i used to hate bonds but my eyes were eventually opened to the huuuuge mess baseball had become...did he used roids...fuck yeah he used roids...was he one of the best already before using them...yeah he was.
i used to love baseball so i hated bonds for doing this but hes part of a culture and product of his environement...his era imo completely made the history of numbers in the game irrelevant..as far as stats go like hr era on base rbi etc etc...

so ive come to accept things for what they are...and after watching the highlights all night and how genuine barrys joy was and how he said that aaroun sending that message made his career, i got to thinknig.

i feel for this dude...for as much as hes an asshole and a arrogant sob and all around doushebag, its a slap in the face for neither aaron or selig to be there...

yeah barry brought it on himself...

aaron didnt really have to be there, no obligation but when bonds said it made his career to see his message, shit was kinda depressing...what would it have meant for aaron to be there personally...that message seemed like aaron mailed it in, maybe aaron is just a real serious dude but it seemed like a robotic forced message.

but selig had to be there...wether he is unhappy that the record is being toppled under these circumstances but shit happend under his watch....maybe his hands were tied, maybe not, but youre running things, its your league, its baseballs greatest record...selig had to be there.

Thank you, AskG, because you described the exact way that I feel about the situation. Perfectly.

Barry Bonds was and IS not the only person who was using performance-enhancing drugs. I believe there was widespread, rampant abuse by too many players that went unnoticed. Barry's under scrutiny because he was closing in on this record.

Barry Bonds wasn't a nobody before the alleged steroids use. He was, imo, one of the best baseball players in the league (if not THE best). Was he blasting homerun after homerun? No. But he was a sure-shot hall of famer, imo.

Do I think he used? Of course he did. But...it was allowed. HGH wasn't (isn't) tested for. It wasn't a banned substance. Did it give him an edge? Of course it did. Do we know how much of a factor it was? No, and we never will. Maybe 200 of his homeruns are with the help of HGH. Maybe only 20. Who knows?

I'm not going to dwell on it, or one man, unless ALL of the facts come out. That means how much he used, how often, and when it began, and that goes for ALL players that used. Also, when the TRUE benifits that HE recieved from HGH are known (which they never will be...), I'll jump on the 'whine wagon' with others...

On Bud Selig...not a surprise he's not there, and I'm GLAD he wasn't. The story is BARRY BONDS breaking the homerun record. If he was there, it would have been about BUD SELIG not celebrating, yada yada....fuck him.

Steroids happened on his watch; he did nothing.

Bonds happened on his watch; he did nothing.

And now to blame Barry? LOL...Barry deserves blame.

But so does Bud.

Wew. I was tore up last night at the game. Perfect view of #756 off of Barry's bat from beginning to end. I was 15 feet away from where it landed. Motherfuckers were going crazy. What a special night to be there, the atmosphere was electric. To top it off, hopped in the elevator 15 minutes after Willie Mays talked to Bonds to see who standing right there....Wille Mays himself. Talked to me and my boys and was ridiculously humble. Shook all our hands and then he left. Icing on the cake!!

gotta love people who say that Aaron was clean. He and everyone else during that time used shit to gain an advantage too.
