I'm a mad Bay rap fan now living in England and some of the stores here have some Bay shit, but its CD's which they've imported from Germany, not the Bay. Go figure that out.

What kills me is that this shit is all like weak-ass copies which they getting from Germany and then retailing in major stores. It's all on this German label called 'ZYX' - ya heard of it UnLieutenant?

Some bay folks with labels need to start checking out if this is legit because they look like bootlegs, sound like cheap ass copies, and yet you got major stores here in the UK retailing this shit.

They horrible copies, I picked up Killa Tay's Thug Thizzle comp a few weeks back just cos it was cool to see a Bay CD in my hometown here, but it was actually a copy of one of his older albums with a badly printed cover of the Thug Thizzle one.

And on top of that shit, I dont know if US folks know this, but if a bay album ever does show up in a store here in the UK, they cost like £20 for one cd, thats like 30 dollars...

It's hard to swoop bay shit from over here with those prices, me I just import now from websites, like a box of CD's every month sent over. I get hit with customs charges and all types of hassle, but I'd rather be listening to anything from the Bay than some of the weak ass shit which does get UK release (hello Nelly, Puffy, Jay Z and Ja Rule).
I'm here in Dublin...i feel ya about the whole damn thing and that Zyx and mo beatz records shit, but what can ya do?:dead:

I swoop a lot of non-Bay area stuff in HMV stores on the regular so I had no problem getting the manager and telling him that the ZYX and Mo Beatz bay releases are worse than bootlegs and that they shouldnt be selling that shit. He said he'd send the whole lot back to their distributors and say that to them.

Mad thing is I'm digging so much for Bay albums over here that I feel kind of obliged to pick some of the stuff up even if it has that corny ass ZYX / Mo Beatz german stuff on the back. Some of these CD's sound worse than tapes, and you know the actual artists from the bay aint getting paid for any of this.

I'ma stick to importing off the net from now on. I keep giving the HMV's round here a heads up if I see any more of those German copies on their shelves.

By the way to any Euro heads in here, www.murderdog.com that shit about a free international subscription is no joke. That is proper Bay luv right there, they sending out free copies of their magazine to promote interest overseas - I got a package with a stack of issues a few weeks back, totally free. It takes a while from when you give them your details, but it is 100% real.

I can't big them up enuff, that is properly helping bay exposure and I'ma definately check a whole grip of independent CD's as a result of seeing about them in this magazine, so in that respect Murderdog are definately putting it down for the Bay and repping they artists.

you can say that again!!
well, i liked it in munich for the two years i lived there, but berlin is a much more cosmopolitan city.

copenhagen was cool as hell too though. i was there about 7 years ago and couldn't really enjoy all the pleasures due to my young age then but the city and its people seemed to be very liberal and open minded...i liked that..

if you need connections to some german playa style rappers for a collab, holla at me.

gangsta shit in norway?
damn

anyway yeah you cant find shit here except in a few stores in london ,germany ,a very few in paris & lyon (france) thats about all..

people aint go no gangsta/west coast culture over here thats why they dont buy it or bump it period and they'll probably never..

come on I dont think there's a lotta pimps ,playas & hustlas in norway ,sweden or even france ,people cant relate to that shit and they dont even understand the lyrics..so those who understand some of em bump some NY shit ,underground or not ,and a few others bump the west coast..

bay area rap or gangsta rap will never really be that big over here..I'm sure even kurupt doesnt sell more than 1,000 units in spain for sure for example..
thats all.

It would be cool to see that shit more distributed over here..

forgot to say..a lotta wannabe's over here ,people think they gangstas cause they bump that gangsta shit ..lmao.

anyway peace to all ly real european boys bumpin that gangsta shit..

@ dafrenchkilla

I hear what you're saying, but we're holdin' it down for the West Coast here in Norway.

Pick up Jay Tee & Baby Beesh's Velvetism album.
We produced 5 tracks on their album.
Norwegians do make gangsta shit beat.
