Jones has probably the highest ceiling of any MMA fighter I can think of, and he's already the champion.

I think it's going to take a Chael Sonnen type grinder to beat him, but as we all know, all it takes is one punch/kick/elbow/knee to end all of that in MMA. I do like the Machida matchup, because Machida is pretty good with range/distance/timing.

I agree with Rashad's analysis:

"If anybody can give him trouble, I would think it would be Machida, and for a couple of reasons. One reason is Machida's used to that kind of craftiness and movement because he trains with Anderson Silva, so he's used to seeing that. That's where Jon Jones got a lot of his style from is Anderson Silva. So Lyoto is used to training with the originator. One thing Jones brings to the table that Anderson doesn't is the ability to take the fight to the ground. He brings that ground and pound and Jon is very good at that, so there are a couple of areas where Lyoto will have to watch out for Jon. But for the most part, if he can use his footwork and watch out for some of the tricks and not stay on the outside and watch like everyone else does... I think he could do pretty good in this fight."

Machida is great at using his footwork to find range and work angles.

I see the threats to Bones looking something like this.

1. Machida- Hard style to crack, Bones gets sloppy a lot and Machida has the best counters in MMA. Sumo can help him in the clinch where Bones gets most of his takedowns.
2. Shogun (Healthy)- Hits hard as shit, reckless style leaves guys open, good off his back.
3. Hendo- Top 4 in the clinch with Bones, Page and Randy. Hits hard as shit, unbreakable chin.
4. Rashad- Knows Bones better than anybody, fast when he's not tired, great wrestling.
5. King Mo- Best wrestling pedigree at 205, hits hard, decent boxing.
6. Phil Davis/Alexander Gustafsson- Put them here since they train together, are the two biggest prospects at 205 and both have another couple years before they're ready for Bones' level. Davis is a great wrestler with weak standup and Alex is a great striker with good wrestling. I'm not sure if Davis will ever put it all together since he panics when he gets hit but I think Alex can if they don't rush him like they did when they had the two of them fight in their respective 2nd fights in the UFC.

Feijao might have a good shot in a couple years, would like to see how he does against the top 10 UFC guys. If Mousasi would stop being a dick and come train in the US he could work on his wrestling which is really his only weakness. Mousasi with takedown defense could trash Bones on the right night.

That all being said I still think Bones beats all of these guys more than 50% of the time. Unless someone lamps him and he gets Brock syndrome and is terrified to get hit.

think the quote under his comment shows why
EDIT: Damn! My bad, I never saw that quote from the first time I read his comment. I disregarded it as being part of his sig. But yeah, for sure, that is some faggot ass shit.

Nonetheless, his ability to fight is seemingly unparalleled. The guy is crazy good. All I know about him is more or less what I've seen in the cage. Watching him against Rampage is what inspired me to make this thread. I'm in no way endorsing any of the faggotry that may go on outside the cage lol.
