Bay Area Rappers With Regular Jobs

^just gotta make sure people pay you up front and don't play no games, in theory the studio guys can make more bread than the rappers as long as they don't pull the great exposure for you line broke rappers try to pull to get free shit.
I have a solid setup, i need to put it to more use aside from my own personal enjoyment never really tried to make any money off the stuff i do at home.

it's not sad that they have a job. to me it's sad that they're sellin these kids a dream. i'm 34yrs old so I know whats what. someone like Quinn tho who has been a fixture since the 90's to me thats sad. becuz that means he aint handlin his business(finances) but i remember being in the barbershop in the sco and a rapper had to ask the barber to let him slide becuz he didn't have any money. the rapper is pretty well known.
Some people just want that big studio feel. My folks works at a studio in the Bay Area. They keep all the old boards for looks so the dummies keep coming and spending. They rarely use them. They run the speakers.LOL. It all is in the mic set-up, in my opinion. A home studio can produce quality. But from my experience, 90% of artists can't grasp what a real mix is. They come with a little beat on a cd, want you to load it, and record over it. Then they expect it sound like a Jay-Z track, quality wise.
As an engineer you do as the client wishes. I remember sitting in on a couple sessions and trying make suggestions and the artist thinking he had it all figured out. I asked if he could get the beat tracked from the producer and he said it was already mixed and mastered. After, my dude told that is why he does what they want.
If I were to do it again I would record all the vocals and do some minor editing, send all the tracks to be mixed and mastered together, and pick up my master.
Artists/managers shouldn't have to hover over the engineer when he is doing his thing. That is what you pay them for.
