The shooting happened just before 1 a.m. at The Library on Folsom Boulevard. Security officers at the club say there were about 150 people inside, mostly college students, when a man in his 20s got into a fight with a group of people. They were all asked to leave and the altercation spilled outside.
Police officers say the man took out a hand gun and opened fire. A stray bullet struck the woman sitting in her car about 25 yards away. Sgt. Norm Leong with the Sacramento Police Department said the victim was simply in the wrong place at the wrong time and that she had nothing to do with the altercation. She was apparently preparing to leave for the evening.
