I know its rare to have both...but thats how its supposed to be, its gotta be both. If you gone put some sorry lyrics over a tight beat, then dont make the song. I remember when it was a time when people used to quote the whole verse to songs. But when I do my songs, I gotta have both. Im not spittin to a sorry beat. But, I write my lyrics before I even get a beat.

What's going on in rap now across the globe is the average cat don't give a shit about lyrics...and any cat that has lyrics gets called a backpack rapper anyway. Cats out here wit lyrics get hated on....and the south has takin over. so there you have it it ain't about the lyrics. for me the beat always comes first but your flow has to be an instrument with a rhythm that rides that beat. Plus at least say some ole shit of your own..your own style...so I think it's beats---style----then lyrics. but if you wanna make some money right now..just make a lil jon song wit some old ass Dre noises in it wit an 808 and rap about a strip club. ching ching $$$$$$$$.
