I see your point........ She has her company that is a branch off a bigger company in L.A. I can go to the bigger companys website to get the client list but just cause the company says they do publicity for certain people doesn't mean she does. That can go for anyone you give me a client list for.

I know Li Mari because Im one of her media contacts, so she has never done publicity for me. But every time a well known star comes out here she always is able to use her contacts to get me an interview for my show.

in my opinion it is important to have a publicist to go along with your management team if your gonna be a successful artist out here
To that point, even if they do have a deep client list and good contacts it's definitely a struggle for any publicist to get an unknown artist placement in publications as space is tight. Your best bet is to get your buzz up first.

And really the questions you want to be asking are what clients have they done who are of similar status as you are, what type of media campaigns they can do on your budget, and what previous successes they have had. Remember that NO publicist worth their salt will guarantee you anything.

But I really like Jacky Johnson, she used to work for TreMedia and I think she does FAB's stuff. Super cool and hella down. Dove is also good at what she does, her company is called TygerEye and she used to do stuff for JakeOne, DipSkate, Ron Browz, etc. Matt Conaway from Movement Marketing does Boot Camp Clik and stuff like that. Then you also got dude from Koch doing his own thing as well (can't remember his name right now).

It irritates me when someone wants a Publicist, and they don't even have a Manager.

If you don't have any shows, projects, or at least a single circulating - a Publicist is the last thing you need.

There needs to be some kind of buzz already, whether it be in the streets or Nationally for me to pull the Media in regarding an artist.
very true! like someone else said, there needs to be more threads like these. maybe the bay area music scene would be better if the artists and the people involved in their careers were more EDUCATED and INFORMED on the bare essentials needed inorder to get out of the bay.

Glad to see you in search of a Publicist. Good to know that you are trying to create, obtain and maintain a buzz. Also search out a great Manager and a Radio Promoter.

Many blessings and keep it pushing in that professional manner.

basically you have no need for one until you have some type of popularity, when you get too busy to do it yourself
