I feel ya I'm from the bay and they play my shit on power 106 in LA one of the biggest stations out their and they wont even take a look at my shit in the bay I just dont understand it.

I cant say a lot about whats getting play out here in the bay, but I tuned in Friday night and San Quinn (2 songs), Keak Da Sneak, E-40, The Federation Hyphee remix all got spinned within a half hour. Thats some pretty good rotation if you ask me.

I understand that a lot of shit still has to be done, artists in the bay still arent getting their recognition and what not but I think KMEL is taking baby steps to work on getting the bay back on top.

i feel u dave!! whenever i listen to the chop shop which comes on around 8 or 9 scotty foxx and mindmotion bump hella bay shit! they can't please everybody but as long as the bay keeps coming with these tight songs with those mainstream type beats they'll play our shit!

the problem aint kmel, cause kmel is tryin their hardest to rep the bay. But they are told what to play, they really dont have too much say in it, clear channel tells them what to play.......they are tryin their hardest to show the bay love though, last night i was in my car and i heard 3 bayarea songs back to back to back..a e-40 track a frontline track and then a ea-ski track...i mean what more do you want, they cant play that shit 24/7.... Id like to see the bay blow up as well but does it really matter to you if they get radio play or not, if the music is dope you should have it on cd so who cares if its on the radio the radio plays alot of weak music anyways.

Also kmel is having a contest for any rappers from the bay, you show your stuff if they like you you get free studio time and e-40 and ea-ski will come into the studio and help you produce a track....so dont hate on kmel too hard, realize this is a buisness and kmel is OWNED by clear channel which is the microsoft of the industry, KMEL does care bout the bay and bay music its clear channel that dosent.

Y'all complainin but in Dago you will not hear a local artist at all. Our station out here dosn't support local artist unless your mexican from dago or Lil Robb. Not a racist but that's just how it is. My dago niggas know what i'm talkin about.

what i dont get is like 2-3yrs ago we were getting NO PLAY AT ALL, none at all 0 zip nodda. And everyone was bitchin, now kmel is actually playin bay songs EVERY SINGLE DAY, they are sendin people from the bay get on mtv battles , they are offering studio time with e-40 and ea-ski for free. I mean what more do yall want, the fact they show any bay love is more than enough considering how the industry works, this is a buisness and bay music just dont bring in as much money as mainstream music does. If it did they would play it, its just a fact of life , thats how corporate america works they dont care about feelings they care about what will make them the most money................but kmel has improved ALOT of the last few yrs and people are still complainin, just be happy they actually took listen to us and started showin us what i think is alot of love.

Keak da sneak get pretty good play , e-40 gets good play , when b-legits album was out he was gettin play , ea-ski is gettin play , the frontline is gettin play..........this is the best the radio has been to us in YEARS, take it for what its worth yall.

Dont forget alot of it has to do with bay artists, like someone from kmel was sayin on here when the 2nd mtv battles came around no one from the bay would step up and go so they just had to send someone that allready worked at the station. When the radio is givin out opurtunities like that its the bay artists responibilities to jump on it, you cant look the other way then complain about it.

They still play too much of that country shit. No matter how you look at. It's up to the rappers reppin the area. To come up with products, advertisement, maybe even a low budget video with no hoes. Turf it so how real it is out here. We might not be crunk out here but we hyfey, and our style is original. I can't wait til it's showcased to the nation before they bite some more shit...

bay_dezinz I understand what your sayin but if you look at the artists that you listed they have been getting radio play for a good 7to 8 years I'm talkin about breakin new artists they are doin a better job but if you go to another state the dj controls the airwaves and artists get support from djs in the south and east a dj will break a record in a club then it filters to the radio if you ask a westcoast dj to play your shit in the club 9 times out of 10 they keep dancin and fuck with bitches and act like you aint standin right there in they face and a radio dj out here has to listen to the boss.

btw someone talked about SD radio stations and I got to agree with them i feel like folks who have kmel are really really spoiled they have a lot more songs on their playlists out in sd it seems like the same 10 songs over and over.
