yall some rich muthafuckas trippin off a couple bucks! i'd rather go to the mom & pop shop. i remember hittin up cue's hip hop shop @ top of the hill daly city walkin home from pollicita back in like 96. you hit the store up and they already playin the cd you came in to buy. if not, they'll let you know the hot shit thats out and let you hear it before you buy. let alone they'll be having those autograph signings every once in a while. they got all your clothing on sale too. not too many mom and pops have the signings anymore, but when they do, yall should try and come out to those.

a mom and pop store is considered a dimple records or a rasputins because it is not nationwide, there aren't little stores where you can go cop hella cd's for cheap

Rasputin's is NOT considered a mom & pop store, they are a big corporation with multiple locations.

Even if there was only one it would be too big to be considered a mom & pop store.

The old Star Records in Frisco, Creative Music, B-Sides in Berkeley..those are mom & pop stores and they charge more because they have to, not necesarily because they want to.

The huge chains -- Walmart, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. sell CD's and DVD's at a lower price, without much retail mark-up, because they want to lure customers in to their establishments to spend money on other "big ticket" items, groceries, etc. Unfortunately, this fucks with the business agenda of a mom and pop record shop who only sell music and movies, maybe some gear... shit look what happened to Tower Records. I mean, in a capitalist sense, it make for great business -- why would your average customer go to a mom and pop and pay $17 for each cd, when they can go to wal-mart and pick up that same cd for $10, plus buy some toilet paper, a bb gun, toys for the kids, wifebeaters, some microwavable burritos, and a big ol bag of dog food. It's all about convenience for our lazy American asses. But anyways, big ups to the independent shops and those that shop at them.
