Giants prospect Villalona suspected of murder

According to this AP report, Giants prospect Angel Villalona turned himself in 12 hours after a shooting death in the Dominican Republic in which he is a suspect.

This is catastrophic news for the Giants. Villalona received a $2.1 million bonus as a 16-year-old power-hitting prospect. He’s 19 and played for Single-A San Jose this year before a quad strain ended his season.

I’m sure there will be a statement from the Giants organization and more reaction later today.
