Funny thing I noticed yesterday (I had a lot of time to kill), so I stepped into The Wherehouse in Salinas.
I was just looking around in there & walked out pissed. Now, I don't bang, but it pissess me off that I walked into a major corp record store (in my area) & there is racks & racks of sureno cd's, but I couldn't get mine in there.

just make good music, bottom line if you got something people want then they will buy it, its bullshit going on with the bars awards for sure, but dont start blamin it on race, shit it aint ever ran buy blacks for one also look at some of the people up for awards, if you know much about music them you would know its ran by a fan of bay music not someone in the industry, i must admit i listen to more latin artist from the south than from the north, but i do bump wood, tone, coner and a few others but i dont look at it as north or south its just music till you make something else of it, if you dont want to work with somebody based on race then thats you but if i was an artist i would keep an open mind about whats out there for you,shit look at spm,bash,happy-p,,mr kee,pit bull,gemini from dallas etc etc, these cats didnt do what they did by sayin "well im latin so i got to make music for latins,shit just get down and go for yours and let everything else fall into place,

when you really think about it...you gotta feel what dude was sayin about them white cats not wanting to fuck with any indie artists with affiliation. think about it. it don't matter if these high up on the ladder white folks make money off of artists...that's what they do. that's how they feed themselves and their families. so if an artist is affiliated with something that can hurt or stop them from making their money then they have every right to not fuck with that artist. we as affiliated artists can't get mad! i would never fuck with a no good homeboy. what would happen if i let a snitch or all bad homie get down on a song with me....that would fuck up everything i've worked for...so i won't fuck with just anybody..i gotta do my background checks and make sure these fools i fucks with are on good status cause i'm lookin out for what's best for me. it's all the same shit. i remember when i dropped "ready for whatever" and submitted songs to different labels and stations and got shitted on from the get....all i kept sayin was " i wasn't bangin on this album...why they fucken with me, i wasn't even bangin"....but when i sat back and looked at the big picture...every other album i did or was a part of was on some scrap killa shit...and like it or not i'm more than affiliated. i'm a northerner and the north is a very huge part of my life. no matter what i do i will always be that. so tone, when you marketed her album a certain way and she got pics on the net of her holdin a strap sportin a red rag shirt, people are naturally gonna associate her and your label with a certain fanbase...so you really can't get mad when some big shots who know nothing but suits and rappers that make them money step back and see a liability and say they don't want nothin to do with it. reality is red is a scary color for anybody to see. look at the history in the rap game. snoop, daz and every other crip rapper gets LOVE...scrap rappers all flued up on their covers get LOVE....but when suge knight walks around in a red bandana shirt he's a fucken monster gangbangin blood from compton that is runnin the show with nothin but violence. i mean the game's video for certified gangstas wouldn't get love from mtv or other shows cause he was flamed up with red rags all over the video. it's the way it is and who knows if it will ever change. romped out norteno got play because of mac dre plain and simple. if it was a gangsta flea solo song it would never have gotten play. and tito's go dumb girl song is gettin play because they are marketing it behind the hyphy movement and it is being pushed by thizz latin, a label run by a homeboy. so thizz latin ain't trippin off tito and coner being gang affiliated. i had a marketing rep for def jam south in atlanta tryin to push a deal for me but he had a hard time when they were presented with my image. they loved everything about me, but the fact that i was bang'd out with flicks all over the place with me throwin signs with sportin red panos..the whole thing had folks trippin. so that fell through but i can't get mad cause it comes along with the territory. i just accept it and say fuck the industry...i marketed my whole rap career to the northern homies and now i have to face the up hill battles i gotta tackle everyday with the knowledge that i put myself in this position and i will have to do what i gotta do to keep it real and push to strive and if it doesn't happen then fuck it, i tried and hopefully someone else can do it. that's all anybody can really do.
