anyone understand this rep power shit?

like how exactly does ones reputation fluctuate? i dont see any sort of 'positive rep' 'negative rep' button or somethin

i know sohh.com uses reps but i dunno how it works i just know people with higher rep powers can literally take a person with a small rep's entire points away with one negative rep lol, shit leads to flame wars and shit but well see how this goes
