Doesn't this statement go against your entire argument? If Floyd is a fighter, just fight. Who cares about the gloves! You just murked your entire argument lol

Also, Floyd only fights with certain style of gloves himself. He has brittle hands so he always wears gloves that protect his hands more. Maybe he should get out of the sport if he can't use a punchers glove. Again, killing your own argument.
Nevermind yall dont get it. Im not talking technically or period. Im just saying all the bickering is silly. I dont think the outcome is determined and if it is than there should be a rule on the gloves in general before any negotiations or alterations. I blame boxing for allowing parties to negotiate and to be able to pay off for particular gloves. Just silly to me. It is what it is. Got Em!!

I still can't believe Danny Garcia is fighting Rod Salka. He's ranked #77 in the weight class below him lol.

Yes this dude is content on fighting nobodies which is funny to me. Crawford should move up and beat his ass. Got Em!!

HBO would never pay for that fight. Eventually all these mismatches and Showcase fights COULD end up biting Showtime in their asses because the ratings have been really low lately. For the sake of boxing I hope they start getting more control of the quality of fights cus as it is now Al Haymon just says these are the fights and Showtime signs the checks without hesitation. That's not good business.

I honestly believe these weak ass fights are coming from Haymon cuz once DLH squashes it with HBO, those fighters will be going to hell against all TR and contracted HBO killers. It makes sense to me cuz they want all those TR fighters to wear eachother out to make it easier on themselves. But I've been saying TR and HBO is the best, are you guys barely catching on?

Hopkins-Kovalev Unification Rumblings, 'The Alien' Speaks

By Rick Reeno

Sources with knowledge of the situation have advised BoxingScene.com that there is serious interest from HBO to put together a fight between WBO light heavyweight champion Sergey Kovalev (24-0-1, 22KOs), if he beats Blake Caparello (19-0-1, 6KOs) next month, and IBF/WBA champion Bernard 'The Alien' Hopkins (55-6-2, 32KOs).

For most of 2013, HBO was building up a unification fight between Kovalev and WBC champion Adonis Stevenson (24-1, 20KOs).

A few months ago, Stevenson jumped ship to rival network Showtime, with the obvious goal of facing Hopkins. Kathy Duva of Main Events, who felt confident that she reached an agreement with promoter Yvon Michel for Stevenson-Kovalev unification on HBO, filed a federal lawsuit against Michel, Stevenson, Showtime, Al Haymon and former Golden Boy CEO Richard Schaefer.

Some insiders believe the legal situation surrounding Stevenson could potentially push back a Hopkins unification until 2015. And given that Hopkins is 49-years-old, it's no surprise that he's open to explore every lucrative possibility.

There is also no surprise that HBO is interested in Hopkins, because Kovalev's options at 175-pounds are running a little dry.

While not revealing too many details regarding some of the discussions going on behind the scenes, Hopkins did confirm two things to BoxingScene - 1. There have been no serious negotiations to make a fight Stevenson. 2. Hopkins is open to facing Kovalev next.

"My thing is this, I have to look out for my position, and my team is looking out for what my situation is - and Kovalev might be a more viable quicker [fight to make], from what I'm understand, than Stevenson is. The perception is, is that Kovalev is a killer and Stevenson doesn't want to fight him, he wants to fight an old man. If that's the case, I'll knock off Kovalev first, because I believe that I can beat him. I believe that he's a tough fight, but I believe that I can beat him. It's a fight where if I make a mistake I can get knocked out. And yeah Bernard Hopkins can get knocked out too, and so can Kovalev and so can Stevenson, who's been knocked out once in his career," Hopkins told BoxingScene.com.

"I got two titles and a legacy. What's Kovalev got? A punch and a WBO title - let's do it. He can take care of this softie coming up, that nobody gives two sh*ts about, not even you Rick. And as quick as he knocks this guy out, we'll see him on the quickest available date that comes. I have nothing to do with no lawsuits. I am not being sued. I don't have anything to do with whatever. I want to be the undisputed champion before I leave and if that means getting one or the other first - I am not going to discriminate. If he wants to be undisputed then he can get it. And if he don't, then he can see if he continues to keep getting ratings by fighting guys like the one he has coming up."

"This is a guy who claimed that he wanted to fight me [last year], but then*he ran to fight Cleverly which was an easier fight than me. Smart management by Kathy Duva. She needs the manager of the decade for that move, because it was a good move to fight the least dangerous and win. But - I'm still here."

And people were claiming Adonis ducked Kov but.Hopkins, for the third time, says Kov ducked him. And lets not forgot all the evidence Asonis' camp released. Man it looks bad for Kov right.now.
Hopkins is talking half truths though, as he publicly said he WANTED Kovalev to fight Cleverly:

6/19/13 Hopkins would face Kovalev, but ...

“For me, it’s a no-brainer,” the 48-year-old Hopkins said. “Kovalev can go get Cleverly, I can probably get Adonis and we go head-to-head and give the fans the old light heavyweight battles they had in the late '70 and '80s, and then the winners can fight. It doesn’t seem complicated. OK, maybe I’m being a little sarcastic.”

Adonis still ducked Kovalev nothing changes that and it appears he's sidelined now because of the lawsuit against him and Al Haymon.

Quillin-Korobov Middleweight Title Fight Ordered By WBO
By Jake Donovan

Bob Arum and Oscar de la Hoya have declared to the world that boxing’s Cold War has officially thawed and that their companies – Top Rank and Golden Boy Promotions, respectively – are ready to do business together.

They now have until July 31 to make good on that promise.

The World Boxing Organization (WBO) submitted a letter to the offices of both promotional companies ordering a mandatory title fight between defending champ Peter Quillin and top challenger Matt Korobov. The bout was officially ordered on July 1, three days after Korobov advanced to the top spot with a 10-round win over Jose Uzcategui in Omaha, Nebraska.

With each ordered mandatory title fight comes a 30-day period for the fighters and their respective camps to negotiate a deal. Should the two sides fail to come to terms, the sanctioning body will order the fight to go to a purse bid.

Damn, ESPN puts Danny Garcia vs Rod Salsa on BLAST!!!

This is the one good quality of Teddy Atlas; calling out the bullshit organizations and managers/promoters.

Also love this comment I read:

I want people to realize exactly what this fight means

This fight shows just what Haymon and Team Garcia think of their fighter

This is how low they have to go to find a guy who is as close to "guaranteed" victory as they can get

The 77th ranked Light Weight. Not Junior Welterweight, this guy is the 77th ranked 135 pounder with 3 knockouts in 22 fights.

If Maidana really took the money to change his gloves then that needs to stop as an excuse. People hate on Mayweather for what he does in contact negotiations but fighters have tried to control negotiations forever.

Here's a quote for Boxing Is ...: Reflections on the Sweet Science by Thomas Mauser

"Robinson was tough on the contract negotiations" Fullmer said when the last of what would be four fights between them was done. "He wanted all the money and everything else in his favor. He wanted everything his way."

I read an interview today from team Maidana and they said they "have no idea where ESPN got that information" and that it's false, Maidana was not paid extra money and that moving forward with the current negotiations they will specifically demand Maidana gets to wear MX gloves. The article is on boxingscene I'm to lazy to look for it now. So I'm not sure which is true.

Regarding that quote and Robinson (and many other fighters who called the shots) that's cool if it's in the contract. What Floyd did though was not something that was in the contract and he made him change to a different style of gloves the day before the fight. That's why I say it was a bitch move on his part. Now if it was in the contract already, then I would have had no problem with that since Maidana would have agreed and that's on him, but that wasn't the case.
