I just heard something a little disheartening......

8 players from San Diego's 1994 Superbowl team have died. The latest Junior Seau.
We have the New Orleans issue, players trying to seriously hurt other players.

We have Deion Sanders who is on the "morning show" 1 minute trying to defend himself of being accused of being a violent husband who threaten to kill his wife, then the next minute on the NFL network talking about Junior Seau killing himself.

My guess is that if this whole thing keeps up, football will not be the #1 sport in america in the next 15 years....

Seems like a lot is going on just because the NFL is more popular then ever imo, so we are constantly hearing the negative news. Think about it the the NFL has hit worse stretches, you remember when Deion Sanders, Michael Irvin, and random cowboys were getting caught up every other week either using cocaine or dealing marijuana, i even think a cowboy committed suicide. Who remembers Rae Carruth? Also what about Ray Lewis, wasn't he involved in a murder and now is one of the main faces of the NFL. I hate to say it but controversy sells and i think all this will only add drama to the NFL and make it that much more popular.

aIt seems that way. The latests deaths of NFL players are being blamed on how violent the game is and what significance that may have on the brain. Dave Duerson said he shot himself in the chest so they could examine his brain. The studies did show that he had major trauma in his brain due to concussions.

I dont know man, these players are fast, more athletic and stronger than ever. On the flip side concussions have been happening for a long time in the NFL. My cousin played NFL football for 7 years in the early to late 80's and had concussions...I hope something is done but not to drastic..

If the NFL loses that lawsuit that now has over a 100 plaintiffs, they will owe billions of dollars and that's when the NFL is.gonna be in trouble...

so all this soapoperah shit (besides seau) and this is what's making the nfl bad? what about the new rules at play or better yet every player now that says "it's just a business" and try to milk their supposed team for everything they got since thats what they play for now. you got hard hits being called as penalties which should be extremely severe but to add to it they need to fine men for trying to do their job. some NFL shit is just shameful

i remember i used to be able to watch non stop football from morning to night every sunday and literally enjoy that day. now i watch my team and highlights and barely talk about it the next day to people. NFL used to be amazing and now it's just good (still the best sport) and it wasnt the bullshit that ex players did that fucked it up.

How is this different from any other celebrity? More money = more drama

see this is where they fucked up. if they had some type of health plan for ex players, if they put some of that massive profit every year aside to take care of their own they wouldn't be in this mess.

everyone knows football is violent and instead of changing rules and whatnot, they should just recognize these injuries are part of the game, no different than a boxer may end up like Ali.

they can try to prevent stuff all they want but it wont help much cuz these injuries typically occur after years and years of playing, literary thousands upon thousands of violent collisions.

some things are good like how they handle guys who get concussions by taking them out the game for a week or two. but the honest truth is something people don't want to hear - that's not enough time. when a boxer gets a concussion or knocked out they are usually suspended for 90 days for medical safety. ain't no nfl player gonna sit 3 months.

You would think the NFLPA would have somethin in the cba about on the job health risks, but who knows. I hate to see the NFL fold because of this but it is a real possibility.

it wont fold there's too much money. I mean something like $9 billion in profits last year? way too big.

I just think they're going about in the wrong way. with that kind of money shouldn't be too hard to take care of their own but the owners have been greedy, its not like there hasn't been an effort to get something in place for years now.
