Sources identified the man who was shot and killed by police while biting off parts of another man's face near Downtown Miami on Saturday.
Police sources identified the man as Rudy Eugene.
Police said Eugene was found attacking another man near the west end of the MacArthur Causeway and Biscayne Boulevard on Saturday afternoon.
"When the officer approached him, told him to stop, pointed a gun at him, he turned around and growled like a wild animal and kept eating at the man's face," Fraternal Order of Police President Armando Aguilar said Sunday.
A witness said Eugene was biting off pieces of the other man's face and tossing them aside. He described it as looking like a scene out of The Walking Dead.
Police then shot and killed Eugene after attempting to stop the assault.
The officer on the scene believed Eugene was on drugs.
The victim was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital on Saturday in critical condition.

Fuckin bath salts man...When I was all fucked up after football games I would hit the tub with epsom salts.
Now i fear I may turn into a zombie. So this is what life is gonna be like moving forward huh...Now I keep a brain in the freezer and everynight when I wake up in a cold sweat wondering if I have become I zombie I go look at the brain.
I figure the night it looks good and I still feel okay I will be able to warn the family and have my old lady grab one of the tools and buck one for humanities sake
