It's funny how people want to act like Mayweather didn't beat the dog shit out of Hatton and took his soul in that fight. Mayweather made this man depressed and a drunk.
Uh he fought like 4 more times after the mayweather fight and pacquiao KOing him is what literally put him into retirement. (His last fight). After the mayweather fight ricky knocked out Paulie Malignaggi and was not a bum at all.....

In other words, get off floyds cock, the fall of ricky hatton was caused by ricky hatton and he retired after being knocked out by manny

Bute could be facing Pavlik next

By Eric Thomas: According to the latest boxing news, IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (28-0, 23 KO’s) could be facing former WBC/WBO middleweight champion Kelly Pavlik (36-2, 32 KO’s) next instead of Mikkel Kessler. Jean Bedard, the president of Interbox, says that Bute-Pavlik is also a possibility as well as the Bute-Kessler fight. It’s hard to imagine that Bob Arum, the promoter for Pavlik, would allow Pavlik to fight a hit and run fighter like Bute though.

This is the kind of opponent that Pavlik has historically had problems with. Pavlik has lost to Bernard Hopkins and Sergio Martinez, both of which used a lot of movement to win rounds and beat Pavlik. Bute is the same kind of fighter. However, Bute doesn’t much of a jab to speak of and is in love with his left uppercut.

Bute would take a lot of punishment from Pavlik on the outside due to Pavlik’s much superior jab, and Bute would have problems with Pavlik if he narrowly focuses on throwing uppercuts all night long. Bute can beat lesser fighters with an uppercut like the ones he’s had served up to him in the past three years, but Pavlik is a world class fighter and that kind of limited gimmick won’t work. Bute will need more weapons to beat a guy like Pavlik. I would like to see this fight happen, but I can see either Bute’s management or Pavlik’s saying no to this fight.

Pavlik has a tune-up bout coming up on May 7th against Alfonzo Lopez (21-0, 16 KO’s) on the undercard of the Manny Pacquiao vs. Shane Mosley bout at the MGM Grand, in Las Vegas, Nevada. The win for Pavlik is a forgone conclusion, as Lopez is just someone with an inflated record being brought in for Pavlik to beat up and sharpen his skills while at the same time give the appearance that Pavlik isn’t facing a soft guy.

Solis earns $1.8 million, Vitali $15 million for one-round of action

By Dan Ambrose: Previously unbeaten heavyweight contender Odlanier Solis (17-1, 12 KO’s) reportedly earned a respectable $1.8 million for his 1st round knockout loss to WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko (42-2, 39 KO’s) last Saturday night in Cologne, Germany. For his part, Vitali earned a minimum of $15 million. The fight, which took place at the Lanxess Arena in Cologne, had over 19,000 fans in attendance, many of which were deeply upset at how the fight ended with Solis collapsing on the canvas with a right knee injury after taking a short right hand from Vitali.

Solis bravely attempted to get up and resume fighting but he quickly discovered that his right leg couldn’t support his weight and needed to lean on the ring ropes for support to stay up right. It’s hard to say who was more upset – Solis or Vitali, because neither of them were happy with the way the fight ended. Vitali wanted to show off his skills and prove that he was the better fighter. He didn’t really make a case that he was the better fighter despite getting the knockout win. Solis clearly got the better of Klitschko for most of the fight and seemed to have Vitali figured out. Vitali looked tentative and unsure how to land his right hand power shots in the fight. Vitali was limited to throwing only jabs and it didn’t look impressive.

If Solis’ right knee heals up, we could have a future heavyweight champion in star in the making. The Klitschkos will be retiring eventually and WBA heavyweight champion David Haye will be retiring at the end of the year. Solis will likely be a champion very soon as long as his right knee is operated on and heals correctly

McGrit gave Hatton that KO against Paulie. That was the entire dispute, that Paulie has a KO on his record now...for nothing.

Anyways, Nonito finally makes it big and the first thing he gets is a lawsuit. I don't like where this is going...

Saul Alvarez vs. Ricardo Mayorga rumored to be in the works for June

By Sean McDaniel: A potential fight between WBC junior middleweight champion Saul Alvarez (36-0-1, 26 KO’s) and two-time former world champion Ricardo Mayorga (29-8-1, 23 KO’s) is rumored to be taking place in June. Mayorga, 38, was recently stopped in the 12th round by WBA junior middleweight champion Miguel Cotto in his last fight on March 12th. After the bout, Mayorga spoke of retirement and wanting to look for new profession.

However, Mayorga soon after made an about face, saying he’s been offered two easy fights in his home country of Nicaragua and one tough fight. The easy fights were supposed to come first before the difficult fight. If Mayorga ends up fighting the 20-year-old Alvarez, you would have to consider this a really tough fight because Alvarez is a lot younger and punches very hard. The timing for such a difficult fight like this is not good for Mayorga because he’s coming off a knockout loss and an injury to his left hand. But who knows?

If the money is good, which it probably would be because it almost definitely be an HBO fight, Mayorga could find this too hard to resist taking this fight. It was thought that Alvarez would defend his new captured WBC title by facing one of his top contenders like Ryan Rhodes. But if this rumor of Mayorga is true, it looks like Rhodes is going to have to wait a while before he gets a shot at Alvarez. In his last fight, Alvarez won a lopsided 12 round unanimous decision over Matthew Hatton on March 5th. Alvarez looked powerful in that fight, but very vulnerable as well due to his lack of head movement and defensive skills. Mayorga might be trouble for Alvarez because Mayorga wouldn’t have to go looking for him like he did in his loss to Cotto.

Wladimir’s abdominal injury still hasn’t healed, Haye could be facing Vitali next

By Jason Kim: WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) might not like the news that IBF/WBO heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko’s injured abdominal tear, which has been plaguing him since December, still hasn’t healed enough for him to fight. Haye, 30, is hoping to fight Wladimir in June or likely July.

However, with the injury slow in healing and a good possibility that it won’t have healed by then, it’s looking like Haye will have to instead face Vitali Klitschko. This isn’t the opponent that Haye has been dreaming of, because he’s wanted to fight Wladimir for a long time because he sees him as vulnerable, someone he can beat.

Haye and his manager/trainer Adam Booth has to know which Klitschko brother they’re going to be facing by May, according to the guardian.co.uk. This doesn’t give much time for Wladimir’s injury to heal. It might be in his best interest to back out now and just let Vitali take the fight and not risk aggravating the abdominal tear anymore than Wladimir already has. He can then move ahead and get rested for the bout against Tomasz Adamek in September. The contract with Haye states that either of the Klitschkos can fight him. However, Booth and Haye need to known by May so they can plan on a good strategy for the fight because the brother’s have a different fighting style.

The Haye-Klitschko bout will take place in Germany in one of three large soccer stadiums – Dusseldorf (51,000 seating capacity), Gelsenkirchen 09 61,000 capacity) and Dortmund (80,000 seats). A Haye-Klitschko fight will likely sell out any of the stadiums they put it in. This is going to be a huge fight.

Andy Lee interested in a rematch with Bryan Vera

By Dan Ambrose: If middleweight contender Andy Lee (15-1, 19 KO’s) can’t get a title shot against one of the middleweight champion in his next fight, Lee says he’d be interested in avenging his 7th round knockout loss to slugger Bryan Vera (18-5, 11 KO’s) from March 2008. Lee was batted around by Vera in that fight and looked awful. Lee has rebounded from that defeat and won his last 10 fights. Mosley recently, Lee defeated previously unbeaten middleweight contender Craig McEwan by a 10 round TKO on March 12th.

Lee looked dreadful against McEwan, and was badly hurt early in the fight by some big shots from the light hitting McEwan. Lee lost most of the first six rounds and only found success after McEwan ran out of gas in the second half of the fight. Lee then came on and took out McEwan in the 10th.

In an interview at eastsideboxing.com, Lee said “If I can’t get a title fight in my next fight, then I would like nothing more than to fight Bryan Vera.”

Lee isn’t going to get a title shot and he clearly doesn’t look ready for a shot judging by his poor performance against McEwan. However, I don’t think Lee would do well at all against Vera. He hits too hard and is just too tough for the slender Lee. Vera wore Lee down last time they fought and was punching Lee at will in the 6th and 7th rounds. I can’t see how anything would really chance in a rematch. Lee is just too hittable and stands straight up. His head is like a beacon for punches.

Marquez-Pacquiao III a strong possibility for November if Marquez signs with Top Rank

By Dan Ambrose: The contract between WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez and Golden Boy Promotions is reportedly expiring today, and unless Golden Boy can resign Marquez, which doesn’t seem likely, Marquez will move on towards a November fight with Manny Pacquiao. However, before that fight can happen, Marquez will almost surely sign with Top Rank, the same promoters as Pacquiao, and we’ll be looking at an in house fight between Marquez and Pacquiao.

The decision for the Marquez-Pacquiao III bout ultimately resides with Pacquiao. If he doesn’t want the fight, then Marquez will have to settle for fights against Arum’s other stars like perhaps Juan Manuel Lopez and maybe a future fight with WBC/WBO light welterweight champion Timothy Bradley if he gets by Amir Khan in July.

In an article by Michael Marley at examiner.com, Arum said “I will take it up with Pacquiao [about whether he's interested in fighting Marquez a third time or not]. I wouldn’t do anything along those lines without speaking to Manny first. I would want to hear what Manny has to say, what he thinks about it.”

It wouldn’t be surprising if Pacquiao wasn’t interested in fighting Marquez a third time because Pacquiao had huge problems in his two prior fights with Marquez in 2004 and 2008. The first fight was a 12 round draw and the second one saw Pacquiao win a controversial 12 round split decision. Pacquiao lost most of the rounds in both fights but made up for it by scoring knockdowns. Marquez seems to have Pacquiao’s number with his counter punching ability. However, Marquez, like Shane Mosley, may be old enough now for Pacquiao to conclusively beat him.

Haye-Klitschko to bring in $70 million, but still no venue

By William Mackay: The unification bout between WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO’s) and one of the Klitschko brothers is going to be one of the hugest boxing events ever with a possible $70 million at stake for this fight. However, the bout still doesn’t have a venue because of the number of potential hosts. Currently, the number of hosts are as follows: Germany, Switzerland, Monaco, South Africa.

It’s seems like an insane idea to put it anywhere other than Germany or the UK, however, because you’re going to be asking boxing fans to travel far to see this fight and it could hurt the attendance. When the smoke clears, the fight will almost surely take place in Germany in one of three huge soccer stadiums. The fight won’t be taking place in the UK, though, because the Klitschkos don’t want to fight there and you can’t blame them. The British fans are incredibly loud compared to the Germans and it would be tough for either of the Klitschkos to fight in that kind of environment with all the noise.

Adam Booth, the trainer/manager for Haye, believes that the venue for the fight will soon be known by April. He sees the fight taking place in Europe in an indoor arena to avoid rain.

The one concern is whether Wladimir will be ready for the fight by June or July. His manager Bernd Boente believes Wladimir’s nagging abdominal injury will be healed by the time the fight goes ahead in the summer. However, if it doesn’t heal up, Vitali will be the one that ends up facing Haye. It really doesn’t matter which Klitschko fights Haye, because he’s going to be giving away a lot of size and experience and will likely be way over his head no matter which one he faces. Haye has done well against the older heavyweights he’s been exclusively matched against but he looks too small and flawed to beat the Klitschkos.

Kessler doesn’t mind fighting Bute in Canada

By Dan Ambrose: Photo credit Tom Casino/Showtime – Former super middleweight champion Mikkel Kessler (43-2, 32 KO’s) doesn’t care if he has to travel to Canada to fight IBF super middleweight champion Lucian Bute (28-3, 23 KO’s) in his own how town in order to get a fight against him. Kessler, 32, just wants a fight with Bute, and has spotted areas of vulnerability that he feels that he can exploit in the ring when/if they fight.

Kessler had this to say about Bute last Saturday night while watching him beat a badly over-matched Brian Magee in Montreal: “Bute can have his hometown. I’ll kick his ass anywhere.”

Kessler might want to re-think that if he were to have seen Bute’s fight with Librado Andrade in 2008. That fight took place in Canada and Bute appeared to be knocked out in the 12th after being flattened by a series of hard right hands from Andrade. However, the referee allowed Bute a lot of time to get up from the knockdown because of the referee’s focus on telling Andrade to go back to the neutral corner. It was like watching a replay of the long count between Jack Dempsey and Gene Tunney. Kessler previously dominated Andrade, beating him by a one-sided 12 round in March 2007.

You can make an argument that Kessler isn’t quite the same fighter he was back then, but he’s close enough to give Bute all he can handle. Bute is going to have to come up with a better game plan than to hit and run, and throw uppercuts. It takes more than that to beat Kessler because he applies a lot of pressure and has good power. Bute’s chin is going to be tested in this one.

Sure we believe what Arum has to say. The same Arum that stated Manny agreed to random drug testing without a cut-off date which was found out to be a lie. Mayweather is with Golden Boy so please tell how King is negotiating for him. LOL I smell the same old BS there was no negotiation.

form what I read don king confirming what arum said.

206-I'm telling you Haye is going to fight Vitali.
you know what? I think you're right. I read something yesterday that said Wlad is still "hurt" and may take longer to recover then expected. Which of course would mean Vitali would fight haye. lmao

Has anything like that EVER existed in boxing? Where you sign a contract not to fight one fighter but the family? lol. Sure sign the contract and you can fight A klitschko on July 2nd. We're not telling you which one though! lol

Imagine Bobby Pacquiao signs to fight some lower level guy. The contract states: you agree to fight pacquiao on this date. Then Manny shows up instead lol. WTF

I have been trying to tell people that Haye was not ducking the K brothers, they just have been playing with the contracts.

Until I hear something from Mayweather himself I don't believe or really care about any fight talks about him. But like Heyzel said Arum and King will probably make the Manny vs Mayweather fight.

Kessler is going to beat up Bute.

you think kessler has enough left?

Bute has an awesome offensive arsenal, but I still believe his chin is weak and I want to see him pushed in the late rounds again, can he survive like he barely did against Andrade?

He maybe able to get past kessler, but Ward would whoop his ass and even Froch.

I just think Bute has fought a lot of bums, plus he got hurt a few times by dude on Saturday. I think Kessler is past his prime, but I think he will beat Bute and he might even stop him late.

Wladamir’s injury re-occur to prevent him fighting David Haye

By Craig Macguinness: Revelations were made public that there is a clause in the Klitschko Haye contract which stipulates Haye must fight Vitali if Wladamir’s abdominal injury re occurs, this has heightened suspicions that Wladamir is looking for a way out, and that the klitchko management feel Vitali has a better chance of winning against Haye.

Klitschko’s management were not interested in making the fight without this clause and i believe we will see the injury re occur, which will be the 3rd time in less than 6 months. Wladamir has a weak chin and is suceptable to speed and power of which Haye has plenty. Judging by last weekend’s bout, involving Vitali and Olandier Solis, Haye will need much more than just speed and power to dethrone Vitali. Vitali has never been hurt by any fighter and maybe slowing with age but his power is un questionable. Haye heavily relies on his power to K.O fighters and Vitali seems impervious to any kind of knockout shots.

This said, haye has the speed to make this fight too close to call. Wladamir’s reaction to questions asked surrounding the Haye fight was very sheepish at best. “ Haye thinks I am the younger weaker one so I am next” there is much to be analyzed into his response, perhaps Wladamir and Vitali know something David Haye doesn’t, and that Haye will be in fact fighting Vitali we will see. If that is the case it surely only gives further evidence to support Wladamir’s frailty in the division and Vitali’s apparent superiority.
