Honestly, I got no love for Gray Davis, but common, theres no fuckin reason this shit should be happening. I bunch of rich private republican interest groups and individuals financed a campaign to regain office. We elected David 8 months ago...

67 million down the drain.

Anyone goto a state college? Cause last year I had between 30 and 60 in class, now I have 4 classes with 500 students! I know Davis is partly to blaim, but you gotta ask yourself, is this recall really worth it?

the thing that kills me now. is grey davis just gave every illegal alien a CA drivers licence. now this aint people that got permits or visa's or anything. this is people who are breaking the laws of california. and he is rewarding them?????????????


oh well more money down the drain. when an illegal kills someones family member acceditly. the goverment will be sued. and losse alot more money


the recall shouldnt have started in the first place. but now that it did. id rather have the termanator. he wants to look out for the kids. and thats the future.

Honestly i dont think the terminator will make a good governer. But he has a point when he talks about the way private business and interest groups buy elections. If you think those million dollar commercials are being paid for by common people you need to reexamine the facts. Most big businesses donate to BOTH POLITICAL parties, as in no mater who wins, they still get their favors. So keep an eye out on interest groups, on soft money, on corporate sponsership. Because they have more say in our elections than common peoples do.

this is a great post proppa. Bustamante would be the worst thing possible for this state. Whether the recall issue is legit or not, bustamante isnt and I could gaurantee that arnold would be much better for the job. a lot of people hate him cause he is a republican, but if you look at what he believes in, he is the most liberal republican out there.

First off I'm a union man. I'm voting for Davis again because I voted for him the first time. I make 45 dollars an hour. If it was up to Republicans I'd be making 15 dollars an hour with no benifets no retirement and working with a bunch of cutthroats. Davis won his election fair and square. We didn't recall Bush with his election fiasco. Terminator is a fucking clown. I wonder what the Kennedys really feel about his bitch ass. He can't even participate in a debate unless the questions are given to him beforehand. His buddy Pete Wilson should be shot. After hearing some of C-bo's songs I think he'd do it in a heartbeat. Pete Wilson not only signed the energy bill but wants to take away overtime for the working class. Signed 187 but was proved to have an undocumented housekeeper. What an idiot. This licence shit I don't have a problem with. You think everybody on the road right now has a licence? To homeboy who started this thread you's about 20 right lets see you go work the fields playa,won't even last a day. I'm probably voting No on the recall cuz Davis didn't commit any crimes or really do anything wrong to cause it. He might not be doing a great job but I don't think anybody else would have done much better at the time... It's the legislators just as much as it is Davis anyway.

However the way he's flip flopping on shit now makes it hard to know where he stands and is making me start to reconsider my decision to vote no on the recall.

There's no candidate that I really like right now to vote for on part 2 of the ballot... Ueberroth looks like he could do a lot of good but I don't know where he stands on a lot of other shit yet... Arnold sounded ok at first but now looks like a joke, he's only doing one debate in which he'll have the questions ahead of time, and he's still talking that stupid shit "Hasta la vista," "Terminator," etc. What a dick. Huffington doesn't seem like she knows what she's talking about in a lot of instances... Mcclintock is too far to the right... And I didn't like Bustamonte before all this other shit came out anyway.

I'm thinking Ueberroth right now, I'll have to learn more about him first though.

I don't really know anything about Mecha but on KGO they were saying that back in the day when Bustamonte was a member, it was a racist organization. He also hasn't denied it or addressed it properly, so he's making it sound like the accusations are true.

My main issue with the drivers licenses is this: Right now any illegal immigrant can get a tax ID... Now, they'll be able to get a drivers license (which is no different from those for legal citizens.) Now, with this much identification, any illegal immigrant can get on an airplane, train, etc. With these kinds of loopholes you're just asking for any terrorist to come to Cali and start getting on airplanes. Is this ok with you??

At Davis I had many freinds in MEChA and know various members from other local schools, non of which are racist or violent.

It depends how you read into certain key words though...

From the article you linked:
So why are they racist? Well, according to the Web site for American Patrol, an anti-immigrant group, it stems from MEChA's constitution, Article II, Section I: "General membership shall consist of any student who accepts, believes and works for the goals and objectives of MEChA, including the liberation of Aztlan, meaning self-determination of our people in this occupied state and the physical liberation of the land."

But the truth is, few joining even back then were thinking of overthrowing government. They were talking about changing society, for the better.

To liberate Aztlan, MEChistas pushed to get more Latinos into college and performed community service. Many, like Bustamante, entered public service. MEChAs also led walkouts and protests to form Chicano studies programs and to push for more Chicano faculty hires.

Like I said, I don't really know a lot about it, but from what I've heard on different radio stations and reports over and over is that there were a lot of ideas about overthrowing government and taking land back from the US.

If a republican was making it up I'd expect Bustamonte to come out and deny it. He's addressed it, sort of, he tiptoed around it a little, but I haven't heard him really deny it.
