Four years after the death of Layne Staley, the remaining members of Alice in Chains plan to tour Europe and North America with a new vocalist. William DuVall of LA Band Comes With the Fall will handle vocal duties for a 25 date Euro tour this summer, and a stateside club trek that kicks off May 18.

I don't know about this. No one can ever match Layne's vocal styling and voice. I think it would be better if Cantrell just sang lead now instead of trying to replace Layne.

I have never even heard of this DuVall guy. Any thoughts on this?

I heard about it a couple of weeks ago but the singer wasn't announced, and at the time there were rumors it was gonna be the guy from Puddle of Mudd.
So needless to say, I'm happy with this guy, even though I've never heard of him.
Won't be the same without Layne though.

Yeah I heard about it a few weeks ago but thought it was worth posting up when they named the singer. I checked out their (Comes With the Fall) website and wasn't really feeling the band but the dude isn't that bad of a singer. I seriously would have boycotted this tour (and hopefully thousands of others would have too) if they had the the guy from Puddle of Mudd lead sing in the group. Layne would have been rolling in his grave.

I still wish they wouldn't try to fill Layne's shoes. Cantrell is a good enough singer to just step up front and take the lead.

I don't like it. I don't like the idea of replacing Layne Staley, he's too much for anyone to handle. I have never seen any rock & roll singer put as much emotion in their music than him, it's almost disrespectful to him to even try. And if anyone should be singing, it should be Cantrell; he is a very good singer. However, I guess an extra singer is necessary because they did a A LOT of harmonizing. I wonder if they're going to come up with any new songs.

Alice in Chains without Layne Staley is like Led Zeppelin without Robert Plant. Those singers were as much responsible for their respective bands' sounds, if not more, than the guitarists. Taking that away takes a lot out of the band.

BUT, this may be the closest I'll ever get to seeing AIC, so it might be worth it.
