Ok this is a topic I have wanted to speak on for a while now but got lazy too type it all out. I noticed that when dealing with rap in today’s time people are quick to compare it too older 90's shit. Yes true I am a huge fan of the 90's rap and how music used to sound back when R&B and RAP were actually two different things. Dre making the hits and Keith Sweat was responsible for half the kids out there right now. But back too today’s music. When twista comes out with a new hit the first thing said isn’t, "this is tight" or "damn this is coo" its, "his older shit was better" I used too think like this as well then I realized that creativity is what sells. Remaking yourself over the years is what people like. Sad but true people do not like the same music over and over again so you have too switch your style up to accompany the hunger of the industry. Now do not get me wrong, people like me i'm all for the old shit but most out there like the new shit or at least the ones going to buy the album are. Lynch’s shit will never come close to SOS again nor will you see another X-Raided unforgiven album like that again. These are things in the past and I just think people need to accept the music coming out nowadays and stop living in the past expecting too hear that 90's sound again. Anyone see what I am saying?

you have a point there. but in all honesty, music isn't as good these days. especially in rap. so i've learned to accept the new rap shit, just have fun with it. people needa stop complaining.

hell yeah i agree with you on this. i get tired of reading people complain about shit that they've probably just downloaded anyways. you won't get the same flavor again. it's always going to taste different. this is present, not yesterday

yea its just that the artists from the 90's dont sound good on that 00 typa vibes. Actually for me, i can appreciate spice 1 on those new age tracks cuz im pretty much new to this. But im gonna be honest, if x raided comes on those type of tracks on his next album, i dunno, he should stick with his style from the unforgiven. Alotta people dont appreciate growth...and if they made the same stuff over and over again, then people would be like, this guys gettin old. So i dunno, everybodies different.

I buy my spice 1 and x raided cds, the only cds i ever buy...

^^ real talk, i dont mind the change, just 90% of todays production is garbage
the only acts ive actually copped recently is "kanye west - late registration" cause it has an original sound, but i like the original sound, "greedy - off the chain" this cd is classic, way different and very original from the ninetees shit, the thing is, it has the same vibe, just expressed different, still dark, but with more sounds and shit. you get what im sayin, and "derange - heaven or hell" which is another classic, completely different sound from old school oakland shit, but doesnt have that blinged out or commercial sound. ya get what im sayin, change is cool, but if yur changin to the same thing everyone else is changing to, or changing to sumthin that sounds bad, there is no way thats good

90's Rap = Good

Today Rap = Bad

LOL

Anyway, it just depends when you were feeling rap and when you grew up. To me late 80's early-mid 90's rap was the best. Every genera (of music) always changes and evolves. But rap has changed to mainstream. It is now the pop of the 80's and 90's. It is "The Music" of today.

HOPEFULLY DR. DRES NEW ALBUM WILL BRING UP THE WEST UP
that's just it.

Dre isn't hungry any more, and his most recent projects have proved it. It's time for someone else to shine. There is CRAZY talent in Cali, but the same few dudes get the attention, and unfortunately they are all from SoCal. Once record companies, media outlets, and consumers broaden their horizons, then maybe we can get some love. Seems like people only check for the West, when it's a Dre related project, so maybe that man needs to co-sign for some Bay/Sacra cats, feel me. We can't wait for the next man, so until then, we just gonna keep on mashin', doin' shows WHEREVER, and gettin' this independant paper.

ON THE SUBJECT,
IN THE 90'S THE WEST WAS LEADIN'. IN THE 2000 AND BEYOND, NIgKAS IS SEQUELISTIC AND FOLLOWIN'. THEY LET ALL KIND OF gARBAgE STYLES EMERgE AND MOST OF THE SHIT TODAY SOUNDS THE SAME.

SOMEBODY SAID IT EARLIER IN THE POST....MUSIC EMERGES INTO DIFFERENT FORMS AND FORMATS

FROM THE 50'S AND 60'S...DISCO IN THE 70'S.......POP CULTURE IN THE EARLY 80'S.....RAP IN THE EARLY 80'S....GANGSTA RAP IN THE LATE 80'S EARLY 90'S.......AND THE CHANGE THAT HAPPENED AFTER THE DEATHS OF PAC AND BIGGIE......MASTER-P, PUFFY, CASH MONEY...AND THE LATTER OF THAT IS WHEN RAP AS HOW A LOT OF US LIKED IT DIED..IMO
