It's not that Canelo doesn't want to fight GGG, but GGG definitely doesn't deserve a 50/50 split for a title shot.
No idea where you get this 50/50 split from. It was never going to be 50/50, the vast majority of the split would have and will go to Canelo. That was never an issue. The issue was Canelo didn't want to fight Golovkin next. The other issue is Canelo wants to fight at a made up weight class of 155 pounds despite being the middleweight champion of the world.

Well if it does end up going to a purse bid it will be a 50/50 split unless they come to terms before/after the purse bid. I'm sure any negotiations will have Canelo taking the lion's share of the money.

Right but that's not what k2 is trying to do. They know negotiating a deal is the only way to get a fight otherwise they would have enforced the mandatory and forced a purse bid. They've been extremely cool with Canelo giving him some more time. All they want is the fight or the belt and certainly don't mind taking the smaller split.

I think that's what they're going to have to do unfortunately. I don't get why they don't play it like Abraham's camp did with Ramirez. They won the purse bid and then with control of the fight in their pocket they negotiated a deal with TR to host the fight on the Pac/Bradley undercard.

I never thought I'd see the day when "fans" of the sport are rooting for fights to not be made. Ridiculous.

I think K2/GGG have been trying to avoid that, they were cool with Cotto and didn't stand in his way of making a fight that everyone wanted to see and again they've been cool with Canelo giving him some more time since he just won the belt but yeah, eventually there comes a point where they can't do that anymore and they put their foot down which surely would be the case after each finish with their fights. Basically they didn't want to burn any bridges

Anthony Joshua next fight – rejects Chisora, who gets Pulev

Dereck Chisora to meet Kubrat Pulev but will not be involved in Anthony Joshua next fight, as the EBU confirm ‘AJ’ has not accepted their title match

ANTHONY JOSHUA next fight on April 9 will not be against Dereck Chisora – although the pair may well meet in future – after the unbeaten British and Commonwealth heavyweight champion turned down the chance to meet the former world title challenger for the vacant European title. After Robert Helenius relinquished the belt, Joshua was the first available contender to meet mandated challenger Chisora to settle the championship vacancy. But Joshua has rejected that chance and Chisora will now take on Kubrat Pulev, the dangerous Bulgarian who sits just below Joshua in the EBU ratings. Since both Chisora and Pulev are promoted by Sauerland, no purse bids are necessary and the EBU simply await a date and venue from their team.

“Unfortunately Joshua did not accept to dispute the EBU title.” confirmed EBU General Secretary Enza Jacoponi. “So the vacant title will be disputed between Derek Chisora and Kubrat Pulev.”

So who will face Watford’s “AJ” on April 9 in London? His opponent will be announced by promoters Matchroom this week and umours towards the end of last week suggested France-based Cameroonian Carlos Takam, 33-2-1 (25) in a final eliminator for the IBF title currently held by Charles Martin. Aside from Erkan Teper, whose future is in the balance following a recent positive drug test, Joshua and Takam are the IBF’s highest ranked contenders, so this is wholly feasible. Boxing News has, as yet, been unable to reach either Takam’s manager of the IBF for further comment.

Man this is a dope fight if it happens,

As part of the WBA’s announced effort to ultimately have one recognized champion per weight division, the sanctioning body has ordered a mandatory title bout between Super World super featherweight titlist Takashi Uchiyama and World super featherweight titleholder Javier Fortuna.

Representatives of both fighters “are requested to begin negotiations for a mandatory title defense,” reads a letter from WBA attorney Michael E. McAleenan. “If the parties are unable to reach an agreement and submit signed bout contracts within the next thirty (30) days, the WBA will issue a call for a purse bid.”

Thirty-six-year-old Uchiyama is an 11-year pro (24-0-1, 20 KOs) who won the World title in January 2010 by stopping Juan Carlos Salgado via 12th-round TKO. The Japanese power-puncher has successfully defended his crown 10 times, most recently this past New Year’s Eve, stopping Oliver Flores by third-round TKO. Undefeated, “KO Dynamite” has only one “blemish” on his otherwise spotless record, drawing against Michael Farenas in a title defense in July 2012. Uchiyama was upgraded to Super World champ last February.

Fighting out of Massachusetts by way of the Dominican Republic, his 26-year-old opponent is a seven-year ring vet, also undefeated (29-0-1, 21 KOs, 1 no contest), who won the vacant World title by beating Bryan Vasquez via unanimous decision last May, a title he successfully defended this past September by stopping Carlos Ivan Velasquez via 10th-round TKO. The southpaw drew once, against Luis Franco in August 2013, while his August 2010 bout with Francisco Lorenzo, for the vacant WBA Fedebol super featherweight title, was declared a no contest.

At some point, first-ranked Jezreel Corrales, interim WBA World super featherweight titleholder, will also have to be introduced into the mix. “El Invisible” (19-1, 7 KOs, 1 no contest) won the title last December by retiring Juan Antonio Rodriguez in the 11th.

May actually see Uchiyama in the states since Fortuna is a PBC fighter.

Well then K2 shouldn't take step aside money, shouldn't have trusted the WBC, and stood firm during their meetings in LA. But the reality is they waited to see who won the Cotto Canelo fight and that's a big mistake on GGG's team. Now, word around town is that when the meeting happened GBP and K2 agreed that the purse split would have been 90-10 in favor of Canelo. GBP made GGG's last fight a ppv, not K2. K2 acknowledged that the fight has to get bigger in order for GGG to get a bigger cut. This is all business. If it were up to me, I would like it just like you would but it's not like that. Let these 2 fighters amp it up more and they both get more dollars. Until the SB's get strict and really start to care about the sport itself, the fighters have to do what's best for themselves, financially. I make my remarks based on what's reality here, not what I want to see

HBO just wanted to do the fight no Showtime. Stevensons promoter said they were offered a great deal and it wasn't the money, the problem was they/Haymon wanted a joint PPV with Showtime and HBO rejected that idea, they don't think it's big enough for a joint ppv.
So that's HBO fuckin up.

Do these fucks ever just sit down and talk to fans, browse forums and really find out what fans want to see? Do they ever really look at their undercards?

Yeah probably but does a fight that MIGHT sell 200k on PPV need to be split by two networks? What the hell would the economic look like behind that? They had to move mountains for Mayweather vs Pacquiao to happen and that was for a gazillion dollars. I just don't see any two rival networks doing something like that for a fight of this magnitude.

But why does Stevenson even have to have another network involved? He doesn't have an exclusive network deal like Kovalev does with HBO, he's free to fight on any network he wants to so why demand Showtime split the whole thing? Makes no sense.

Stevenson is nearly irrelevant at this point, about to be 40 years old. Kovalev vs Ward is happening around November so I guess that's the big fight for light heavyweight. I'd love to see Stevenson vs Kovalev like everyone else but it's not happening as long as two networks are involved.

Kovalev's Manager Reveals The Terms For Stevenson Unification

By Steve Kim

Egis Klimas, the manager of unified light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev, wasn't all that amused by the antics of WBC titlist, Adonis Stevenson, after his fighter stopped Jean Pascal in their rematch this past Saturday night at the

Bell Centre in Montreal.

Following Kovalev's seventh round stoppage of Pascal, Stevenson entered the ring with his entourage and confronted Kovalev during the live HBO post-fight interview.

"Basically he jumped in the ring with all his goons, which means he is scared. Like Tyson Fury, he said a message to (Deontay) Wilder but he was by himself. Stevenson has to get into the ring with a bunch of goons and act like a clown," said the manager, of the verbal altercation that took place between Kovalev and Stevenson.

What distresses Klimas more is the message being put forth by Stevenson regarding the financial split that was offered for a fight between the two.

"He was - him and his goons - yelling,'50-50'. So basically my thinking is that the management and the promotional team is not bringing to Stevenson 100-percent of what is being offered to him," surmised Klimas. "So basically Stevenson is missing some information where he doesn't know that the deal offered for Kovalev was 50-50 and all they're yelling is '50-50' was coming out of their mouth."

Klimas makes it clear, "Yes, we offered a deal for Stevenson-Kovalev 50-50. The contract was there for like three, four weeks. We had a deadline date, we had everything they asked. We guaranteed them $2 million from the first money that comes from the pay-per-view. It was there they had everything they need. At the last minute, Friday (January 22nd) was the last day and they asked for an extension till Tuesday (January 26th). HBO gave them the extension.

"But still, Tuesday they come back and knocked it out. They said,'No, we're not going to do it.' Their excuse was,'We want to make it 50-50' and plus it has to be [a] combined [pay-per-view] with HBO and Showtime. Nobody thinks Stevenson is in a league where Floyd Mayweather was when they made the (Manny) Pacquiao fight. Second of all, the last time Stevenson appeared on Showtime it was December of 2014, which means he has no deal with no TV network. Everybody around the world knows Sergey Kovalev has a signed deal with HBO. We can't go away from HBO.

"So my message to Stevenson and to all the boxing world: basically the management is for the fighter, looking for where is the best fight, where of course the best money has to be."

Klimas broke down the finances for this proposed fight: "We offered Madison Square Garden or the MGM Grand, where the estimated gate was $4 million. We offered approximate sales with HBO, 300,000 buys which is another $9 million. We offered sponsorships which is about another million dollars, international sales around the world - that's another million dollars."

The manager believes that there was between $12-15 million for both sides to divide up and he reiterated - "We were willing to split 50-50. Question is: can his management guarantee him a fight for this kind of money? So basically what is his management looking for? Protecting the fighter or protecting their business and protecting their TV network? That's the biggest question here."

When asked if Kovalev was moving on, Klimas answered, "Yes, of course, we already did. There's no more negotiations. We are moving."

It seems destined that 'the Krusher' will now have a homecoming fight in Russia before his much talked about showdown with Andre Ward in the fall.

"Today we do not need Stevenson. Stevenson is already, what, 39 years old? Who's he going to fight? He's going to fight for a million-and-a-half (dollars), maybe somebody is going to give him two, then who's he going to fight. Andrzej Fonfara or ( Elieder) Alvarez and then knocked out in the ring and his career is going to be over. We don't care anymore, he's the past, he's history," stated Klimas.

AMIR KHAN has announced on Twitter he's fighting CANELO at 155 pounds for the middleweight championship. Oscar confirmed it. Lol what a fucking joke Canelo is man
What you need to understand 2-0 is that it's a business. I mean imagine if you got a high paying job, became one of the highest paid employees in the entire industry, and then people that spend their money on you want you to take on a project that's extremely difficult for measly millions. Put yourself in Canelo's shoes and tell me how you'd feel?
