Na, I don't lose respect. Holyfield is my favorite fighter and after he got whooped on by JT, I thought he should of retired. But I didn't lose respect for him though.

My three favorite fighters are GSP, Marius Zaromskis and Fedor. I get more pissed off seeing GSP lay on someone for 25 minutes than I do seeing Zaromskis get KO'd going for flying knees while he's hurt or Fedor get triangled trying to finish a guy in the first minute of a fight.
I understand everyone loses, so as long as they go out fighting it doesn't bother me.

Hell no! I gain respect for them! I love fighters who come to FIGHT and leave it all in the cage/ring. This is why Wand probably has the biggest hardcore following. Dude comes to fight EVERY SINGLE fucking fight whether he's going to get ktfo or ktfo someone. He doesn't come to squeeze out a decision, he comes to put on a show and fight his heart out. These are the fighters that I love and the reason why I love combat sports.

if that said person got schooled and KO'd by a complete bum then yeah, I might lose a little bit of respect.

But if the person is getting older, or just got caught by a lucky shot, or simply lost to someone who was better, well that's the way the sport(s) go. Can't win them all.

There is a very small percentage of fighters that go their entire careers without getting knocked out. Especially in boxing. It usually happens eventually even to the best (like Ali, Sugar ray robinson, Leonard, etc.).

Takes a very special and unique type of human (and very thick skull) to never get KO'd. Guys like marvin halger, bernard hopkins, etc., just something about their skulls and ability to absorb shots that is just not normal.

getting caught and getting dominated are two different things i think you would lose some respect of a fighter if he came into a fight looking horrible and then got dominated but like in chucks case he looked in good shape and i think he just pressed ace a little too hard looking for the knock out and got caught split lip bad.

Rampage hits way harder than Chuck. These are from that show sports science where they measure how hard they hit and shit:

James Toney hardest punch: 1300 pounds

Randy Couture straight right: 1000 pounds

Shane Carwin straight right: 1600 pounds

Rampage Jackson hardest punch: 1800 pounds

Brock Lesnar straight right: 1850 pounds

Chuck Liddell hardest punch: 1400 pounds

Frank Mir kneebar: 150 newton meters (broke the dummy)

Fedor Emelianenko RNC: 500 pounds

Python RNC lol: 40lbs

Hardest Kick Style: Muay Thai

Hardest Punch Style: Boxing

that doesn't mean shit though. James Toney isn't even considered a big puncher in boxing. It's all about how you hit the dummy and where you're at in your life. In the ring or cage, you're physically prime and ready to go. I'm guessing a lot of these guys doing the show weren't at their absolute peaks (as far as training and conditioning goes). And again, it all depends on how you hit it. There is nothing like hitting a guys jaw full force, nothing can capture the strength of that accurately.

Me and 2-0-Sixx was talking about this yesterday in another thread. I feel like most fans are only around when things are going good once the fighter gets KO, most fans jump ship. I will only lose respect for a fighter when he stays around too long after his prime getting beat up by bums like Roy Jones Jr is doing. I respect any man that fights another man one on one.

It hurts 2 see your fighter get ko'd, once a fighter always a fighter sum guys just can't let go of that lifestyle and move on, I will nver lose any kind of respect for guys like chucc, just wish he would do something else now, he is a legend,an icon,a hall of famer...he shouldn't tarnish his name by continue fighting
