the food for thought was Bengies stats hitting in the 4th spot this season...im not saying he should hit elsewhere or not, just interesting stats. i tried to post the stats and they got all screwed up, so here ya go.

Bengies batted at-

#1-0 for 1
#2-1 for 1 (2b, rbi)
#4- 324 ab's, (makes up the majority of his stats so hes .259, 11 hrs, 49 rbi's, abysmal 42 k's to only 6 walks)
#5- 0 for 2, 1 rbi
#6- 0 for 0, 1 rbi (sac fly?)
#9- 1 HBP

overall stats with runners in scoring position- .240 avg, 3 hrs, 42 rbis,
hes also grounded into 9 double plays, he already has 10 sac flys after getting a career high 11 all last year

only thing that stands out is 42 rbis w/ runners in scoring position, im gonna guess thats the most on the Giants, they just think he must "clean up"

eeehhh dunn?? do not want for sure, and if the trade for sanchez does happen, send frandsen and guzman but they shouldnt give up bowkermania, if trades were to happen, lets get sanchez or willingham.

and lets thank god that this year may be the last year with molina in the squad, hes an excellent catcher, but hes shit in offense

Over his whole career, the 7th spot has been where he's done the best with an OPS of .781...

In other news:

Schierholtz to DL, Randy Johnson has torn rotator cuff

Posted by Andrew Baggarly on July 28th, 2009 at 4:38 pm

Another busy day. Nate Schierholtz is out at least 6-8 days because of a strained left hip and some internal bleeding, so he goes to the DL to make room for Ryan Garko.

Discouraging news on the Big Unit. The MRI showed some tearing, according to Bruce Bochy. He will not pick up a baseball for at least three weeks, but Bochy said he is motivated to return and contribute down the stretch. He is 45, though.

Freddy Sanchez and Jack Wilson both not in the Pirates lineup. Stay tuned.

Both Freddy Sanchez and Jack Wilson are out of Tuesday's lineup.
Sanchez is still dealing with tenderness in his left knee and Wilson has a troublesome hamstring. It does not appear the benchings are trade-related.

we can call up pucetas if need be..

instead of trading for another pitcher
Yup...Jesse English is also an option as he's already on the 40-man roster...

Update on the trade front:

...it sure doesn't look like another Giants trade is imminent. GM Brian Sabean and three of his associates, Bobby Evans, Dick Tidrow and John Barr, are relaxing in the stands watching batting practice. Probably a good idea to get some fresh air after being hunkered in an office all day and night working the phones.

from what ive read.. if he signs with us.. he'll go to arbitration seeing as he's arbitration eligible for the first time in his career.

right now he's making around $446,000 i believe..

we can sign him for 2-3 years for about 2-4 mill

It's not a matter of him "signing" with us, he's under team control until 2012. He'll go to arbitration after this season if we don't buy those remaining years out. If he goes the Arb route, his salary is determined year to year.
