aww come on!! do you at least have a camera on that phone of yours?

~k.
Yes, and I NEVER USE IT. If i want to take pics, ill use a damn camera.

you sound like the people 10 years ago asking "what do i need a cell phone for? my pager and a pay phone is good enough!"
Actually, phones are vital for life, internet is getting CLOSE to that, but as i stated, there are other options.

different strokes for different folks - what's important to you may not be important to other people and vice versa.
Of course, but you and i both know what im talking about. I mean, is it really THAT hard to ask someone the score of a baseball game? Its probably faster too...

i know its your opinion, but you're making the idea of a "regular" person wanting immediate access to sports scores sound ludicrous.
See above.

apple (and other cell phone makers) are including these features in cell phones because more and more "regular" people are finding them to be convenient and (gasp) necessary for their everyday lives.

So now its necassary to check the score of a baseball game, check your MySpace page...or post on the Siccness? Cmon bro, you are NOT winning that argument by any means.

I dont "hate" iPhones...i hate people that get these fancy phones for no fuckin reason other than to have them. Its like what was discussed earlier in this thread...people like fads and the newest shit because its trendy.

For one your a DJ, no? You do business with people, do club shit, etc...you have a purpose for it all.

Im talking about average everyday people who work "regular" jobs, arent celebs, and dont need to know the score of the A's game RIGHT NOW. I mean, is it really worth paying that much for a phone, and whatever the cost is for data a month just so you can check the score of a baseball game for 3 seconds?

Whatever. People do what they do. I use my phone for two things: talking on it (imagine that) and texting with it. If i wanna know the score of a game, it cant be that hard to wait til you get home, use a friends computer, look up at a screen in a bar, or (and heres a way out idea) ASK SOMEBODY.

*shrugs*
get a life.

thats coo they are bringing a new one out and cutting the price, but honestly, they didnt do that much for me to really want one when I have the original one already, and I can update most of the stuff.

there are some other things that they need to focus on fixing/adding, and it doesnt look like they addressed these issues with the new one. Although 3G and GPS is cool, its not enough for me to be pissed about picking the original one up.

^ do you know what the full retail price will be?

~k.
Kayvee, at&t is going to subsidize $200 of the price so I imagine the 8gb will still be $399 at full pop.

And I'll say it ONE MORE TIME lol: The $199 and $299 prices are for NEW or EXISTING CUSTOMERS that qualify for upgrade....Qualifying for an upgrade usually means you have 3 months or LESS on your contract. Unless there are underlying circumstances.

How can I find out how many months are left on my contract? What if i have been with ATT for 6 years? Will I get a better deal? Can I get a better deal if I have been out of contract for a year? Is it cheaper to upgrade online than in the store? What about over the phone? When does this come out? Does it have 3g? What about video capabilities? Do they have a 16gb model? What about a blue one or red one? Will the touchscreen still work in Africa? How heavy is it? Can I put it in my back pocket sit on it and not break it? Does it vibrate and ring at the same time? Can I put rock and rap music on it, or just one type? Can I bring it to the gym? Can I watch videos on it?

i heard if you get a new contract they just tack on an additional 2 years to whatever length of contract you have left. so say if you bought a iphone on janurary and got a 2 year contract and you want a new iphone in july. youll have used 6 months of the contract and sign another contract for 2 more years. so your contract will be up to 3.5 years.

and there aint much on this new iphone that i cant do on my phone already. 3g is not worth it and they data plan for the 3g iphone is $30 a month compared to the $20 data plan for the edge service.

so fuck 3g and wait for the iphone3

You heard wrong....If that was the case there would be people going in every few months to get a new phone and having like 8 year contracts lol

From a company's perspective, if they already have you for 2 years or even 1, why would they lose money on another phone? Believe it or not, the companies DO buy them at full cost. They eat or "subsidize" some or all of that cost if you're in the last couple months of your contract or are a new customer because they will make it back during the course of the contract.

Every cellphone company does it this way so it's nothing new.

they probably have a limit that you cant rack up more then 4-5 years of contract service til they cut you off. but if your a business and think about this. would you rather get guaranteed money for 1.5 years or would you sell them another phone at discount to get guarenteed money for 3.5 years? not to mention the extra $10 per month they receive from the new data plan costing thats an extra $240 per 3g iphone sold.

but anyways did a lil searching on it and found this

Update: Arstechnica was able to speak to an AT&T representative who claims that if existing iPhone owners buy an iPhone 3G, the new 2 year contract replaces the current contract rather than extending it.

so i guess you can only get out of the 2 year contract if you already have a iphone and want to upgrade to the 3g iphone but then itll be replaced by a new 2 year contract anyways. other then that they just extended your contract (just like nextel and sprint do) for 2 more years on top of your remaining contract.

yes i know people dont pay, but its like that in any industry, cars, jewerly, eletronics, homes, etc.

no they don't "probably" have that....

With at&t and every other wireless carrier I know of you can NOT have more than 2 years on a contract at any given time. Period point blank.

If anyone who works for Verizon or another carrier wants to chime in, please do so. I can only speak for at&t.

Yeah, but my I heard from my homie's BM's sister that her 3rd cousin signed a contract for 3 years and got 2 free iPhones, is that true?

Can I just upgrade my iPhone that I have now to get a camera? Will they exchange it for free for the new one?
