothing. Lara wins a 10 round UD against Freddy Hernandez and 206 was saying how it was a great win, but Berto KO'ed Freddy Hernandez in 1 round and Berto has fought nothing but bum. lol.. What about Berto KO'ing Carlos Quintana who fights at 154lb now? Was he a bum too. Berto is one of the better guys at 147lb.

LOL.. At Bigface is a racist because he calls me out on my lying and double talking ways. lol.. Now I'm a racist.. lol..
Berto's resume at 147 is hella weak man. He's a two time paper champ. First belt was a vacant belt they just handed to him. Second belt was against some euro guy, Za-za-vvvvvk, fuck I can't even say his name. And btw Berto didn't look that good against Zzzzvvvk either, he looked sloppy and was lucky to get the cut victory.

Did you just bring up Quintana? Is that like Berto's best win? damn, if that's true, what a horrible run at welterweight he's had.

The best opponents Berto fought, he lost to.

Collazo and Ortiz.

And neither are all that.

Not a very strong resume.

But I like Berto, I want to see him get better and do better. It is funny though specifically the guys you constantly hate on for not having "skills" but defend certain types of fighters who lack those very same skills!

Why is Floyd hiding?
October 20th, 2012 | Post Comment

Money Manyweather floyd mayweather jr By John F. McKenna (McJack): Many boxing pundits and fans are puzzled as to why undefeated superstar WBA light middleweight champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (43-0, 26 KO’s) has been so quiet since he was released from the Clark County Detention Center in Las Vegas in early August.

Nobody thought that “Money May” would immediately step up and take on a top notch opponent after being incarcerated for two months. But neither did anyone think that Floyd would go into hibernation as he apparently has done for the past two and a half months.

Some diehard boxing enthusiasts were of the mindset that the long anticipated dream match between Floyd Mayweather Jr. and the other boxing superstar of this generation, Filipino icon and fighter of the decade Manny Pacquiao (54-4-2, 38 KO’s) would finally come to fruition.

In the past there were many roadblocks which prevented the Mayweather – Pacquiao fight from happening. And as is usually the case in major disputes there was enough blame to go around for everyone involved. Initially the big stumbling block was Pacquiao’s refusal to accept the Olympic style drug testing that Mayweather demanded. To be fair to Floyd he wants to have a level playing field for anyone he takes on in the ring. In light of the many recent instances in which fighters have tested positive for Performance Enhancing Drugs (PEDS) Mayweathers demand does not seem to be at all unreasonable. After all a fighter puts himself at risk whenever he enters the ring. The risk is only magnified if your opponent has the advantage of using PEDS.

It took Pacquiao a significant amount of time to remove the biggest hurdle by finally agreeing to the random Olympic style drug testing that Mayweather demanded many months ago. Unfortunately there were more hurdles to overcome. The money split that each fighter was to receive for the Mega fight then became the chief stumbling block. Floyd as always was adamant that he would be calling the shots and that he deserved a much higher share of the revenue because of his past Pay Per View (PPV) performance.

Then Manny made the concession which many fans hoped would remove the money split hurdle by agreeing to take a much smaller cut of the revenue. But there was one more hurdle. Pacquiao had an ongoing defamation lawsuit against Mayweather. The reasoning by the Mayweather camp was how can we realistically negotiate a deal when the other party has a lawsuit against us?

But that obstacle too was removed when the Pacquiao and Mayweather camps settled the lawsuit. So it appears on the surface at least that all the major issues which have prevented the Mayweather – Pacquiao fight from happening have been settled.

Still there is no word from the Mayweather camp regarding what it would now take for Floyd to come to an agreement with the Pacquiao camp. The question many boxing observers are now asking is, why does the normally vocal Floyd Mayweather Jr. now have nothing to say? Are there other obstacles he will use to prevent the Mayweather – Pacquiao fight from happening? The ball is in Floyd’s court and the world is watching.

Cotto Calls Arum A Damn Liar

By Jhonny Gonzalez

Former three division world champion Miguel Cotto (37-3, 30KOs) is very happy with his decision to become a free agent. For nearly his entire career the Puerto Rican boxer was promoted by Top Rank. The promotional agreement ran out on December 31 of last year.

Cotto now uses his own company, Miguel Cotto Promotions, to promote his career. He worked with Golden Boy Promotions for the May fight with Floyd Mayweather Jr. He will work with them again on December 1, when he challenges junior middleweight champion Austin Trout.

Cotto has no complaints about his past business relationship with Top Rank.

"I have no complaints whatsoever with Top Rank. They did a great job with me. I am very grateful to them. What I am today, I owe greatly to Top Rank. But I want my business to grow. You get better every day and this is the way to do it. So we had the opportunity to [become a free agent] and we are now in a better position," Cotto told Paul Maldonado.

"We have no middlemen here. We make the decisions."

Having the ability to promote himself is what led Cotto to reject an offer to fight Manny Pacquiao in a December rematch. Cotto was stopped by Pacquiao in the twelfth round of a bout fought in 2009 at a catch-weight of 145-pounds.

Cotto continues to dispute the amount of money presented to him by Top Rank's CEO Bob Arum.

"[The offer was] far from $13 million. No disrespect to Mr. Bob Arum, but if that is what he told you [the media], and if you're asking me about it - then I have to say that he's a liar, that is a total lie. Bob Arum never came to us with that kind of offer. I can only say that it is completely a lie," said Cotto.

"The offer was very similar, if not equal, to what we received in 2009. To do this [rematch], we had to go to 150 pounds for them to regain the advantage of making me lose weight. With those two factors in perspective [the weight and the money], we said no to the fight."

Danny Garcia: Matthysse isn’t one of the best fighters at 140
October 21st, 2012 | Post Comment

Garcia Morales Garcia vs. Morales lucas matthysse danny garcia (Photo credit: Naoki Fakuda) By Dan Ambrose: It looks like the ducking is already starting for WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (25-0, 15 KO’s) after having stopped Erik Morales (52-9, 36 KO’s) in the fourth round in their rematch last night in Brooklyn, New York. Garcia did a good job of putting Morales out of his misery with a nice left hook to the head that rendered him senseless.

However, after the fight when Garcia was questioned about whether or not he’d be interested in fighting interim WBC light welterweight champion Lucas Matthysse (32-2, 30 KO’s), Garcia said “To me, Lucas Matthysse isn’t one of the best. He doesn’t got a title. I can beat anybody.”

That doesn’t sound like Garcia wants to mix it up with the hard hitting Matthysse, does it? Garcia may not have much choice because he’s going to have to fight Matthysse next year or else he’ll be stripped of his WBC title by the World Boxing Council.

For Garcia to be able to avoid the fight with with Matthysse, he’s going to have to get the WBC to agree to let him bypass the fight for him to fight whoever that he feels is a good fighter. Garcia’s promoters at Golden Boy Promotion are looking at putting Garcia in with Zab Judah next, and that’s likely going to require that the WBC let Garcia take that fight because Judah isn’t ranked in the top 15 by either the WBC or the WBA. Garcia just fought an optional title defense against 36-year-old Morales, so he’s supposed to be fighting Matthysse next.

Garcia looks like of silly now with Richard Schaefer, the CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, saying he wants to match Garcia up with Judah, who was blown out by Amir Khan. Judah doesn’t have a title, and he’s probably not going to be winning any more titles unless he can get lucky and possibly pick one up off of Lamont Peterson. Matthysse not having a title was one of Garcia’s argument for not wanting to fight him.

It just looks like Golden Boy Promotions is having Garcia build a career on fighting older fighters that are past their best. Garcia beat 36-year-old Morales twice, Nate Campbell and now it’s going to be Judah. It kind of reminds you a little bit of how Chad Dawson was matched against older fighters like Antonio Tarver, Glen Johnson and Bernard Hopkins.

Quillin vs. Golovkin: An excellent unification fight
October 21st, 2012 | Post Comment

peter quillin gennady golovkin By Dan Ambrose: Peter Quillin (28-0, 20 KO’s) looked good in beating WBO middleweight champion Hassan N’Dam N’Jikam by a 12 round unanimous decision last Saturday night to claim the World Boxing Organization title. It’s now his and the question is what will Quillin do with the title. Given that there’s not a lot of exciting fights for him if he merely looks to defend the title against the top contenders the WBO has listed.

The best Quillin can hope for are fights against Martin Murray, Dmitriy Pirog, Marco Antonio Rubio, Jermain Taylor and Anthony Mundine. I don’t the interest from the boxing community would be fight for those fights. But what would be interesting is a unification bout between Quillin and WBA World middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin (24-0, 21 KO’s).

That would be exciting match-up because unlike N’Dam, a fighter that only had marginal power, Golovkin can actually punch. He can also fight well on the inside, and it would be interesting to see how Quillin does against him. It would be an exciting fight for as long as it lasts, and I could see one of these guys getting knocked out.

I have doubts that Quillin’s promoter would allow him to fight Golovkin, though, due to his huge one-punch power, his better skills and his far superior inside fighting ability. Golovkin would be a potential nightmare for Quillin if he took the fight in close where Quillin is vulnerable. N’Dam didn’t seem to understand that the only place where he had a fighting chance at winning was in close. Towards the end of the fight, N’Dam did crowd Quillin a bit but not enough and his chin wasn’t good enough to take Quillin’s power even there. However, he had much less worries when he was in close and he did a good a job for the most part during the brief moments he took the fight to the inside.

Golovkin vs. Quillin would big fight for both guys because neither of them have a real name in the middleweight division, and both need an important victory to get them on the map. Quillin’s fight against N’Dam definitely helped his career, but he needs another fight like that to get him to the next level, and Golovkin would be perfect for him.

Broner needs to move up to 140 and fight Danny Garcia
October 21st, 2012 | Post Comment

danny garcia adrien broner (Photo credit: Naoki Fakuda) By Scott Gilfoid: Former WBO super featherweight champion Adrien Broner (24-0, 20 KO’s) needs to hurry up and clean out the lightweight division so that he can move up to light welterweight and take out the champions like WBA/WBC light welterweight champion Danny Garcia (25-0, 16 KO’s) and Lamont Peterson. Broner has an uninteresting fight against WBC lightweight champion Antonio DeMarco (28-2-1, 21 KO’s) on November 17th at the Boardwalk Hall, in Atlantic City, New Jersey.

HBO will be televising the fight, and while some boxing fans are looking forward to the fight as if it’s going to be a competitive fight, it really won’t be. Broner is going to destroy the skinny, stork-like DeMarco within four or five rounds at best. DeMarco is considered by many to be the best fighter in the lightweight division, at least he was considered to be the best until Broner got there. He’s now second best.

After Broner destroys DeMarco, there really isn’t anyone else for Broner to fight. WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns will likely never agree to fight Broner, so that’s a waste of time, and Broner can’t force Burns to vacate because once Broner has the WBC title he’ll be a champion, not a contender anymore.

Broner will be spinning his wheels if he wastes time trying to get Burns to fight him. This is why Broner needs to cut his losses and move up to 140 immediately after he beats DeMarco next month. I mean, I think Broner should briefly try and set up a fight with Burns, but once it’s clear that the fight isn’t happening, then Broner needs to move up to 140 and challenge Garcia.

I see Broner being able to beat Garcia with no problems. Broner will neutralize Garcia’s main weapon, his left hook quite easily. Without his left hook, Garcia will be a punching bag for Broner and will get eaten up by his pinpoint shots. That’ll be a sickening mismatch because Garcia doesn’t have the quickness or the same skills that Broner has, it’s not even close. Broner could move up now and immediately beat Garcia with ease if he wanted to. But it looks like Broner’s promoters are taking it slow with him by having him move up in weight in small increments. But seriously, the lightweight division is a useless trap for Broner, because of the lack of talent in the division.

Once DeMarco is out of the way, it’s nothing but weak paper champions and that’s not worthy of Broner to even waste time trying to fight them. He already tried to fight Burns once and he vacated, so you can kind of see the direction that Burns will be taking when Broner tries to get a fight with him again.

Shane Mosley interview: On a possible comeback, training fighters, Pacquiao-Marquez IV, Andre Ward, boxing’s future and much more!
By Jenna Jay, OnTheRopes Boxing Radio, Doghouse Boxing (Oct 23, 2012) Doghouse Boxing
-
Shane Mosley

Click to listen to On The Ropes # 179 in its entirety now!
I recently had a chance to catch up with former 3 division world champion 'Sugar' Shane Mosley on my boxing radio program "On The Ropes". Mosley last appeared in the May 5th of this past year in a losing effort to Saul Alvarez, a fight that resulted in Shane announcing his retirement from boxing. Shane discussed his last fight, his decision to retire from sport and the possibility of comeback. He also gave his views on the upcoming fourth bout between Pacquiao and Marquez, Andre Ward p4p ranking, and what boxing could do to fix some of its issues. Here is what Shane had to say...

Jenna Jay: Shane, the last time boxing fans saw you in the ring was against Saul Alvarez in a fight you lost, can you tell the fans why you decided to retire after it?

Shane Mosley: I think Saul Alvarez is a great young champion, he did a lot of great things in there, I just felt like my body was getting a little bit older, but I was tired then and now I’m just thinking things over. I feel good, I still go to the gym and train.

Jenna: You mention that you still train, they say boxing is the hardest sport to retire from due to the fact you can make so much money for one nights work. What do you do if someone offers you a big payday to return to the ring?

Mosley: Well at this point in my career my life is not really about money anymore, I made a substantial amount that I could live off of. It’s just that I love this sport, I mean I just love getting in the ring and training and stuff. But if they do throw a substantial amount of money my way I will be willing to get in the ring with anybody. I’ve been sparring around with different kids and stuff and I feel good still.

Jenna: From what you are saying Shane, it seems you have not closed the door to possibly making a comeback?

Mosley: Well you never know, I mean things could happen. Maybe I will just leave it alone and let my son do it, he’s training hard and getting something out it. I’m just looking forward to being around boxing period. I love this sport, I Iove everything about it. My sons boxing, I’m training kids in the Mosley boxing gym, I’m in the gym every day.

Jenna: You mentioned Shane Mosley Jr. You train him with your father. What’s it like training your own blood to enter the ring?

Mosley: He loves the sport. He loves to fight and it’s just kind of reliving the boxing world again. When you are a trainer, you are actually fighting yourself. So training my son I have to find ways of making him better and making him improve mentally, physically, emotionally, things I have been through I can kind of relay those things to him and tell him. He can kind of relay to me, as I can relay to him. I can tell him what I believe he is feeling, and what he’s going through at certain points of the training, cause I have been through it before, I know the danger that he can be feeling. I think he’s been doing very well, progressing and hopefully he can make the 2016 Olympics and then turn pro.

Jenna: Well besides training fighters, you also do commentary. Can you give your analyst prospective on the upcoming fourth bout between Manny Pacquiao and Juan Manuel Marquez?

Mosley: You can tell that Marquez is very determined, he’s really trying to get this fourth fight, a fourth win. I think it depends how hungry Pacquiao is to get a win, or actually get a knock out to make it clear cut. But it seems that Marquez is very difficult cause of his style, and styles make fights. It’s probably going to be another great fight.

Jenna: I recently had your trainer Naazim Richardson on my show, and he was talking about Andre Ward. Naazim said that we have not seen the best of Ward, but there is not fighter out there that will be able to challenge him enough to bring the best out of him. Do you believe that is true?

Mosley: At this point, yeah. He’s so far ahead of everybody, he is very in tune with himself, he works out very hard, he’s very serious about the boxing game. There might not be another guy, he kind of like Roy Jones, when Roy Jones was at his best, but there was nobody around that could fight him, nobody else in his league, Ward is kind of like that. I believe he dominates so good that he could be in the top 3 P4P best, or even 1 or 2.

Jenna: What do you think about the current state of boxing and it’s future?

Mosley: I think it should do very well, as long as we get these promoters together and help boxing be more publicized. I think that’s the real trick. Back when boxing was in supposedly in it’s heyday, back in like the 80’s, 70’s when they were on ABC and CBS it was being publicized a bit more, now it’s only HBO and Showtime, and just a hand full of fighters that get shown on TV, the marquee names that are making money. We need more fighters to be seen and visible so the sport can grow.

Jenna: Shane you left that door open to a comeback, what do you think would actually bring you back to fighting in the ring?

Mosley: I’m not sure, I just love to fight, just love being in battle. I’m just still kind of working around, training with different guys, training my son and even being in the ring now, and working with different guys. Just being in the ring sparring I make people say ‘WOW’ they don’t believe it, so we will see what happens.

Berto actually beat Collazo in a close all action fight. Lost to Ortiz in a close all action fight. Are you getting the pattern now Berto is always in a good all action fight. So after all the double talking in this post, you're basically just said that Berto is one of the top guys at 147lb. lol Which is what I already stated to begin with.. SMH.. You really are a double talking dumb ass.
