Hmmm...i liked it..not as much as Hero...but still a great flick...why didnt you like it?
And for those that dont know...HOFD is NOT a kung-fu movie...its a love story...that happens to have kung-fu fighting in it...
I agree it's not a kung fu movie and to be honest I didn't know what to expect. I didn't know the movie existed until I saw posters of it at my local rental spot. I like fighting based films that aren't
really fighting movies. Think
RAN and you'll see what I mean.

IMHO the plot was overused and predictable. I knew those soldiers would get up after being shot with arrows, I knew at some point they would take it serious and he would fall in love with the broad he was supposed to be escorting only to find out she was a spy. The character development was weak. You don't get a glimpse of the past and why the house of flying daggers are REALLY fighting "the government" and just who the hell is "the government" anyway? You don't get any clues until the last 20 minutes of the film. IMHO that doesn't tie the characters and plot together. This guy was basically a "player" and he falls in love with this broad after what? 2 nights in the forest and 3 encounters with "the government"? I know the female was supposed to be a seducer but if you couldn't tell they were going to drop the "she isn't real blind" card something is wrong.
Waste of my time. I should have stayed away after I fell asleep on it twice but I'm a glutton for punishment. Rent Seven Samurai or RAN instead.
