Race has nothing to do with a disaster. There weren't just white people on the bridge for you Simon's not knowing. The area Katrina hit was alot bigger than this, so to compare it is dedrater.

why the fuck did this thread turn into an argument over race and george bush? I mean i dont like Bush but some people will use every opportunity to attack him when he had nothing to do with it. Gas i know u good people and half the shit u say ur joking but Ccytzo_Loc ur just a piece of shit, i bet if that bridge was full of ur "homeboys" and it was lowriders in the river then wouldn't be talkin like you are now. This story is big because its a wake up to America to realize that our country is getting older and we need to make sure our bridges and buildings are structurally sound before a bigger tragedy happens. What if the bay or golden gate bridges collapsed? You all talk hard and say i dont care blah blah blah but heaven forbid your directly effected by something like this. You may not think its a big deal but some people do so keep you negative comments to yourself because the fact of the matter is is that people did die and a loss of human life is never something to mock or take lightly. Stop tryin to prove how hard you are all the time, we dont care.

the levees couldnt contain the storm and they knew it

wasnt that a big enough tragedy for someone to say "maybe we should check out all the other things that effect the liability of hundreds of thousands of people everywhere else, and make sure nothing like that happens again"

i think katrina was a wake up, because now our state government has been trying to get federal funds to pay for a revamp of the Sacramento levees. Arnold has been lobbying hard for it but the federal gov't so far has refused. We all know the Bush admin isn't the greatest but i just feel that that discussion should be held in a different thread.

You know whats a trip is like only 5 people were reported dead from the news reports I heard. Yet something like 50 cars dropped into the river. It's a lucky situation if only 5 people died but I believe there's like 20 still missing. Anyone who survived this is lucky as fuck and needs to knock on wood.

Well, I think Katrina kind of had and prolly always will now have an impact on any serious tragedy cuz of all the heat they got after finding out how long it took for aid/help to arrive. The last thing they would wanna do is make another mistake like that... right? Now, as you can see with the MN bridge situtation, help was there right away.
