Ok this is a topic I have wanted to speak on for a while now but got lazy too type it all out. I noticed that when dealing with rap in today’s time people are quick to compare it too older 90's shit. Yes true I am a huge fan of the 90's rap and how music used to sound back when R&B and RAP were actually two different things. Dre making the hits and Keith Sweat was responsible for half the kids out there right now. But back too today’s music. When twista comes out with a new hit the first thing said isn’t, "this is tight" or "damn this is coo" its, "his older shit was better" I used too think like this as well then I realized that creativity is what sells. Remaking yourself over the years is what people like. Sad but true people do not like the same music over and over again so you have too switch your style up to accompany the hunger of the industry. Now do not get me wrong, people like me i'm all for the old shit but most out there like the new shit or at least the ones going to buy the album are. Lynch’s shit will never come close to SOS again nor will you see another X-Raided unforgiven album like that again. These are things in the past and I just think people need to accept the music coming out nowadays and stop living in the past expecting too hear that 90's sound again. Anyone see what I am saying?
true but thiz new shit iz weak no "hip hop" shit kan compare to 90z rap even tha early 2000z fuck diz new shit itz all hella weak

I am one of those people that say it...I can't help it....You got a good point about moving on, but it just seems there hasn't been anything this past year to really get excited about.

I think in the era we live in its the information era, where its no more best kept secrets. It was a time when niggas outside the ghettos didnt know what the streets was listenin to, and that was kinda like the subculture. Nowadays, the suburban markets get access to the music prolly quicker than us, and also, the west coast when we was on top we had to use mafia tactics in the music business. And if you look at the mafia, they succeeded only when they kept they secret society. We caint just thumb our nose at the establishment and be on the front line wit it. It was operation west coast shutdown when niggas out here had the east coast rappers and executives shook, aint no a&r's gone try to fuck wit us. And we underestimated the countries love for the west coast, mufuckas was feelin us, but we was like fuck yall, so niggas thoght we was prolly gettin too big headed. Also I dont think we have enough black folks on the West Coast as they do in the rest of America, so the fan base is smaller in that demographic. I think independents might have watered shit down on some levels too, but thats debateable.

Shit, I say OVERALL music was better in the 80s and 90s compared to today. I grew up listening to Bone Thugs, Pac, Brotha Lynch, but also I was listenin to Metallica, Iron Maiden, Guns N Roses.. shiet, that was the shit back in the day. Today, rap is fuckin watered down like shit, and they got this new kind of.. metrosexual, let's wear my sister's pants and make up, pop-punk bullshit. It confuses me, I can't STAND that shit, I don't see how ppl can actually enjoy it. Obviously they do tho, cuz these are the folks goin platinum in a week. I can understand why mainstream rap is sellin, cuz that's the shit they play in the clubs, whatever the females is listenin to, the doodes trynna get in that female is gon listen to. This new emo thing trend is confusing tho. I can't comprehend how anybody can actually listen to that shit. Anyway, as far as rap goes, those of us who don't like this new shit are definitely in the minority tho. Look at the sales.. times change.

people say shit goes in cycles but some areas it seems like a broken huula hoop. it goes around till this open part and just falls out and then start over again. there's a gap it seems for some areas or whatever. i guess some people just aren't hustling hard enough, i dunno. if 50 cent can mumble same shit that was said in 88 and still be popular today, i guess other areas must be just not doing their business right to be not on top
