lol, seriously you think it sounds Chicano? Chicano shit usually doesn't sound that funky. I think it sounds like your average 90's WC beat. First part sounds mobb-ish,
HMm...is that right....your drums....need something like..just redo em...Its boring to hear the hi hat quantized at 1/8..or mix it down lower....so its not that obvious...remember most beats the drums give the punch and the bassline either gives the melody or just is something that just rides with the drums....you have too many melodies, to have quantized hi hats like that..everything is too in synq..the drum sounds them selves dont sound to good it all sounds...metalic...also that crash is to frequent, and either sustain it longer..or turn that shit down....Your drum programming is more like a live drummmer who does country or rock n roll except no variation....reverse snare and shit.Snare has no snap and the kik has no punch...All being said i do hear an improvement i just couldnt imagine a rapper rapping on em...I feel that away about alot of my beats, thats why i dont classify mine as hip hop beats...mine are just mood music..or grooves...plus does your shot have a chorus?...there is another melody ..haha

I actually used a drumloop. But I see what your saying, sort of. haha

I don't know, I mean the loop itself sounds alright to me. It just sounds oldschool to me.

Here's the original file:

Check out that other beat I made in my last post. I actually used the same loop again, just layered a clap and pitched it down a bit. Totally different beat though than the first one, different bassline and lead.

Anyways, my way of thinking is like yours a bit as I don't even make my shit with the intention to be raped on. I just make whatever. Yeah I have some rappable shit I think, but most of it is too melodic and slightly too fast I think.

good lookin for the help

pz
u gotta find out what ur trying to do. U cant just buy something cuz someone says its off the chain. What are u trying to get? What are u trying to do? U might waste ur money. Some of the shit u might wanna do might not require u to buy anything. Especially if ur using software.

hehe, yeah, true that with all the cracked software out there. I actually use a lot of freeware plugins as well, there's a grip of good ones.

Some of my favorite freeware VSTi's are:

PolyIblit
Synth1
ASynth
MinimougeVA
Orca
Xhip
TAL Bassline
Helix
NWBass
4Front Bass Module
4Front Piano Module
String Theory
Yannleo Accentor X-1 Grand Piano
Stringer

I recommend these to everyone, especially the Fruity Loopers since FL comes with such bullshit sounds.

^^^i still havent used a single vst yet. How do u use that shit?
No way, you serious? Their like a must. I mean samples can only take you so far. When you need that synth bass, lead, pad or other synth type sound, VSTs are the way to go.

Try those synths I mentioned, their all free and pretty damn good. Some are good, some are excellent.

If your using FL Studio 7, the easiest way to install VST plugins is to install them to the VST Plugins folder within the FL Studio Program Files directory, that way FL Studio can find them easily. What I mean by directory is the folder where you installed FL Studio to. By default FL Studio7 installs to this program files folder:
C:\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio 7
So once in that folder, you will see a folder called "VST" which is located in this path:
C:\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio 7\Plugins\VST
Then alls you have to do is manually place or extract the ".dll" plugin files into that folder since some plugins come in .zip/.rar files with only the .dll inside rather than a setup file or if the plugin does comes with a setup file, just use the installer program and just install the VST to that folder (C:\Program Files\Image-Line\FL Studio 7\Plugins\VST).

All VST plugins come in the form of " .dll " , just as most picture files come in .jpg, music in .mp3,etc... You should get the point.

Ok then once you have those plugins installed, load up FL Studio, then go to the "Channels" menu, then go to "Add One," then click on "More," then a White rectangular box will come up, then go down to "Refresh" button and finally click on "Fast Scan (Recommended)." Then once it's done scanning, it will say at the bottom of that retangular box that it has found an X amount of plugins, then alls you have to do is select them one by one from that rectangular box. The new plugins found will appear in red color. Then after you select them, go back to the Channels menu, Add One and select your plugins from the list.

Just repeat the process when you install more plugins. Trust me, it gets really addictive because some of these plugins are so fun to fuck with. Sometimes when I'm bored I'll just sit there tweaking away and coming up with wierd sounds. haha
