Gameplay wise, The GTAs had a lot of glitches, shitty aiming system, and many other problems..

It's one of my favorite games, could actually be my favorite game, but it's not the best game.

as in mechanics, yes, it has PLENTY of faults....as an idea, gold.

I worked for the lead artist of GTA3 for another company he staretd and talked about the influences... there were a lot of games that already did what GTA3 did...


but it's a definately that GTA3 blew the doors open for that type of game to become mainstream

1988 "Star Control 2"


it's been recently re-released as "Masters of the ur-quan"


also there was a series called ultima that kind of did freeroam pretty good but nothing compared to star control 2


here's the link to the (free) remake of star control 2... but this shit is one of those games that will claim 80-200 hours of your life if you go through with it.... some real nerd shit, but what can I say, that';s my industry

sum of the games i remember being addicted to as a kid were super mario 3, tmnt the time travel one.....also Gunstar Heros, Double Dragon/ BattleToads, Ghostbusters for sega, Chakan the foreverman, Zombies ate my neighbors, Kid Chameleon....Maximum Carnage...too many too name sorry...
