I just finished up a very very lengthy project where I was creating a rap compilation for every state in the US + The District of Columbia. Huge amount of work, years of collecting and hours organizing, and doing the graphics. The finished result is 55 CDs with over 70 hours of music from 680 different artists from 251 different cities across the US. I will post 3 of the bonus CDs (3 different "50 States Compilations" with 1 track from each state in the US) on some of these boards later on.

I've posted the tracklists for two of the 52, Washington and Oregon. If you're an artist from WA/OR, check and see if your name is on the list.

syko is outta Portland... :dead:
I believe He went to Sammamish HS in Bellevue WA. He's one of those guys who floats around so I had to come up w/ a way to classify him, so I picked the HS they went to. I.E. D-Sane bounced around too but went to Ingraham HS.

whats the cali one lookin like

northern and southern cal deserve their own discs unless u strictly keepin it one per state
Of course there is enough quality music to do dozens of Cali CDs, same with a lot of states, and in my case, Washington as well. But the theme of this project was 1 per state, so I wanted to do it this way. Now that did certainly make the selection process a hell of a lot more difficult.

good shit.. i like the concept.. if you decide to make more, and promote em, i got hella material that would be a better representation of portland.. along wit a few up and comers around town
Yeah you're track on there is awesome.

It was a huge amount of work but what I'm most happy about is that honestly, I can bump 49 of the 50 CDs front to back with all good shit, and that it is displayed in a unique matter with the license plates etc. I don't like throwing a blank grey CD in the system as much, somehow it just ain't the same.

As for making and promoting them, that's where me being nothing more than a fan comes in. I obviously can't sell them b/c it's not my music. Right now I'm just like being able to expose the people that I know to hot shit from all corners of the nation, challenge their notions that quality hip-hop only comes from 6 places.

I'm surprised none of the Portland people have commented on the Oregon cover image. I'm a 206er and don't go down to Portland hardly ever so I don't know a whole lot about the city. But one time when I was there about 5 years ago, I remember coming across this amazing park smack in the middle of a working class neighborhood on the North side of town. I think the park is called Peninsula Park. I was blown away by that thing, the kind of place Seattle doesn't have. So I remembered that when it came time to do the Oregon cover.

damn how much would it cost for you to send me a couple of these compilatios
I am really happy with the interest I've received from folks. It means two things:
1) People understand the link between geography and hip-hop, the two are inseparable
2) People are open-minded as far as the scope of talent goes, trust me there is hot shot in 49 of the 51 states (I would not bump the North Dakota or Maine ones, I made those just b/c I had to finish the set).

I am in the process of uploading every single one onto the internet for the purpose of getting them all to 2 individuals who have helped me out a lot in the past both on a personal level and on musical gathering.

I would not make them for people without charging probably atleast $10 a copy. Making these was a huge amount of time, and it costs a good deal to ship and I keep having to run to Office Depot to buy CDs and supplies. That being said, I also respect artists more than anybody else on here, I can't imagine they'd be real happy if they saw somebody was making some $ off a compilation w/ one of their tracks.

So as of right now, I'm leaning to just keeping these to myself. I want to show folks the tracklists to give them the satisfcation of being on there, b/c like I said, these all KNOCK front to back and making one of these comps wasn't easy. I want Cool Nutz to look up there and see his name a few times and be proud, even if I am just a fan.
