From what I read on Bloody-Disgusting his voice and look changes through out the movie... like he gets burned, then starts to healing a bit.. idk, hope it turns out good.

Craven's original script detailed Krueger as a child molester, which Craven said was the "worst thing" he could think of. The decision was made to instead make Krueger a child murderer in order to avoid being accused of exploiting the spate of highly publicized child molestation cases in California around the time A Nightmare on Elm Street went into production

i saw it last week. i thought it isnt as bad as critics say it was. and i seen all the original Nightmare On Elm Street Films. some people are just quick to talk down on remakes

^I'm assuming you didn't get the DVD, because if you did, you might have watched the one special feature it includes, "Freddy Krueger Reborn", and it fully explains why this one is different than the previous Krueger movies. It reaches out to that topic you brought up, and why his face is different and why his voice is different, and why they didn't want Robert to be the Krueger in this film, and all that shit.
