There is plenty of stupid bitches Paris Hilton, (She may have got her money from her parents but she marketed herself real well.
you could use that comparison if she came from the ground up like Oprah did. Paris was born rich as fuck and is only famous because she was born into a rich ass family and did a homemade porno. Oprah came from nothin and turned nothin into everything. All paris ever did was just mainatin what she was born with.

I'm sorry Y'all, but I have to dissent.
Yes, rappers and Oprah probably both came up from poverty. However, she was a great outlet for the injustice of Katrina, and anybody making the money she is has got to have her shit together. Rappers, on the other hand, may come from poverty, but generally promote a message of drugs, sex, violence, and debauchery. I may catch flak for saying this, but it is true. So, compare Oprah, a woman who helps many people, and is pushing a POSITIVE message, one of hope, civility, education, social reform, POSITIVE things. Rappers on the other hand, claim that their raps are akin to "dope" and that we the public are fiends for their music. Then they rap about all the material items THEY have, supposedly making them better than us. Rap is all about bragadocious, how they are better than us. Yeah, they might rap about some social reform, but most of the songs on a rap album will be directed towards negativity.

Does anyone in here think 50 cent is contributing to society more than Oprah? I say hell no, negativity only promotes negativity. Having 15 songs on the album about crack selling, violence, fucking bitches, and then ONE song about making the ghetto a better place, the overwhelming message is that of negativity, of crime, of keeping the poor satiated and in their place. Oprah gets the nod any day.

^^^you seem to be taking issue with the fact that she contributed to the area that suffered the most damage which also had the larger black population. You seem like you have some type of sense of entitlement to Oprah's money. Why should you be mad? What you want her to do, call you personally and write a check? I think anybody who made any type of contribution should be commended.

Oprah is full of shit. she to me is no better than 50 is. To those people tinkin Oprah did so and so for Katrina Victims... its Bullshit. What she contributed was to keep her name in the limelight and make it seem as if she cared. Im from Mississippi... her Homestate and i live on the Coast. Gulfport, MS to be exact and Oprah made no contributions to Mississippi. Her donations were for the victims of new orleans. if u check, Mississippi got they Eye of the Hurricane, meaning.. we were hit harder by Katrina than New Orleans. New orleans is all they show on the news tho, plus noone really gives a shit about MS anyway. anyway, she didnt give to who needed it more, she gave to who the news would make a big deal out of it for. Only reason New orleans gets the coverage is because they are a big metropolitan area. and if the levies were destroyed and would of held there ground, noone would have cared about new orleans, they would have survived the hurricane. Mississippi on the other hand still wouldnt have. So to all u fools jumpin on sides... Oprah and 50 are just alike... they do things to keep their names buzzin.. they dont care about 1 person that they dont know.
And I mention her and Katrina not because of the money she gave, (or the lack of, according to you). I really meant that, months after everything had died down media-wise, she dedicated a show to point out how the FED Govt. , local and state gov. failed the citizens of New oRleans, the things they were suffering through then, and the things they were suffering through NOW. She could have done shows on anything, but put NATIONAL attention on that, and for that, I commend her. And in doing so, she trumps 50 by far.

i could give a shit about her or her money, im still str8. and she only does shows for ratings. Oprah doesnt decide her shows... she recommends and her producers think it over... Oprahs not the top oof her own food chain.... and being that mississippi got DIRECTLY hit by the EYE... it was affected more than new orleans... but seein as tho people are on the outside lookin in... they will never know. in New orleans... they dont have Slabs of concrete where homes USED to be... Mississippi does... only thing which people fail to realize that happened to new orleans was the city flooded... we got FUCKED UP here... FLOODS and TORNADOES (for those that dont know what a hurricane does... look it up) there are just as many black people on the Miss. Gulf Coast as there are in New orleans... so that doesnt mean shit...
but anyway.. talk back bout 50 vs. Oprah...
im livin the Post Katrina life.. most yall TV livin it
Poor me. Save me Oprah.
