D-Style...I don't think that could have been said in a more perfect way! I agree with your comment 100%...I grew up around gangs all my life and I was involved in all that shit. One day I woke up and for some reason my way of thinking was totally different. I realized that about 95% of my homies were either dead or in prison for all this gang bang bullshit. That's not where I wanted to go at all. I see these fools 20 years old and older claiming they are men cuz they handle thiers. Well guess what...in my eyes you have no idea what it is to be a man. You are just a bunch of old boys. This post is not directed to anyone specific so don't start hatin'! It's to everyone that has this sort of mentality. I'm not putting anyone down for what they believe in or what they represent in anyway but I don't think that it is the smartest route to take in life. So what if Lil' Rob and Knightowl are surenos and what if they get air play? That just means you need to work a little harder to try to get your shit on the radio. Trust me they aren't gonna come to you! And like someone else said in this thread...if you made your music for more than just one group of people than you would be looked kinder upon as far as getting air play. I would offer to try to hook something up in the 7o2 but it doesn't seem like that's what you all are looking for so fuck it. I agree with what your sayin in a way but it goes deeper than that. I think the main reason that alot of us get pissed about it is the fact that they never give our areas any play. Back in the day they used to play frost, lighter shade of brown, and cypress hill on the radio all the time, but at the same time they were giving love to e-40, tooshort, mac dre, dru down, celly cell, the click plus they were givin love to the black rappers in LA . Now they don't play any of that shit just fuckin lil rob, cam'ron, nelly, missy elliott. thats why we hate the radio if they played shit from everywhere i wouldn't have any problem with them getting play over here.

What I'm trying to say is I dont think you would be as supportive of a Norteno blowing up in LA as you are to a sureno getting radio play in NorCal. but if I'm wrong i'm wrong I'm just basing it on shit I've seen in the past.

If I seemed biased it's because a lot of my homies are surenos, I have family that are surenos, so that's really all I know when it comes to chicano gangs. But I'm not about that shit, I still think it's stupid and fuckin up our neighborhoods and reputation as a people but that's how it is and it isn't changing. And I'd actually think that'd be tight if some northern groups got played down here. I bump lowdown all the time.
