I sure hope not,,,buying an album becuase the beats are tight...is pointless....
To each his own. I'm the exact opposite of you bro, I hear the music first, then lyrics.
The music is just so much more important to me than the lyrics, but thats just my personal preference. Me, I'm a sucker for melodies, if I can sit back and vibe to something musically, even if the lyrics aren't monumental, I can still enjoy it.
Even if an Emcee is spitting the hottest bars on the planet, if the music isn't there to draw me in, I lose interest in hearing what he has to say all together.
Music is more of a feeling to me than anything else, and honestly, a lot of the time when I'm listening to music, I get so caught up into the music and the vibe of it, that I miss out on what is being said on the track.
So I wouldn't call it pointless to buy an album with production being the most important factor, its just preference.
Just look at an artist like Ras Kass or Canibus...all the talent in the world, and everything you could ask for in an Emcee...
All except for one thing....an ear for picking great beats.
Just my .02
As for this album, it should be dope...but then again...Only Built 4 Cuban Linx is a really tough act to follow, even with Dre behind you.
