Roger Mayweather: Pacquiao Will Get His Ass Whooped

By Mark Vester

The hype continues for the biggest fight in boxing, Floyd Mayweather Jr. vs. Manny Pacquiao. The Mayweather clan is getting a bit angry. A every turn they get asked about Pacquiao. Mayweather returns on July 18 against Juan Manuel Marquez. Pacquiao will likely wait until then to choose his next opponent. Most insiders see a Pacquiao-Mayweather bout taking place, but others believe the fight won't happen because the two sides will never agree on the split of the money. Both are looking for at least 60-40 in their favor.

During a recent interview with AOL Fanhouse, Floyd's trainer and uncle, Roger Mayweather, became enraged at the sheer mention of Pacquiao's name and said the Filipino fighter is going to "get his ass beat."

"Forget Pacquiao. He's going to get his ass whooped. You don't worry about that. Don't ask me about Pacquiao. You ask me for an interview. I'm not worried about Pacquiao. Pacquiao is going to get what he go coming [to him]," Roger said.

David Haye May Try For Vitali Klitschko For September

By Mark Vester

Adam Booth, manager of David Haye, says a September fight with WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko is a possible move for them. After suffering a back injury, Haye withdrew from his June 20 bout with WBO/IBF champ Wladimir Klitschko. Instead, Wladimir will now face Ruslan Chagaev. Vitali has to deal with his mandatory issue with Oleg Maskaev, scheduled for arbitration in the next few days. The WBC wants him to fight Maskaev, but Vitali just made a mandatory defense in March against Juan Carlos Gomez.

"We’ve spoken about Vitali in September," Booth told the Daily Star Sunday. "Fighting Vitali is just something that was thrown up with a few other things, but we’ve not directly talked to them about it. It was passed on to me by someone else. It has always been about the Klitschkos and the interest of David against a Klitschko is now greater than ever."

The Haye camp may be shooting for the stars. If Vitali wins his case with the WBC, the fight he is likely to take is against number-one ranked Chris Arreola. There will be less headaches involved with making that fight and he doesn't have to wait until September to do it. Wladimir on the other hand has a September mandatory with IBF champ Alexander Povetkin and then he may be forced to make his WBO mandatory against the winner of Dimitrenko-Chambers in January.

Haye may have to get his title shot the old fashioned way - by climbing the ladder like everyone else. One major sticking point with Haye getting a shot at either Klitschko is the lack of heavyweight credentials. Most fighters who are moving up, whether it be Michael Moorer or Evander Holyfield, had to work for their titles shots. Michael Spinks, his credentials far outweight those of Haye. Someone may bring up Roy Jones Jr. but he fought John Ruiz, who many viewed as the weakest of the heavyweight champions at that time. Haye is not shooting for the weakest, he wants the biggest money fights in the entire division. He did stop Monte Barrett in five and some see that as a big accomplishment. Those same people must have forgotten that Barrett was stopped in two rounds by journeyman Cliff Couser only a fights earlier.

But Haye does bring excitement and if he really thinks he's as good as he says, then he should fight any heavyweight to stay active and not stall his career by waiting around to land a Klitschko

Margarito Eyes Return, Wants Mosley, Cotto, Pacquiao

By Mark Vester

Former three-time welterweight champion Antonio Margarito is not going into details but says that he plans to return to the ring in September. Margarito had his license revoked in February by the California State Athletic Commission during a hearing to rule on whether he attempted to cheat prior to the January 24 bout with Shane Mosley. Two hard inserts were found in Margarito's handwraps. An illegal hard substance was discovered on the inserts. They were later tested and found to contain elements that would make plaster of Paris. Margarito has mantained that he was innocent of the charges and the inserts were placed in his wraps withouth his knowledge - by former trainer Javier Capetillo.

Margarito is currently involved in a legal battle with the CSAC, trying to reclaim his license. He is confident that his license will be returned by the CSAC.

"I haven't stopped training because I think I'll get my license back this month from the California State Athletic Commission. My lawyers are working on that. I did not commit any [illegal] acts in the dressing (before my fight against Shane Mosley) and of course that I'm staying very quiet on the situation," Margarito said to ESTO. "I will return in September. Next week my promoters will tell me who my opponent will be. I want to fight a ten rounder and then compete for a world title."

He doesn't care who the opponent is, but he wants a big opponent next, like Miguel Cotto, Shane Mosley or Manny Pacquiao.

"I have no preference, but I want a rematch with Mosley, with Cotto, or to fight with Manny Pacquiao because Mexico wants a Mexican to beat him and Antonio Margarito is here," Margarito said

Crushing blow: Guzman's mother loses brain cancer fight

Joan Guzman, undefeated two-time world boxing champion, saw this pulverizing punch coming.

But, like any loving son or daughter with a terminally ill mother, he could not use his lightning fast feet or hands or to defend against it.

The Dominican Dandy flew from New York to his native Santo Domingo Saturday after learning of the death of his beloved mother, Juana Amaro.

She raised Guzman and her other children in the toughest, mort brutal barrio of the Dominican capital, Guachapita.

It was there that young Guzman first tried boxing using newspapers as makeshift gloves.

Guzman’s mother, said to be in her late 40s, had been suffering from a brain tumor. She experienced long and continual pain and, as I extend my deep condolences, to Guzman and his family, hopefully there is some solace in the fact that her physical ordeal has ended.

The announcement of the fighter’s mother death came from his manager, Jose Nunez.

“This was tough all the way,” Nunzez said. “His Mom went through a lot in the hospital. Joan found out about her brain cancer when he was training for the Nate Campbell fight. Now he and his family will give their mother a proper burial.”

Guzman has not fought since last December.

Lightweight contender and ex-champion Juan “Baby Bull” Diaz recently rejected a bout against Guzman and will soon fight Paulie Malignaggi.

Haye's Manager Agrees With Klitschko's Decision

By Mark Vester

Adam Booth, manager of David Haye, agrees with Wladimir Klitschko's decision to go forward with his June 20th date with undefeated Ruslan Chagaev. Klitschko was set to defend his WBO/IBF titles against Haye on that date but Haye withdrew last Wednesday with a back injury. Haye was ready to fight Klitschko by July 25, but the champion, inactive for six months, was not willing to wait any longer and made a deal with Chagaev. Booth is not upset with Klitschko's decision. He says the same decision would have been made if Haye was in the same situation.

"We would have been able to box in five weeks which would’ve delayed [the Klitschko fight] until July 25 – we understand totally the decision Wladimir has taken. If the shoe was on the other foot we would’ve done exactly the same thing. Hopefully Wladimir looks good, he wins [against Chagaev] and that at some point we can get this on," Booth said.

Haye would like to fight by the end of July but admits that it likely won't happen. Haye might have to wait until September because there are no open dates on the cable networks in July or August.

"I will be back in full training in two weeks' time and ready to fight by 25 July," said Haye. "But commercially no TV company will want to show a fight then or in August so it's likely to be September. If it could be against one of the Klitschkos that would be great. They've offered me a voluntary challenge before and if they'd like to do so again for September then I'd be more than willing

David Haye: "I Want Vitali Klitschko in July"

By Mark Vester

Heavyweight contender David Haye has spoken for the first time since the news broke a week ago of his back injury that forced him to withdraw from a June 20th clash with IBF/WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko. Haye says that he will be ready and fully recovered from his injury to take a fight with WBC champion Vitali Klitschko in July, if Vitali is able to get permission for a voluntary defense from the WBC. Haye says he suffered the back injury while he was shadow boxing last Tuesday.

"I want to fight the biggest and the best and whoever is the biggest, the best and available I will fight," said Haye to Sportinglife. "It is all about me becoming heavyweight champion of the world as soon as possible. I know a fight between me and anybody is massive. I am more than happy to fight them (the Klitschko brothers). They know that. I agreed to fight Vitali first and it swapped over to Wladimir. If he would like to give me a voluntary then I would like to let him know I am ready from July."

Haye would also like to reschedule his fight with Wladimir. He hopes that Wlad is able to get past Ruslan Chagaev next Saturday, and then face him down the road.

"The fight was going to have the biggest indoor crowd in history and that was because people wanted to see Wladimir Klitschko defend against David Haye," said Haye. "If it was to be the biggest fight in the world in two weeks I am sure it will be the biggest in the world a few weeks down the line. It was a fight the world wanted to see. Hopefully Wladimir looks good (against Chagaev) and we can keep the ball rolling."

Manager Adam Booth still boasts that Haye is Wladimir worst nightmare.

"I can say that from everything I saw in the gym, leading up to the injury last week, convinced me even more that David Haye is Wladimir Klitschko's worst nightmare," said Booth. We just hope Wladimir wants the fight when he is free to take it."

Pacquiao Opponent Hunt To Get Serious After June 13

By Mark Vester

Everyone wants a shot at Manny Pacquiao but promoter Bob Arum of Top Rank told the The Philippine Star - that nobody will be in the running until after this weekend. Arum says the process of selecting Manny's next opponent will begin to heat up after June 13, the day Miguel Cotto faces Joshua Clottey at New York's Madison Square Garden. Pacquiao will be sitting at ringside.

“It will all depend on Manny. It depends on what he wants,” said Arum. “After June 13, we will get to it seriously. I won’t come up with any name until after June 13."

As far as the venue, Arum is almost sure Pacquiao's next fight will land at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Top Rank has received offers to host Pacquiao's next fight from venues all over the world.

“I’m pretty sure it will be MGM," Arum said. “It’s a good place because of all the casinos there

David Haye Holds UK Press Conference In London - Tells Those Gathered He Is "Gutted"

by James Slater -- Earlier today in London, David Haye held a press conference to speak with members of the media about his regrets regarding his big fight with Wladimir Klitschko being called off due to his suffering a back injury. Haye also spoke about his new hopes for the future. Making his first public appearance since the June 20th fight was sensationally called off last Wednesday, Haye answered some of the questions the boxing writers and fans have been asking since last week..

Appearing with trainer/manager Adam Booth, Haye looked forlorn as he spoke about what happened to his big opportunity.

"This fight in a couple of weeks would have been the pinnacle, everything I have strived for since I was a child," Haye said. "I could not be any more gutted. My whole boxing career, amateur and professional, was leading up to this one night and now it's not happening.

"I was just doing some normal training that I always do, I was shadow boxing, and my back completely went (last Tuesday evening). I am just so distraught about it. The way my back was, I wouldn't have been able to have beaten any single opponent of my entire career - amateur or pro."

Haye added that he will be ready to fight by the end of July and that he can't wait to get back into training once his back is fully fit.

Haye made it clear he still very much wants to face either of the two Klitschko brothers, and that he is desperate to fulfil his lifelong dream of becoming heavyweight champion of the world.

"I want to fight the biggest and the best and whoever is the biggest, the best and available, I will fight," Haye continued. "It's all about me becoming heavyweight champion of the world as soon as possible. I know a fight between me and anybody is massive. I am more than happy to fight them [the Klitschkos]. They know that.

"I agreed to fight Vitali first and then it swapped over to Wladimir. If he [Vitali] would like to give me a voluntary then I would like to let him know I am ready from July."

Haye said that as a fight between he and Wladimir was going to be so big on June 20th, it would still be a huge fight further down the road.

"The fight was going to have the biggest outdoor crowd in history and that was because people wanted to see Wladimir Klitschko defend against David Haye," he said. "If it was going to be the biggest fight in the world in two weeks I am sure it will [still] be the biggest in the world a few weeks down the line. It was a fight the world wanted to see.

"Hopefully Wladimir looks good [against Ruslan Chagaev] and we can keep the ball rolling."

It is now very much up to Wladimir and Vitali as to whether or not Haye gets the big fight he still very much wants. But with the IBF and WBO king busy - against Chagaev first and then likely Alexander Povetkin after that - it looks more and more as though Haye's best hope lies with a voluntary shot given to him by the reigning WBC champion.

Adam Booth made it clear he is still sure his man is Wladimir Klitschko's "worst nightmare." But will we ever get the chance to see if he is right?

Floyd Sr: "Mayweather Batters Marquez Like Gatti"

By Mark Vester

Trainer Floyd Mayweather Sr. views the July 18 showdown between his son Floyd Mayweather Jr, and WBA/WBO lightweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez, as a one-sided mismatch. He compares the fight to his son's one-sided beatdown of Arturo Gatti from 2005. Mayweather pounded Gatti for six rounds before the fight was stopped. He says the fight is so one-sided that he can't believe HBO placed it on pay-per-view. Marquez moves up be nearly two weight divisions to meet Mayweather at and agreed-upon weight of 144-pounds.

“The Marquez fight is going to be nothing more than what you have seen before. Do you remember the Arturo Gatti fight? Well then if you can remember the Gatti fight, you’ve already seen the Marquez fight in advance. It is going to be the same thing all over again," Floyd Sr told John Martinez of DogHouseBoxing.com.

"They should not be telling the public to pay up extra money for this fight. It should be on regular HBO instead of PPV. There is a bad economy out there and we all know what is going to happen already.”

He says Marquez is going to make the fight and get caught by the counter-punching ability of Floyd Jr.

“Marquez is a Mexican. He doesn’t want to look bad. He is going to come forward and make the fight. Mexicans always come to fight. But when he does, he is going to get clipped. He isn’t going to counter punch. Trust me. This is a tune up fight for my son,” Floyd Sr said.

Finally Sr speaks the truth.

Marquez is a great fighter, no doubt. He's actually become one of my favorite fighters, but this is a really tough fight for him.

Floyd is faster, stronger, and just as smart as he is. Plus his body is accustomed to the extra weight, as he's been fighting closer to this weight for years.

Even with the layoff, I think its a tune up fight for Floyd.

David Haye: “I Need To Beat Both Klitschkos For Legacy”

By Mark Vester

Heavyweight contender David Haye is still eating, sleeping and breathing the Klitschko brothers. Due to a back injury, he withdrew last Wednesday from his June 20th bout with IBF/WBO champion Wladimir Klitschko. He hopes to fight Wladimir or older brother Vitali Klitschko, the WBC champion, in the near future. He ordered manager Adam Booth to head out there to make the biggest fight possible.

“I'm here to become the heavyweight champion of the world. To do that I have to go after one of the two brothers. All I can physically do myself is to get my back better and to get back into full training. And Adam Booth will go out there and do what he needs to do to make sure my next fight is a super fight and he will do whatever he has to do get my a fight with Wladimir or Vitali. The Klitschkos want it to happen. I want it to happen. It will happen,” Haye said.

After the withdrawal, Haye actually apologized to Wladimir for not being able to go forward with their fight. He says the apology will not make any nicer to the Klitschko brothers. He still plans to sport the infamous t-shirt that has him holding the bloody decapitated heads of the Klitschkos. In order to reach his goal of cementing his legacy, Haye says that he needs to beat both brothers.

“It caused some headlines but that was my sole intent, to go over there and rip his head off. That was all in my mind. You saw the way I was training aggressively. My whole mindset was going out there and attacking this fella. I'm not going to start doing pics of me bringing roses and holding hands. That's not going to happen. I had both of their heads on that picture. That is the plans to beat both of the Klitschko brothers. I'm going to go out there to beat both of the Klitschko brothers. I need to beat both of the brothers to cement my legacy,” Haye said.

Haye please shut the fuck up, im already tired of this dude lol
I agree. Haye hasn't done anything at heavyweight to warrant all his ridiculous shit talk. Beating Monte Barrett doesn't make you the best heavyweight to talk on earth. I wish he wouldn't have gotten injured so Wlad could have knocked him silly or at the very least he could back up all the shit he was talking.

Haye wouldn't even beat the fighter that's replacing him.
