i wonder if they covered his face to make people think he wasn't white.
Are you talking about the Setrippin Cover? If so lol, that is quite possible. Especially considering it was his debut album (not many people knew who Mr. Doctor was at the time) and promoted with Lynch's name.

To be honest though, as simple as the cover is, it's bad ass. The dark blue/light blue "smoke" contrast, the chill posture of Doc with the white shirt and the lettering of the title/"Brotha Lynch Hung Presents" completes it as a true classic album.

Either way, the album is gold. If they truly did "dark out" doc on the cover to make him less noticeable as being white, they were smart as all it did was make more sales/interest. If "Setrippin" released with a cover similar to "Bombay" or "Odysea" I wouldn't be surprised if it did not reach the same popularity when released, regardless of the album's content. Who knows if it would truly have had that huge of an effect on Doc's image/interest but it is kind of a funny question

^ I disagree. What color lettering could they have used without destroying the illuminated effect of the overall cover? The green one that I own is just awful. Perhaps, they could have tried the lettering in the same fashion as the rest (blueish looking), but it would require more detail I guess.

^^ fo reals the pink was a mistake they wanted it blue originally..i personaly think the pink color makes it look tight!
Comment by Dirtywork:
"This pink was on the original release. All of the pink on the record was actually a mistake. It was supposed to be blue but there was a mistake in the color code between Black Market and the manufacturer"

Thanks to the people posting the pics and interviews.

It's not common to see a gangsta rappers album cover have the name in pink lettering but it looks better than the re-released green one.

I remember when the second cover for BOMBAY was advertised on the original Siccness site. It was the illustration that Foe Loco made. People were saying that they were trying to hide Doc's light skin, first SETRIPPN, then on the BOMBAY ad that had Doc's face tinted blue, and then with the cartoon one. It wasn't till Phantom did the final that people were happy with it.

I'm still surprised they hid his skin color. It's not like light skinned rappers were never seen before.

I for one dont think it was to hide his skincolor, i think it was to to pop out the blue and make it "sick looking". Plus I'm not sure when this video came out but my guess would be around the time the album came out (if anybody know post it)

My point being why try to hide it to later shoot a video?
