This isn't my post...I copied it from the Browns message board. But I thought it was interesting.

What do you think?

First off I realize that this is going to get mixed reviews and Im sure im going to be told im an idiot or whatever I dont care. I want to get off my chest why I think the NFL is fixed.

First the biggest one the New Orleans Saints. I find their miraculous turn around to be a little too conveniant. The Saints are now going to be in the NFC championship game for the first time in team history. They are also now the first team ever in the NFL to go from 3-13 to the NFC championship game in the next season. But you may say big deal this stuff happens in todays NFL. But isnt it a little conveniant that this all happens to the team that was once called the aints and went through 20 losing seasons their first season back in a city that was destroyed by a hurricane.

You may ask why. Look how the city has gotten around the team. The revenue that NFL is bringing to the city of New Orleans by the Saints being a winning team. Before Katrina the city and the people didnt even want the team there. There were strong talks about the team being moved to L.A. They couldnt even sell out the stadium the last time the team made the playoffs. They couldnt give away season tickets, when I visited I was amazed at how cheap they were. When you look at the crowd there is a significantly larger number of Bush Brees jerseys then there are Deuce and Horn Jerseys. Before this season no one cared. How is it that the "once in a lifetime talent" that is Reggie Bush falls to the Saints in the first place. I also dont buy how a 7th round draft pick can become such a primetime reciever in his rookie season. How did this guy get passed up 250 times fall to the saints and become a stud. The NFL wanted a feel good story. The Saints are now "America's Team". Everyone is happy to see the Saints succeed and overcome all that has happened to them.

Doesnt anyone else think that its a little strange that a franchise has its best season in its 40 year history the year it returns to its city after a natural disaster?

I dont think the Saints will win the Super Bowl however. I just cant see the NFL being stupid enough to make it that obvious.

This has worked in our favor as well, the year the expansion Browns made the Playoffs is the year that Al Lerner passed away. The Browns went 6-3 to squeek into the playoffs after Al died.

Same thing happened this year with the Chiefs. Lamar Hunt dies, and the Chiefs squeek into the playoffs with the Niners beating Denver.

There is also this seasons Football in general. Going into week 16, 12 out of 16 teams in the AFC had a chance at making the playoffs. The significance? If the playoffs were set by week 16 would the average fans still watch. By bringing things down to the wire it insures that the ratings are going to be up until the end of the season because it keeps the people interested.

there is no fix..

What about Tampa the year they won? Nothing happened to them, they just turned the franchise around and kicked ass.

Denver Lost the game becuase they sucked! By putting Cutler in they gave up on the season and cutler was the main reason we lost that game. The move to cutler was done before Hunt passed away.

It makes for good water cooler talk, but too see what Brees and that offense have doen is amazing.

People wanted parody and now it;s here. Now it's here people want to make excuses for a turnaround rather than balme it on what everyone wanted in the first place.

Also about the draft picks.

where was brady drafted? How about Shannon Sharpe? Rod Smith? terrell davis? lots of players go undrafted or late rounds and become better.

Bush dropped because of needs on the teams before the saints. Bush is good yes but he is not what everyone played him up to be, so to make a case that he is the reason they are winning is ludicirous.

I don't know about all that but since the Saints are "Amerika's team" and how everyone is pulling for them to win it all, I will be paying very close attention to the refs this Sunday in Chicago...I'm not sayin anything, just sayin...

Good shit 206... pay very close attention to the calls. If they swing the Saints way.... it's going to be fishy. So far in the playoffs the refs have been doing a good job.

I'm not sayin the shit will be fixed but after last years superbowl (which was either the worst officiating in SB history or it was fixed) it's understandable to be a little suspicious of the NFL.

Now, all games typically have some questionable calls. That’s fine. But if there are a number of nitpicking calls or phantom penalties that heavily favor one team and change the outcome of the game, then you may have a problem.

I agree with Tony that so far the playoffs have been called pretty fair and I do expect much of the same on Sunday. All I'm sayin is to keep a close eye on the refs, especially considering a SB with the saints would equal higher ratings than that of da bears.

I will agree last years super bowl something was up! Hawks got screwed. I watched it again on Friday when I was home sick they replayed it on nfl network, hawks were right in the game until all the bullshit calls

Oh...and another thing I forgot to copy was the Steelers super bowl win.

Jerome Bettis last year...in his hometown...and he wins it.

What a feel good story.

DID YOU SEE THAT THE SEAHAWKS VS. BEARS GAME WENT THE WHOLE FIRST HALF WITH NO PENALTYS!

CAN YOU BELIEVE THAT?

I THINK THE OFFICIATING HAS DONE VERY WELL THIS PLAYOFF

the thing is new orleans wasn't really that bad of a team in the last few years. I mean, their record says otherwise, 3-13 last year, mostly due to no home games & no where to practice.....but I used to like the saints before the brees acquisition and brooks got dropped.....they would always pull upsets against tampa bay when they were still good....I mean really, the saints just put key players into key roles and won that way. drafting reggie bush was great for them, because they used him as a distraction all year....everyone's looking at reggie and there goes the pass to their other rookie.

although I wouldn't say the nfl is above doing shit like that for ratings....Saints vs Colts will be a huge superbowl. How many people are gonna tune in to see peyton's first superbowl?

and about the afc playoff hunt, thats only because the afc was so good this year....the nfc playoff race was horrible, the records of some of the teams that were still alive in the playoff race in week 16 was unbelieveable.

Yeah we pretty much all agree on the officiating in this years playoffs. They've been pretty good. 206 I totally agree with your post dog.... and gimpy's. We don't want to see no bullshit calls in the playoffs or SuperBowl. I felt bad for Seattle in last year's SuperBowl. Every time they made a big play, the play got called back on a bogus holding. When the Steelers made big plays (the few that they made) none were called back. But that was last year.... so we'll see what happens. 206 doesn't want the refs to give the game to da Saints just because everyone wants to see them go to the SuperBowl. We'll see though. I don't think they'll win in CHICAGO.

Rex will play good. He has to throw the ball deep against the Saints and test their secondary. Plus Chicago has some fast as receivers. I don't see the Saints winning in Chicago.

I think its as simple as them having a reason bigger than themselves to play for. Besides that, how would they 'fix' games anyways...? Wouldn't that take not only having the Saints be in on it, but also every single opponent they've played...?

Don't think so. Plus, I think most of these guys are way too competitive to even fathom the thought of 'throwing' a game.

^alot of players would be too competitive to do that.....but if you get 2 players from each team to be in on shit, that alone could throw the entire nfl. they're in the huddle and know a big play is coming, so they can put that hold on the person they're assigned to block or they come in for that late hit or something.

but I don't think that happened......its possible tho
