VACAVILLE (AP) ― Vacaville police say a 2-year-old girl is dead after her older brother accidentally shot her.
Police say the toddler was shot in the head when the gun discharged while her 8-year-old brother played with the firearm in the family home around 2:15 p.m. Wednesday. The girl was pronounced dead at a local hospital.
Vacaville police Lt. Craig Courtemanche says the victim's parents were home at the time of the shooting. Both the parents and the boy were being questioned, with investigators hoping to determine how the boy got his hands on the weapon.
