Personally...I'd rather see Boise State than either Ball State OR Utah.

But...

@ JIM BEAM: I was told that Boise plays both BYU and Utah next year...any truth to that, that you know of?
I believe BSU is moving to the MWC in 2011 or 2012. They own the WAC and serve no purpose being there.

Also, dont be surprised to see the MWC being considered for BCS contention in the next few years.

I'm going to assume that neither of you have the Mtn. channel and therefore haven't seen ANY utah games. Our defense is nasty. Learn about it.. tebow would get sacked, frequently. I am all for moving Boise into the Mountain West, hell, bring hawaii over as well and just make it the next offical BCS conference

You're making dumb assumptions. I live 3 hours from Salt Lake. Our LOCAL channels are based out of Salt Lake. I see plenty of their games. But if you're THAT impressed with Utah's defense, and that unimpressed by Florida's offensive line ("tebow would get sacked, frequently), then maybe YOU should ''learn about'' Florida a little more.

Florida, right now, would beat Utah in 2 quarters.

And no, Hawaii shouldn't be the ''other'' team; it should be Nevada.

Also...what do you think Florida's defense would do to Utah? And their running game? What about the rest of the passing plays, after, of course, Utah sacks him 12 times? And special teams (both sides)?

i did say it was an assumption. 3 hours away are you in the middle of nevada somewhere? And i am not umimpressed about florida at all i think they will win the SEC CG. I was just saying as a utah fan i would think it would be an interesting game to watch. Florida is a great team and would probably beat us but Utah is under everybodys radar. No one really knows about them because of the gay ass Mtn. and their exclusive rights to broadcast mountain west games. So most people cant see just how good of a football team they are. And hawaii should be the other team what has nevada done in the past 10 years?

I used Nevada because of my bias...lol.

I'm in northern Nevada, born and raised.

I'm not dismissing Utah as a team; they are a very good team who will be a tough matchup in a bowl this year, but I do not think it would be a close game with Florida. I might have exaggerated the 2 quarters...LOL...but I think Florida would pull away in the second half and win easily.

Off to work; finish this later.

They could barely get by OrSU AT home. No way they would beat Florida.

What does them barely beating Orst have to do with anything? If thats your rationale then Utah should be ranked above USC because they got smashed by OrSt. funny logic

We are talking about mid-majors and BCS teams here. They also barely beat a TERRIBLE Michigan team. Better?

In other words, Utah does not stack up very well to BCS competition.

Michigan in michigan the first game of the season before everyone saw how bad they were. I believe that they were ranked at the begining of the year.. like 24 or something . Mountian west teams shouldn't be considered mid major. How about how the mountain west stacks up against Pac-10 teams, a BCS conference...

It doesnt matter if they played Michigan in September or in December....Michigan is a BAD team, period.

And yes, the MWC has onwed the Pac this year...which is having a down year as a whole and may be the worst since 1999...when Standford was the RB representative.

And whether you want them to or not, the MWC is a non-BCS conference...and is considered a mid-major. YOU can not change that.

I was just searching around the interweb and have been reading some stuff about mountain west expansion. One interesting blog had Boise State, Fresno State, and Houston moving to the MWC and splitting it in 2, East and West and making that the 7th BCS conference. Another one i saw was taking out Utah, and BYU and placing them in the PAC-10. Thoughts?

not a bad idea....BUT...the MWC needs more seasons of great records....mid majors are always talked about every season...but given the upset of oklahoma by boise state(GOD I HATE BOISE) they have yet to prove themselves enough to be a BCS conference or team...remember now.. i respect utah and boise...as well as byu...but if they string together multiple wins against bcs opponents..(and not shitty ones) then i would be glad to have them in a bcs conference...

Well, Houston is in the C-USA, which would mean that they would have to re-construct that alignment, becuase they just got to 12 teams and a split-conference-to-division; unless they plan on adding Western Kentucky, which i believe is gogin to the Sun Belt in 2011.

BSU, FSU, and Nevada/NMST would be more practical, but i dont know if NMST would be sweetwning the pot or not. But if the WAC gives even two teams to the MWC, they will have to fill at least one gap in order to get back to the required 8-team conference minimum.
