I was in Bakersfield earlier today burying my grandmother whom just passed away. While I was there I took my children to some of the spots I remember growin up in during my times/visits to grandmas house in Bakersfield.

I was gonna stay another night, but it was too dam hot out there. So I was debating should I go to L.A. and go kick it with the fam out there and see my other grandmother (Long Beach). Then I was like fuck it, I'll just call, didnt feel like drivin over that Grapevine today. That funeral DRAINED me, had my head hurtin and shit.

Thought about going to Fresno and hittin the zoo or some shit, but Fresno is super boring, and I aint got no time to hear them muthafuccas doing that barking and shit, plus the homie Art-Loc is doing a violation in Wasco, so Fresno was out the picture.

I decided to go to Santa Cruz, just to relax, get my mind right so I can deal with the loss my family has just went through. I'm gonna go by the ocean and play some reggae or somethin.

Besides the beach, IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE TO DO IN SANTA CRUZ?

Siccness needs to do a Travel Forum, so when muthafuccas is going somewhere, they can get feedback and ideas on what to do (thanx to all that responded in my Chi-Town thread) Yall be coming up with some good insight and ideas on what to do when folks hit the cities yall familiar with..

A travel forum makes a grip load of sense! It could be way more than just the "hey im leaving to so and so in a couple weeks"situation too.
when i made a thread about flying to san diego I got some worthwhile suggestions i benefited from. The siccness even helped with getting a bag of personal to puff on when i touched down.

Anyways I lived in Santa Cruz for a while, I got too much advice if you still need it big dog. Tonight A homie of mine and resident dj adam 12 (bigga happiness sound) is spinning reggae mashups at the cyprus lounge tonight. Its located downtown on union street and has a very irie atmosphere that includes a large patio out back. Lets see, if your still around friday morning there is a cool breakfast spot called Harbor Cafe (7th st live oak) that has a nice patio, all you can drink mimosa specials, and nice plates for an economical price. The flea markets fun and its open every fri-sunday. It might seem small since your from San Jo but you can definetely find some gems.

If you like to fine dine and are trying to eat specific plates pm me but off top shadowbrook and crows nest are the toppa the top. Legendary to the area.

You could catch an independent movie with the kids at the Del Mar or Nickelodeon theatre. Peep out the live musicians that roam up and down pacific avenue. And if your kids like to skateboard or watch it take em to the new skatepark on the san lorenzo river.

Beachwise i can't emphasize enough to forget the boardwalk and venture around midtown/eastside spots like 30th, capitola or pleasure point.

And while out of towners probally think the catalyst is the best music venue in santa cruz, people in the know agree that Moes Alley is the spot. Actually a Jamaican roots reggae artist by the name of Prezident Brown is gonna be performing there this Saturday. It is a bar though and the ganja smoke is heavy and thick so maybe thats a no go if you with little ones lol.

Oh and Reese if you have music to get off hit up the local urban shops tycoon apparel (41st) & so fresh (downtown).
