Andre Dirrell looked crazy good tonight. Besides the first round, which I thought he lost, he battered Anthony Hanshaw. His hand speed was insane, his hooks were getting off nice, he switched from orthodox to southpaw almost flawlessly and then stopped him in the 5th.

.. I'm not one to start ranting and raving over one fight but Hanshaw is far from a scrub fighter and Dirrell made him look like he shouldn't have been there. I can't wait to see Dirrell fight again if he keeps fighting like this.

I highly recommend checking this fight out if you didn't catch it.

@ 2-0-sixx or anybody are they going to show the undercards tonight? I though Victor Ortiz was supposed to b fighting on the DLH/Forbes card?
Yea, he's fighting some scrub on there because Linares/Dib got scrapped. They aren't showing it on HBO but if you can find a link to the UK stream they usually show a few undercard fights.

Oscar looks good, i like his focus and the way hes using his jab.
he threw his jab which was absent against Floyd Mayweather. The problem for ODH though is that it will be absent again in the rematch because you simply cannot land a jab against Floyd....it simply NEVER happens.

Last time, you may recall in the post-fight interview, Oscar saying, "I don't know why I didn't throw the jab more. I just didn't feel it so I didn't throw it" well there was a reason for that - Floyd's Defense wont allow it. Forbes, for the most part, will sit right in front of you, so it's easy to hit him with the jab. Mayweather on the other hand is the exact opposite - he's too quick, too mobile and too defensive too get hit with a semi-slow jab. In the rematch, I promise ODH doesn't land a consistent Jab and every time he does he will be open for a quick counter.

Witter: "Hatton's Fight and Title is a Joke

By Mark Vester

WBC junior welterweight champ Junior Witter tells the Sunday Mirror that Ricky Hatton's upcoming "title defense" on May 24 against Juan Lazcano in Manchester is a "total joke." Witter said that he was negotiating with Hatton to fight him in May, but it was his UK rival that backed off from the table. Witter defends his title against undefeated Timothy Bradley on May 10 in Nottingham.

"It's a joke - the British fight public are being denied the mega-fight they want," Witter said. "Ricky has been ignoring my calls for a fight for a long time - I wasn't surprised when the latest negotiations collapsed. A fight between me and Ricky would be the biggest British fight in history, but I believe he is scared of losing in front of all his fans."

Witter claims there was a deal in principle that both sides agreed upon for a May fight.

"There was a very real chance of me being in the ring on that night, and not Lazcano," said Witter. "There was agreement in principle, and I again had my hopes up, but then the goalposts were moved. I believe that Ricky is letting down his fans by ignoring me. Ricky has been banging on about how great his fans are and how much he loves them - but I know that the fight they all want to see is Ricky against me.

"I have heard Ricky say repeatedly that he hates my guts - or words to that effect - and if that's the way he feels I'm amazed that he is not chasing me for a fight. I'm a professional boxer and for me it's about respect and honor, and it has nothing to do with it being personal."

Witter feels his exposure with the Bradley bout being televised on ITV1 and Showtime will assist him with putting pressure on Hatton for the fight.

"Ricky has some future plans but I am confident that his American broadcaster HBO will ask him to fight me," said Witter. "Look at our next fights - I'm in with a young unbeaten American, and he's sharing the ring with a 33-year-old Mexican, who has not fought since February 2007."

"I'm defending the WBC belt, the world's most prestigious title, and he's got something called the IBO belt. It's a total joke and yet he still keeps telling people that I don't deserve a fight with him. I'm a fighter - but Ricky is just acting like a businessman

Kermit Cintron: "Margarito Will Stop Cotto"

By Mark Vester

Former welterweight champion Kermit Cintron is going against his countryman on July 26. Rather than go with his Puerto Rican countryman, Miguel Cotto, Cintron is picking Antonio Margarito to win by knockout.

“Do I want Cotto to win?” Cintron told The Reading Eagle. “Yes, he’s from the same country that I’m from. But a fighter like Margarito, he took every shot that I threw at him. Cotto is going to have a hard time in there with him. I think Margarito will stop Cotto.”

Margarito handed Cintron the only two losses of his career - both by knockout. The last defeat was on April 12, when Margarito stopped Cintron with a bodyshot in the sixth-round to capture the IBF welterweight title. Cintron wants to return in September after a minor operation to fix a torn ligament in his right hand.

“I’ll be in the gym training even harder than I did before,” Cintron said. “Plus, I still have the motivation. I have my wife Maria, (daughters) Denali and Savannah, and a son on the way. That’s a lot of motivation right there. I’ll definitely be back.”

Floyd Sr. Thinks Oscar Can Beat Trinidad

By Mark Vester

According to Oscar De La Hoya, his trainer, Floyd Mayweather Sr, told him that regardless of the weight difference, he would win the rematch with Felix Trinidad. Following his loss to Trinidad in 1999, De La Hoya was trying to land a rematch. A lot of ringside observers felt De La Hoya should have been awarded the decision and the Golden Boy was very bitter over the loss. He tells Kieran Mulvaney that he let go of his pursuit for a Trinidad rematch a long time ago.

"I let go of that a long time ago. I couldn't care less. To me, it's no big deal. In my heart, I felt I won. Would a rematch be nice to have? Absolutely," De La Hoya said.

De La Hoya says the difference in weight makes the fight a tough one to make. Last week, Trinidad, who last fought at 170, said that he was willing to go as low as 165-pounds to fight De La Hoya. The Golden Boy is trying to make his way back to 147-pounds, and fights Steve Forbes at the catch-weight of 150, the first time in seven-years that De La Hoya will fight below the junior middleweight limit of 154.

He will leave it up to his trainer, Floyd Sr, who told him the weight difference will not impact the result.

"The fact that he's fighting at 170 and I'm back at 147 makes it difficult. But I'm going to leave it up to my trainer, Floyd Mayweather. He tells me: 'Don't worry about the weight. You can fight Trinidad, no problem. You can weigh in at 150, he can weigh in at 180 if he wants to.' So whatever he says. This year is going back to the roots. I'm the fighter this year. I'm the fighter," De La Hoya said

Firat Arslan Clearly Out-Points Darnell Wilson - Wins UD in Germany

by James Slater: Last night, in Stuttgart, Germany, defending WBA cruiserweight champion Firat Arslan successfully defended his world title for the very first time as he captured a wide and clear unanimous points win over the dangerous Darnell "Ding-a-ling" Wilson. All three judges scored the fight the same way - 117-111, all for local man Arslan..

The fact that he got this title shot came as something of a surprise for Wilson, having lost his previous fight - also on points, to B.J Flores. "The Ding-a-ling Man" was determined to take full advantage of his opportunity. And while he tried his hardest, the 33 year old Wilson was unable to detonate one of his bombs on the older man's chin. The opening round was a close affair, as were maybe one or two more rounds, but aside from that the champion pretty much had things his own way.

Wilson was always a threat, however, and southpaw Arslan had to be on top of his game - which he was. The fight was never dull, despite the one-sided nature of the judges' cards. For though it was a one horse race in terms of quality punches landed, Wilson's power made sure no-one watching could take anything for granted. This is not to suggest the champion fought a defensive fight, far from it. It was the 37 year old who was the aggressor most of the time, and this made the action flow nicely.

Certainly, for a 37 year old, Arslan, who won his belt by defeating another veteran in Virgil Hill last November, is a very capable and good fighter. Showing he can both out-box and out-fight his opponents, Arslan is a champion who will take some beating. The 50,00-plus fans in attendance - most of whom were fans of the defending champion, of course - enjoyed last night's bout. Though there was nothing close to either a stoppage or even a knockdown scored by either fighter, the action was exciting enough.

With his win, his first retention of his WBA strap, Arslan improved his record to 29-3-1(18). Wilson, who lost his second straight fight, fell to 23-7-3(20). It will be very interesting to see where Darnell goes from here. Things don't look that great for him, but Wilson is a fighter who once lost four bouts in a row - only to bounce back and fight for the world title. In short, though he lost widely last night, "The Ding-a-ling Man" is not a guy to write off
